i realized yesterday that the great tragedy of shane hollander’s life is that the foundation he built his entire life upon - that if you work hard enough, you can achieve anything - failed him entirely when it really mattered. working hard didn’t stop his teammates from hating him, and it certainly couldn’t change his sexuality.
