Project Hail Mary "faceless" gouache studies! I painted them in pairs so they're thematically related. From top to bottom- Identity, Adventure, Melancholy, Connection, Inevitability, and Communication.

I had a lot of fun with this series, and it was nice to focus on traditional art for a bit.

aroace Ryland means so much to me. His life was so full of love, but so many people didn’t realize it because it wasn’t romantic.

He loved his students. He loved his work. He loved to learn and grow and make an impact on the science community. He loved his studies. He loved the people he met.

Ryland Grace’s life was full of love because he was love. We see it in his friendship with Rocky. Both of them loved each other so much that they would sacrifice themselves if it meant the other had a chance. That’s pure love if I’ve ever seen it
