Jennifer's Body (2009) Obsession (2026)
helen and aline <3 my girls deserved more page time in tda and i'm still bitter about it
Kit gets jealous in a suicidal way and ty gets jealous in a murderous way
Kit Herondale accepting his Shadowhunter origins but struggling with his fae ancestry
Ash Morgenstern accepting his fae ancestry but struggling with his Shadowhunter origins
I wonder if this will ever come up between them.
not sure i will ever forgive shadowhunters tv for what they did to isabelle lightwood and i’m so serious btw. isabelle loves alec so much that magnus’s birthday gift to him is a protection spell on her. she dates boys she knows her parents will disapprove of because she thinks it’ll distract them from figuring out alec’s sexuality + giving him shit for it. she finds out that simon has been cheating on her with maia and still her first reaction to finding out that jordan was maia’s abusive ex is to threaten to beat the shit out of him for going near her. in edom clary dreams of having a normal family and simon dreams of fortune and fame and alec dreams of being an accomplished warrior and isabelle only dreams of the people she loves being happy and healthy and themselves. she’s stubborn and loyal and haughty and funny and vain and curious and tempestuous and so, so quick to put the people she loves first for all that she likes to pretend otherwise, and the show threw so much of it away because they chose to focus on her being the 'hot one' who likes to flirt with everyone and make fun of alec. i am killing and fucking biting Why would you fucking do this to her
Also this is such a fucking nitpick but since i’m being cranky on main anyway: her name is not izzy. it is isabelle. the name people use to address her is just as important as sebastian’s decision to stop going by jonathan or jace’s shifting surnames. she canonically only lets people she’s close to call her a shortened form of her name. she tells off post-memory loss simon for trying to call her izzy after he distances himself from her and she realises he’s not the same simon she was in love with. one of the big signifiers of how close her and clary get between CoFA and CoLS is that clary suddenly starts referring to her as izzy in the narration of the opening chapter for the first time. when she's having her post edom-vision convo with simon it is specifically pointed out to us that he calls her 'not iz, not izzy. isabelle' because of how serious the conversation is. everyone and their mother calling her izzy in the show is like the emblem for just how badly they butchered her because book isabelle would not have been letting clary call her izzy on day 1
And this is another reason why I could never be a fan of the show. Its funny when some people claim that the show “improved” many of the flaws of the books just because in their opinion the characters in the books were all toxic and problematic. As if making them all softer, like disney-fied versions of themselves, makes it better.
First characters need to have flaws. They’re human it’s normal for them to make mistakes, to have imperfections or make questionable decisions.
Second people who make this kind of criticism seem to completely ignore the context we’re talking about: characters who were raised in a society full of prejudice and are child soldiers, trained from a very young age to fight for a cause they could die for at any moment. It’s inevitable that they would develop problematic behaviors. Expecting them to act like they do in the show is simply unrealistic to me.

"He sounds like Neil," Wymack said, "but he doesn’t look like him."
This is my third time reading this book it should not still be this serious to me
after they start actually getting along (ttc), everytime they see each other thalia makes sure to hug percy when they split no one really gets why, they both look kinda uncomfortable, but they just shrug it off
when someone finally asks her about it, whether it be annabeth, jason or someone else, she just gives a quiet answer. ‘i dont know when the last time i see him will be.'
