Sometimes you woke up and asked yourself why you were still in high school. There were plenty of successful high school dropouts; Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein, Robert Downey Jr., etc.
Yet, every day you brushed your teeth, combed your hair, put on some Adidas sweatpants, and walked out the front door to continue your high school education.
"All I'm saying is, it's a little weird, y'know? Like, I definitely am, like, okay with it but I also don't love it," Jason continued rambling on about how being called a "good boy" last night definitely didn't awaken anything in him.
You hummed as you scrolled through a few of the photos that you'd taken of the Waynes last night: Cass and Damian fighting over a stick, Jason rolling around in the tall grass by your feet, and even a rare photo of Bruce wagging his tail. His head was resting on your chest as the two of you laid on his childhood bed, recuperating from last night's "Wayne Family Game Night."
"It's okay, Jay, you don't have to justify what you're into," you said in a non-committal voice, which only furthered Jason's grumbling.
You then clicked on a video you'd taken this morning, right before the sun rose, of you lying in the grass with Jason. He was curled up into a ball but was still large enough to be used as a makeshift mattress for your torso and arms.
"Are you my good boy?" You asked in the video and the only reply you got was Jason's large tail wagging up on down.
"Read it and weep, Todd."
Knock, knock.
"Jay? (Y/n)?" Dick's voice rang from behind the door.
"Ugh, just pretend I'm asleep," Jason mumbled, nuzzling his face into your t-shirt.
"I'm gonna come in if you don't say anything," Dick sing-songed before opening the door. You quickly pressed your index finger to your lips and Dick made an over-dramatic "oh" face.
"Hey," he whispered, "Just checkin' in on everyone. Makin' sure he didn't go too hard. I saw you and him playing last night." You smirked at the memory of Jason's tail thumping against the ground as you scratched at his belly and called him a certain nickname.
"Don't worry, Jay's been resting up all morning like a good boy," you ran a hand through Jason's hair, ignoring the small shudder that it garnered.
"Ah, that's good, that's good," Dick whispered while rocking back onto his heels.
He stood there for a few moments, eyes trained on Jason. You glanced back toward him and asked,
"So, did you need any-"
"Do you remember when we first met?" Momentarily shocked at the sudden new topic, you took a second to think back.
"Not too well; I mostly remember Jay texting me that his brother was visiting so I should come over and then... Yup. That's about it." Dick hummed,
"I think I remember it too well,"
-
"Okay, I'm gonna grab something from the kitchen. Be right back," you gently patted Jason's thigh before standing up from the couch. Dick watched his brother watch you as you walked out of his tiny dorm room. Specifically, he watched his little brother's dopey smile that didn't dim even as you were no longer within eyesight.
"Wow," Dick drawled, his voice thick with amusement, "You are so gone for her, baby bro." Jason's lovestruck-fool look was immediately replaced with his trademark scowl, which was now directed at his older brother.
"Shut up," Jason snarled, "And so what if I am? If you think that I'm gonna be ashamed for having feelings for my girlfriend then you're a sexist mo-" Dick lightly cuffed the back of his brother's head with a snort,
"Calm down, Little Wing, I was just teasin' you," Jason clicked his teeth with displeasure but made no moves to retaliate, "Although, I still can't believe you got Bruce to threaten the dean just so you could have a few classes with her." At that, Jason growled at his brother, making Dick laugh,
"No, no, I'm happy for you, man. I've never seen you with a girl before. And such a cutie, too." Jason huffed but Dick saw the corners of his mouth twitch back up into a tiny smile.
"Yeah, she's a babe, ain't she?" The words screamed uneducated Crime Alley hoodlum, but Dick knew that Jason said them full of only love.
Huh. "Love" and "Jason" in the same sentence. And it didn't sound crazy?
"You told her about the 'big bad,' yet?" Jason sighed and leaned back onto the cheap, blue couch.
"Nope." Which, fair. Dick had only ever told Babs about the WolfTM (and even then, she turned out to be a witch so that sort of worked itself out).
"Do you think you ever will?" Dick knew he was being presumptuous about the longevity and commitment in this college freshman relationship, but he also knew his brother well. The boy was surprisingly emotional and headstrong; whatever he chose to do he did it with 110%.
Jason shrugged,
"Of course. Not now, though," Dick's Wolf felt Jason's bristle, "She just got out of a relationship and my Wolf's telling me the guy was a piece of-"
"Sup. I'm back," Jason immediately straightened his back as you walked in holding a plastic spoon and a pint of strawberry ice cream.
"Hey, took you long enough," Jason said, way-too-overenthusiastically, and Dick internally snorted. You chuckled at Jason as you reclaimed your seat next to him, with one leg bent in front of you, horizontally, and the other draped over the couch cushion. You popped open the pint,
"I'm sure you were counting down the seconds," you said sarcastically and Dick perked an eyebrow. The Wolf's intuition was rarely wrong, and now that Jason had pointed it out, he, himself wondered what your past relationship was like.
Jason grumbled something along the lines of "You weren't there," but Dick didn't comment.
A part of Dick, the less Wolf and more Older Brother part, worried a bit for his baby sibling since it was clear that Jason was absolutely enamored with this girl.
Dick remembered teasing him once at a Shift dinner for smiling at his phone all night and Jason had snarled, spitting, "Sorry I'm not an old man lookin' for loose milk!" (Which, what? Was Dick getting old? Because he did not get that reference.) But that was when Dick had first had his suspicions that Jason was seeing someone.
But, now? Seeing it in the flesh? With the way that his brother delicately rested a hand on your calf? That soft look in his eyes? He could tell that Jason would push mountains with his bare hands if you so much as snapped a finger.
Based on the Charlie Brown-style grin, his brother was well past puppy-love (heh.) No, Jason was in full-blown pure and violent, sharknado-type love with you.
And he knew firsthand that that was one of the easiest ways to get your heart torn in two before you can even see it tearing.
Dick really hoped that you would be gentle with his most sensitive sibling's heart.
"What were you guys talkin' about while I was gone?" you asked, eyes flicking from Jason to Dick. Jason gave his brother a warning glare, which Dick obviously ignored.
"Nothin,' just how much Jason loves you," Dick gushed over-dramatically, prompting Jason to flush bright red and shout,
"Sh-Shut up! You are such a jerk! Why- Can't you just-" Jason went on shouting but Dick was more interested in the moony (heh) smile you shot at his brother over your spoon. You smoothly interrupted the rant with a sweet,
"You want some, Jay?" The way that Jason immediately shut up and snapped his head to you (jeez, Dick could practically see his tail wagging) was extremely comical to Dick. You chuckled at your boyfriend and raised the spoon up to his face, "Ah," you instructed, and like the dog that he was (literally), Dick's baby brother dropped his jaw to allow you to feed him.
(Dick wondered that if you held out your hand, would Jason place his in it to "shake.")
Despite Dick's overprotective brother fears, though, watching Jason morph from the eternally angry, emo teenager into this love-stupid-trained puppy was something that Dick never thought that he'd see. Even at home, Jason was calmer, less volatile, (even though Dick knew that he had every right to be) and he even visited the Manor sometimes, even on not "Wayne Family Game Nights."
It was really nice. Dick could feel his Wolf settle in the back of his mind.
He was glad that Jason had finally found someone with who he could be his best self around.
"How is it?" you asked, casually using your thumb to wipe away a drop of ice cream at the corner of his mouth. Dick winced as Jason immediately began to choke on the ice cream, red-faced when you licked it off your thumb.
His little brother really needed to find his chill.
-
You looked down and smiled at the werewolf resting on your chest and gently brushed a lock of hair from his forehead. Truthfully, you didn't recall much from the first day that you and Dick met, but clearly, the memory meant something to him.
"I didn't realize how much of an impact I made on him," you said offhandedly, "I guess he really was a different person before we met." Your brain helpfully supplied a few early memories of Jason glaring at professors or snapping at strangers for staring at him in class, but none of his more aggressive actions were ever directed to you. Sure, he could be grumbly or whiney at times, but he never so much as raised his voice around you.
"Yeah, well, he was a totally different person then. He never really had his Wolf under control and, well, you know what happened with him and Bruce," Dick glanced down at his brother, still soundly sleeping, "So I'm really thankful for you, (Y/n). You brought our Little Wing home, again." The earnestness in Dick's eyes took you by surprise as the normally lackadaisical man held your gaze steady.
"I don't think I made him become anything that he wasn't already," you replied, gently, eyes now fixed on Jason, again. Dick chuckled,
"Alright, well. When Wolfman, here, wakes up, tell him that Al wants us all for lunch at 12:30." You nodded and Dick left, closing the bedroom door behind him.
"Get all that?" you asked your very-awake and red-eared boyfriend, "Didn't realize that you had it so bad for me," you teased and Jason grumbled with his eyes still closed,
"Yes, you did. Don't lie." You shook your head,
"Nope. Had literally no clue." You thought back to what Dick mentioned about your ex. Being in a relationship like that for so long had damaged a good amount of your self-esteem and if you were being honest, at the time, the idea of any other person being attracted to you in any shape or form was laughable at best.
"Honestly? If you hadn't asked me out, I would've thought you were just the friendliest, most agreeable person I'd ever met," Jason's head shot up and his eyes met yours,
"Take it back," he grumbled, "I am not friendly or agreeable," you laughed and dragged your nails behind his ear,
"No, of course not. You just carried my books for me and bought me lunch every day and agreed with all of my literary opinions, even the bad ones," Jason's already red face grew darker as you teased him,
"I mean... Most of them were fake, right?" You refrained from telling him that your theory that Twilight was a better horror than Frankenstein due to the dread factor alone was, in fact, one of your own opinions.
"Sure, baby," you said and stroked his cheekbone. Thinking back, the change in your outlook on life, love, and even yourself, was now very dramatic. From merely repeating the motions day by day you were now happy to wake up in your bed and in your body. You enjoyed drinking coffee in the morning and making dinner for yourself in the evening and for once, no one else's presence determined it.
Huh. Dick may attribute Jason's metamorphosis to you, but you knew that Jason had changed you just as much.
Of course, you had Jason to thank for a good amount of that.
"But, I'm glad that you asked me out, first. If not, who knows where we'd be without each other," Jason nodded and raised himself with his arms in order to press a gentle kiss on your cheek. He's so soft for such an angry boy, you thought to yourself,
"I've never wondered that," he murmured, kissing you again, higher on your cheekbone. You sighed happily as Jason continued to leave tiny kisses around your face and wrapped your arms around his neck. Jason always got cuddly and sentimental after a Shift (something about hormone imbalance and oxytocin influx) and you were soaking up every minute of it. Jason eventually stopped and lowered himself back onto the bed to just nose at the area between your pulse and your nape.
"I love you. You know that right?" you cooed,
"Of course. I just love you more." You weren't going to argue with that.

“Ba ba ba ba... ba ba badadadadadada,” you hummed as you combed your hand through Jason’s hair, your finger always looping around the small, white tuft in the front. Your boyfriend was reading as he rested his right cheek on your chest, forcing the both of you to squish together onto the cheap, foot-high twin bed.
“Okay, sweetheart, I love you, but you’ve had the How I Met Your Mother theme song stuck in your head for the past three days. Which means that, by default, I’ve had the How I Met Your Mother theme song stuck in my head for the past three days,” Jason said, lifting his head from your chest and thus unwinding your fingers from his locks. After giving your boyfriend a small pout, you clicked your phone off and tossed it aside to lock your fingers around the back of Jason’s neck.
“I’m sorry, lover,” you crooned in a too-sweet voice, knowing how much he hated the title, (he once explained that “lover” makes it sound like he’s a fifty-year-old billionaire and that you were his decades-too-young mistress) and grinned as he grimaced, “Is there anything I can do to make up for it?” Jason dropped his small paperback with a hum and lowered himself back down so that his chin was now lightly digging into your collarbone.
“Well, maybe you could reconsider coming out tonight with-”
“Nope.”
“Aw, come on, (Y/n)!”
“Remember the deal, Jay-Jay? In exchange for me forgiving you for lying to me for an entire year into our relationship, that you would let me come with you to the manor to watch ‘Family Game Night,’”the air-quotes were practically built into your voice.
Jason sighed and rolled over, having to awkwardly readjust the two of you (and you definitely didn’t grow a little flushed at how easily he slid his huge-ass hands around your waist and lifted you) in order to reverse your positions. You wrapped your arms around his neck, leaving your hands gently resting above his shoulders and a heavy hand rested on your lower back. You gently pushed aside the chain hanging on his neck with your matching ring and then lowered your head to Jason’s sternum. Once your head was nestled comfortable into his badonka-donk tiddies chest, you took a moment to rub your cheek into his large pectorals and get a solid whiff of his scent. He smelled like cigarettes, oak, and laundry detergent (one time you joked that he smelled like a cocker spaniel and Jason was legitimately offended by the comment.)
“Do you have to motorboat me every time...?” your boyfriend muttered, his eyes averted and his cheeks dark red. You’d be lying if you said that you didn’t take any pleasure out of getting your six foot, two-hundred pound boyfriend flustered much akin to a thirteen-year-old watching a girl lick a lollipop. With a quick grin and a happy hum you replied,
“Yup,” you popped the “p” hard, “My boyfriend is insanely hot and I, as his girlfriend, reserve the sole right to motorboat his rock hard breasts anytime I want with expressed and enthusiastic consent,” Jason groaned,
“Alright, do whatever you want. Make me Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, why not?”
“Wouldn’t you be more like Bolt? From the movie Bolt?” Jason closed his eyes and gave a dramatic sigh in mock exhaustion, but you heard the little hitch in his breath when you buried your face back into his cleavage. A moment passed in warm silence before you asked,
“Do you really not want me to come? I can understand if you don’t want me to.” Jason’s hand rose to gently pat at your upper back,
“Nah. A deal’s a deal.”
-
The morning after Jason revealed that he was a werewolf (damn, that still sounded absolutely absurd) the two of you settled in for a much-needed Q&A session. Some of the topics already covered included: origins (unknown), lore (unknown), and the existence of other supernatural creatures (unknown). So far, Jason had proved to be about as useful as a broken Wikipedia page, with Jason repeating “How would I know?” to nearly every question you had.
“How can you not know if there are other werewolves out there? If it’s hereditary, like you think it is, then clearly there must be more!” Jason shrugged and scratched at his still-naked shoulder (You hadn’t cared enough to clothe him, so you just let him wrap his torso with your university-supplied ratty, grey blanket. Clothes were unimportant when you needed answers),
“I mean. I haven’t met any. But I’ve only really been in Gotham whenever I turn. Bruce says it’s safer if we all travel in a pack.” You rolled your eyes at Jason’s lackadaisical answer. For someone who was literally a thing of legend, he didn’t seemed pressed to know anything about it. Giving up on that line of questioning, you continued,
“Okay, what do you and the ‘pack,’“ Jason scoffed at your finger-quotes, “Do whenever you pull an Animorphs?” Jason had the audacity to pout and cross his arms over his chest, the edge of the blanket scrunching at his armpits.
“I don’t appreciate the Animorphs comment, but to answer your question: it depends. For the most part, we just kinda run around the woods and mess around,” Wow, you thought to yourself, Some of the coolest cryptids in history and they just “mess around” once a month, “Sometimes Dick and I’ll, like, hunt some deer or just run around the woods around the manor,” that was probably the most disappointing answer after “How would I know?” but nevertheless, you persisted,
“Alright, well, what happens to your brain when you turn? Is it like The Shaggy Dog where you have a human brain but the body of a one-hundred-and-fifty pound wolf? Or is it just, no thoughts, just dog?” At that, Jason took a second to think to himself,
“I mean... It’s sorta both? Like, I’m still me, Jason, but all of my inhibitions are gone and replaced with just wolf. Y’know?” you didn’t know, “But then, at the same time, I still feel things. I’m still in control.” With a deep inhale, you reminded yourself that Jason was your beloved boyfriend and not a professor, or any type of professional, responsible for bestowing knowledge onto others.
“What on earth does any of that mean?” Jason grumbled a bit and ran a hand through his hair (which still had some tiny branches and leaves tangled in, which Jason seemed to ignore),
“Okay, like last night, for instance, when I broke that little rat’s arm,” you nodded, “I felt that I wanted to kill him and dismember his corpse and eat it,” that would definitely be a topic for another day, “But my human brain knew that I couldn’t kill him, so I didn’t. But my responses and methods were all wolf-brain.” Glossing over the fact that your boyfriend of a year had used the word “methods” to describe torturing your ex, you did acknowledge that his example clarified a few things for you.
And, naturally, garnered more questions for you,
“Wait, about that, how did you even know I was in danger? Wayne Manor is, like, forty miles west of campus. Unless, are your senses heightened by that much as a wolf?” Jason’s eyes darted to his crossed legs, but you could see the baby pink blush forming high on his cheekbones.
“I mean... sorta,” he mumbled, clearly embarrassed at what he was about to admit to, “But sometimes I just like to check up on you for a bit before I shift back. My wolf-brain likes being near you.” Despite your current frustrations at your werewolf boyfriend, you had to admit that you were slightly flattered. The thought that even when boiled down to his most animal instincts, Jason still wanted to be close to you made your face warm a bit. It was sweet.
“It likes your smell the most out of anyone.” Less sweet.
-
“Ah, Master Jason and Miss (Y/n). It is always a pleasure to see you return home,” Alfred welcomed in his over-polite manner,
“‘Sup, Alfie?” Jason greeted, giving the butler a hearty clap on the back, to which Alfred jolted forward by just a few centimeters,
“The ceiling is ‘what is up,’ Master Jason.” You chuckled at the two as you followed Jason through his over-the-top-and-only-slightly-obnoxious childhood home.
You loved visiting Wayne Manor not to just see how the “Other SideTM” lives, but because you always learned a little bit more about Jason each time.
Last time, for instance, you’d learned that Jason had had a very intense emo phase in high school. Like, lip, eyebrow, and tongue piercing intense. (You’d always said that you wouldn’t mind he get his tongue re-pierced but then you found out that he’d done it himself in his bathroom at two A.M. with a burnt safety pin. All of a sudden it became less sexy.) And eventually it got to the point where Damian stopped inviting his friends over from school because Clark Kent’s kid saw him once and told everyone that he was a vampire. You snorted at how close he was to being right.
Well, this time, you were going to learn a lot more about Jason. You had your notebook, a pen, and a camera all prepared for the “shift.”
“Y’know, you can still back out,” Jason sing-songed as the two of you walked into the massive kitchen where a plate of jam-filled shortbread cookies sat on the island (they were still warm; how did Alfred do that?). Jason snatched a cookie and leaned an elbow on the counter, taunting you,
“There’s no shame in taking the loss and hiding out in my dad’s basement.” You rolled your eyes and grabbed the cookie out of his hand seconds before it made its way into his mouth, tossing it into your own,
“Hey!”
“If you think that I’m going to pass up on an opportunity to see a real-life werewolf pack, then maybe you don’t know me as well as you thought you did, lover.” Jason grumbled a bit before stuffing two more cookies into his mouth.
The two of you munched in silence for a few before Jason—mouth still full— said,
“Are you sure-”
“Hey! Jaybird!” Looking up, you saw Jason’s older brother, Dick barge in, “And hey, Jaybird’s owner!” Dick exclaimed as he strolled through the kitchen leisurely. It still blew your mind whenever you saw Dick and Jason next to each other.
Yes, they had different mothers, but nonetheless, the fact that they were related at all seemed almost impossible. Dick was so happy-go-lucky with seemingly no care in the world (which seemed concerning for a cop, no?) meanwhile Jason looked like he was two seconds away from starting a gang war for the fun of it.
“Hi Dick. It’s been a while,” you said pleasantly, to which Dick grinned, seized a cookie and replied,
“Well, yeah, it’s because Jay never wants to bring you over, for some reason! It’s almost like he’s embarrassed of us or something, which I find ridiculous, right Jay?” As Dick attempted to hug his brother, who was now putting up a very impressive fight, in walked Damian who made a bee-line for the cookies, artfully dodging his wrestling older brothers.
“Hey, Damian. What’s up?” you asked.
To be completely honest, you were pretty sure that Damian hated you, although you weren’t completely sure as to why. At first, you thought that he might be jealous of you, especially when you and Jason first started dating. But, after you saw him knuckle-punch your boyfriend in the gut over a set of Japanese tea cups, you figured that that wasn’t the case.
The twelve-year-old quirked an eyebrow at you, looking like you’d just offered to bite his ear off.
“The ceiling,” he deadpanned, Alfred’s parenting clearly rubbing off on him. You gave him an awkward chuckle and replied,
“Hilarious, buddy.” Buddy? Seriously?
Damian gave you a bored sigh before gathering three cookies onto a cloth napkin and exiting the kitchen.
“Get off of me!” Jason finally shouted before kneeing Dick in the... Well. Y’know.
“Dick!” Oh look, Tim was here, too. Jason groaned before letting his also groaning older brother drop to the floor.
“Hi, Timbo. I’m also back, by the way.” You beamed at your pouty boyfriend as Tim starting yelling at him and Dick.
You watched fondly at the warm—if not chaotic—scene playing out before you. (Dick was now back up and attempting to give Tim his own hug before the teenager ducked out of the way.) It was comforting to know that despite their sort of rocky history, that Jason’s family was still as close as they were.
“Hi Tim,” you greeted when the teenager reached toward the almost-empty cookie plate.
“Hey, (Y/n). Could I, like, go around you to grab a cup of coffee? Yup. Thanks.” For being only seventeen, Tim’s eyebags reminded you strikingly of your sixty-year-old chemistry professor.
“So, Tim, how’s school goin’? I remember junior year being rough.” Tim gave you a tired chuckle and replied,
“According to the Yerkes-Dodson curve, I’m on the right end of productivity so.”
“Tim’s lying.” You startled a bit when Cass appeared beside you, a shortbread cookie already in hand. You gave a polite nod before your two-hundred-pound boyfriend clomped back toward you and grabbed your wrist,
“Let’s go. This family reunion’s been nice and all, but I don’t wanna accidentally run into-”
“Jason.” Jason cringed at the gravelly voice that called him and you gave a sympathetic wince back. Jason turned to the entrance of the kitchen, a familiar, snarky expression on his face,
“Bruce,” you saw the billionaire stiffen at the use of his first name, “What’s up? Here to tell me how much of a disappointment I am and then kick me out? Or...?” Bruce sighed and clenched and unclenched his fists.
“Jason, I know that we’ve had our-”
“Instances of total abandonment? Or lulling each other into fall senses of trust and then just rippin’ the rug right out from under ‘em?”
“Jaylad-”
“Don’t call me that.” You could tell that this conversation wasn’t going to be heading anywhere, so you looped your arm around Jason’s waist,
“Hey, Mr. Wayne. Lovely home. But I made Jason promise me that he’d show me his collection of pocket-sized literary classics so...” With a light tug, Jason grumbled a bit before letting you lead him out of the kitchen.
“O-Oh. Yes. They’re um... very small.” You gave the bumbling Bruce a polite smile before heading toward and up the “main” grand staircase (since there were at least three that you knew of).
“Stupid Bruce tryin’ to make me-”
“Jay?”
“Huh?”
“I love you.” Jason nearly tripped over the next step of the staircase.
-
The two of you hung around the manor for the next hour, with Jason giving you another part of the house tour (you were on part three, this time) and then the two of you crashed in Jason’s private library until Alfred called the family down for dinner.
While Bruce sat at the head, the kids filled in both ends of the obnoxiously long table with Jason purposefully sitting at the farthest two place settings.
“Tonight, I have prepared a hearty beef and vegetable stew, along with sixteen-ounce filet and a side of herb-roasted potatoes,” Alfred announced, standing next to Bruce, who was (like the rest of his children) impatiently waiting for him to finish. You noticed the family had a now restless energy to them, almost as if this was their first meal in a decade. In fact, you could hear Dick swallow at the meat in front of him. “And for dessert, I’m warming up an almond cherry pie with homemade whipped cream.” You quirked a lip at that, having heard Jason wax poetry about Alfred’s cherry pie; clearly Alfred had heard the same.
“Alright, children: dig in.” With that, you watched in shock as the Wayne children literally begin to devour the meats and vegetables on their plates (even Cass!). You even saw Damian, at one point, stop using his steak knife and just pick up the filet with his hands and begin gnawing at it. Wasn’t he a vegetarian!?
“Wow, I didn’t realize that you were so hungry,” you whispered to Jason, who had red meat juices flowing down his chin.
“Nah, it’s always like this before the shift,” Tim explained, from across from you not bothering to swallow before speaking, “Our bodies are becoming more in-tune with the moon’s revolutions so they’re preparing for the transformation,” Tim paused to take a long slurp of stew straight from the bowl, “So our metabolism rate increases by almost triple, meaning that we’re starving.” You nodded and pulled out your notebook and pen, jotting down what Tim had explained.
“Also the wolf-brain wants raw meat, but Alfie always says no,” Jason added, taking a large swig of water.
“’Wolf-brain?’ Is that what you’re calling it, Jay?” Dick asked with a loud laugh. Jason glared at his brother before turning back to his potatoes.
“Why? What do you call it, Dick?” you asked, pen ready,
“Well, we’ve always just called it ‘the Wolf’ since it’s sorta like a whole animal’s living with you, y’know? He’s never gone, just sometimes goes to sleep for a bit. But, it comes out in, like, weird ways. Like, has Jay ever just, like, smelled you? For way too long?” You smirked and glanced at your boyfriend who was conveniently face-first into stew.
“Yeah. Like, ten minutes ago.”
“Well, that’s the Wolf. It means it likes your smell.” Yeah, you’d heard that one already.
Still super weird.
Once everyone had scarfed down their main courses and Alfred had placed the pie on the table, Bruce decided to address the “you” in the room.
“So, Jason, it has come to my understanding that your classmate wishes to sit-in on tonight’s shift,” your eyebrow quirked when you saw Jason’s hand tighten around his fork at you being called a classmate, “But do you really think that it’s wise to bring her along? It can be quite dangerous and I’m not sure that it’s safe to have a civilian so close to-”
“A civilian. Really, Bruce? She’s my partner and if you have something to say then say it to my face instead of pussy-footing around!”
“Well, Jason, you and I both know that-”
You were well-aware of Jason’s tense dumpster fire of a relationship with his father. From what Jay (and Dick) had told you, when Jason was in his senior year of high school, he and Bruce had had a really bad fight (about what, Jason still wouldn’t tell you) and Bruce had essentially kicked out his own son. Jason then couch-surfed for a bit but as soon as Vicki Vale found out about his living situation, Bruce then suddenly decided to welcome Jason back home and even offered to pay for all of his schooling. Miraculous.
“No! She’s the only person that I’ve ever met that has understood and accepted me for who I am! And if you think that I’m going to sit here and let you talk down to her, then you’re an even worse father than I thought!” Although you had to admit, that watching Jason yell at his father in enthusiastic defense of your honor was very... exciting for you, you also knew that you would have to chime in real soon.
“I can’t risk letting her get injured! What if people were to find out!?”
“Oh yeah, because Bruce Wayne cares so much about what other people think. Especially people who aren’t even his own kids!” Did... Did Jason just growl?
You looked over at Tim, who was still eating his pie without even looking up.
“Is-Is the growling another wolf thing?” you whispered. Tim shrugged,
“Prob. Or it’s just a Bruce v. Jason thing. It’ll all be resolved soon, don’t worry about it.” With a small sigh, you fixed your eyes back on your boyfriend and his father screaming at each other with an intensity that can only fester from years of unresolved and repressed anger and hurt.
“Jason! I am putting my foot down on this! She cannot come and that’s final!” Okay, now that sounded like a bark. You placed your hand onto Jason’s forearm (which was notably tense) and the man froze, whipping his head back at you.
“Jay... It’s okay. I don’t have to come.” Jason’s eyebrows furrowed, not used to you giving in so easily.
“Wh-What? No, babe, if you want to see the shift, you’re gonna see-” You smiled at your over-passionate boyfriend before cutting him off,
“Jason. I’m not worth fighting with your family over, alright? Family always comes first, and I get that.” The Wayne Manor dining room went completely silent, mostly due to their shameless staring, but also due to Jason’s (to them, at least) unfamiliar expression. It was disturbingly... fond.
You knew that Jason had lived with his mom until she died when he was thirteen, meaning that he only lived with Bruce for a few years. Meanwhile, Dick had moved out by the time that Jason was in high school, Tim and Cass had only been in middle school when Jason was kicked out, and Damian in elementary school. Which means that the amount of times that Jason’s family had seen him so unguarded were few and very far between.
So it wasn’t surprising to you when the Wayne children all stared in shock at the small peek of intimacy. Although, it did make you a little sad.
“(Y/n), no. Don’t say that-” you cut him off, again,
“It’s cool. I’ll just hang out with Alfred, alright? Maybe help with all these dishes,” you joked, but the look on Jason’s face let you know that he was taking this personally.
“Well. That’s settled.” Bruce sat up from his seat, and slowly, the other siblings followed suit. Jason glanced at you, so you gave him a gentle nod before he, too, stood up.
“The moon should be rising within the next seventeen minutes, so everyone meet outside in ten,” Bruce ordered and you watched, fascinated as each child nodded before going their separate ways, leaving just you, Alfred, and Bruce. After a few moments of awkward silence between the three of you, you stood,
“Well, guess I’ll just help Alfred clear up this table-”
“(Y/n).” Damn, that man’s voice is authoritative, you thought to yourself as you sat back down, slowly.
“May I... ask you something? In regard to my son.” Bruce stared at you with a very intense gaze that, honestly, cleared up a lot about Jason’s daddy issues.
“S-Sure. I mean, yes. Yes, you can. Sir.” Alfred let out an amused huff at your struggle.
“I understand that my son has significant... feelings toward you,” for a brief moment, Bruce’s eyes flicked off of yours, “So I would like to ask if you... if you know about what happened between Jason and I.” Despite the tense atmosphere in the dining room, you continued,
“Y-Yeah? He’s mentioned it, once or twice.” But Jason was never really comfortable bringing up his issues with his father, so he would tell you the whole story when he was ready.
“Well, I would appreciate if I could express my reasoning behind asking Jason to leave Wayne Manor all those years ago.” Alfred let out a disappointed sigh.
What.
The-
“Forgive me, Mr. Wayne, but I don’t believe that that is something that is appropriate to discuss with me,” you replied, coldly, standing sharply enough to cause the wooden chair to squeak against the marble tiles, “You and I both understand the tremendous amount of pain that you caused, so to think that I would even consider betraying Jason’s trust is absolutely absurd to me. Now, if you would please excuse me, I’m going to go to Jason’s library, to hide from my boyfriend. Per your request.” Without looking at the man, nor Alfred, you stormed out of the dining hall with your chin held high.
-
Curled against the couch armrest, with your legs tucked into your chest, you were actually quite comfy as you read in Jason’s giant library. However, despite the Instagram-worthy setting, you still found your chest burning with residual anger.
“Miss (Y/n)?”
“Hm?” Alfred stood at the door to the library, his eyes holding a look you’d never see in the old man, “Hey, Alfred. What’s up? Do you need any help with the dishes?” as you closed your book, however, Alfred put a hand up.
“Your gesture is very much appreciated, my dear, but no. This is in regard to what you said to Master Bruce at supper.” You sighed,
“I’m sorry if I disrupted dinner. I-I just couldn’t let him talk about Jason like that,” Alfred’s lips quirked up briefly,
“Please, my dear. If anything, I commend your speech to Master Bruce,” your eyebrows popped up, “Master Jason and his father have a rather complicated relationship, and I, more than anyone, know that Master Bruce holds the responsibility of it.” You smiled at the old butler, glad to know that Jason had someone on his side. “And I understand that you are someone very important to Master Jason, which is why I am comfiting the grave crime of disobeying my son.”
-
As you followed Alfred into the woods behind the manor, the full moon was already hanging high and you thought that you could hear a wolf howl. Alfred eventually stopped at a small clearing with dewy grass up to your calves,
“The boys have already set out for the night, so I apologize that you had to miss the shift,” you shook your head without looking at Alfred, already scanning the trees for any fur, “Now, Master Jason can most likely already sense you, so I will take my leave before any... claws come out.” With that, Alfred excused himself, leaving you sitting in the middle of the woods with nothing but a phone, a notebook, and a pen.
You weren’t alone for very long.
A large bark rang through the space and you grinned as a very familiar horse-sized wolf sprinted out of the trees.
“Heh. Hi, Jay,” you cooed as the green-eyed wolf trotted up close to lick your face and you brought a hand up to scratch his ears. You smiled wider at the chain hanging around its neck dangling with the ring. Jason let out a small yip and rolled over with a heavy thump, his tail wagging.
“Aw, you want some belly rubs? Hm?” After said belly rubs, Jason rolled back onto his stomach and rested his head in your lap as you stroked his crown, his fluffy , white tipped ears resting at the sides. The shared peace was disturbed with a single whine.
“Huh?” you looked up from Jason, who’s ears perked up, but lazy looking eyes told you not to be concerned.
Another whine, followed by a small bark, directed your eyes to a dark brown wolf puppy with bright green eyes, roughly the size of a German Shephard. The puppy was standing about two feet away, with his head tilted and tail wagging lowly. You smiled in recognition,
“Hey, Damian,” the pup yipped and trotted toward you and Jason, circling once before pressing its front paws onto your thigh, clearly asking for pets, “Are you missing out on some cuddles, baby?” Jason let out a low growl when your hand raised from his head, but Damian actively licked your palm as soon as you reached out. You giggled as the puppy excitedly barked at the attention; maybe Damian didn’t hate you. After a few short moments, Jason lifted his head and whined at you.
“Don’t worry, baby, I’ll-” A sharp bark disturbed the peace and both Jason and Damian jumped up and stood in front of you. You stood up at the sudden change in atmosphere, prepared to run if need be. When you stood, you spotted what had to be Bruce. The animal stood at nearly six foot, was as wide as a truck and coated with long black fur. Jason snarled, stepping forward in a challenge, but Bruce remained still.
You watched as the two animals stared each other down, the air thick with tension. After knowing Jason for as long as you had, you knew that he would never attack his father. You weren’t completely convinced that Bruce had that same level of control.
The two wolves remained stiff and Damian was now growling from in front of you, his hackles thick with raised hair. The four of you remained like that until Bruce... bowed his head? The massive wolf tilted his head down briefly, but long enough for the message to be clear, before turning and sprinting back into the trees.
“Huh,” you whispered, trying to process what just happened, but you were quickly knocked back down by Damian, who growled at having been ignored for so long, “Okay, okay,” you chuckled, resting back on one palm and running a hand through his scruff. Jason quickly forgot about the whole Bruce thing, pushing Damian out of the way to lick at your cheek.
-
You woke up a few hours before the sun rose, so the moon was still hanging. Your head was resting on Jason, who was curled up, nose to tail, and Damian was curled up at your side, his small snout on your belly. You could vaguely remember both Dick and Cass showed up at separate times to sniff around you and play with Damian (they tried to engage Jason, but he was too busy getting head scritches).
“Good morning, Miss (Y/n),” you startled when Alfred’s voice disturbed the trepid silence. Damian grumbled but the puppy didn’t move from your stomach, “I apologize for disturbing your sleep, but the boys will be shifting back soon, so I’ve brought them their change of clothes.” With a small sigh, you nodded and sat up off of your werewolf boyfriend. Jason snorted as soon as you moved, eyes flying open and head snapping up. You chuckled and playfully scratched at the scruff around Jason’s neck before a more high-pitched growl disturbed you,
“Good morning, Dami,” you cooed, running your other hand behind Damian’s ears, earning you an adorable puppy yawn.
“Miss (Y/n),” Alfred politely interceded,
“Yes, yes, Alfred. I’m up,” you stood from the pile of puppy love and dusted yourself off. Jason whined and followed suit, his wet, cold nose nudging at your hand, “I’m sorry, baby. But you’re gonna be naked in a lil’ bit and I don’t wanna scare Damian, yeah?” Jason grumbled again but turned around to nip at Damian, who was still lying down in the grass.
You then watched, in tired fascination as the two wolves trotted into the woods, going in almost opposite directions.
“Would you like to deliver Master Jason’s clothes for him, Miss (Y/n)?” Alfred gestured to one of the five paper bags next to his feet.
-
I hated the shift back. It was way worse than the shift into being a wolf. I always ended up sore, laying stomach first on the wet grass, with sticks stuck in and bugs crawling all over my body. With a heavy groan, I pushed myself up and into a sitting position as I rolled out my wrists and neck. I have no idea why the Wolf always went full out every full moon (heh) but last night was definitely more chill with-
“(Y/n)? What are you doin’ here?” She chuckled and tossed a sack at me before kneeling down to run a hand through my hair. I saw some leaves fall out as she did, but she didn’t mention it.
“Get dressed, killer. I’m starving and I’m pretty sure that Alfred made brioche french toast.” I placed a hand over my morning-skinny stomach at the thought of Alf’s cooking and then reached for the bag of clothes.
“Alright, gime a sec.” When I opened the bag, though, I noticed that my lovely, slightly pervy girlfriend didn’t move. “Uh, you just gonna sit there and watch me?” she smirked,
“Why? I like what I see,” I felt my cheeks heat up and looked back down at the bag. I grumbled something about her being a deviant (but secretly, I love when she makes her attraction to me so obvious. Even if I’m as bulky as a WWE wrestler, she still thinks I’m so hot and I-) I was broken from my thoughts as she crawled onto her hands and knees into a very suggestive pose,
“Damn, baby, if you really just wanted some attention, I could-”
“Go away!”
-
Once Jason was showered and well-fed, the two of you took the day off and were simply chilling in his childhood bedroom, discussing the past night’s events. Now on his bed, Jason was simply lying on his side, eyes closed in relaxation while you lied on your stomach, next to him, allowing him to run a hand up and down your waist.
“I still can’t believe that Damian secretly likes me,” you joked, rubbing a hand over Jason’s chest and toying with his chain. Jason snorted,
“Yeah? He’s always like that when he likes someone. The sniffing, the little glare; that’s all Damian,” you hummed and took a comforting inhale of your boyfriend’s scent, “Did you have fun? Answer any of your burning questions?”
"Mm. Nah. Honestly, Tim’s rambling at dinner was more informative than hanging with you and Damian all night,” Jason scoffed, “But, I did have fun with you,” you gave your boyfriend a sweet grin.
“I had fun too.”
The two of you sat in the warm silence for a moment, but Jason quickly broke it once more,
“Y’know… I really didn’t want you to come,” he muttered, eyes boring into yours. Your eyebrows furrowed together,
“What? Why didn’t you tell me? If you were really uncomfortable with me being there, then Jay, I’m so sor-” Jason snorted, effectively halting your apology,
“Nah. I owed you one. And whatever you want, I’ll give it to you,” You felt your heart stutter at the simple but honest statement, “But, I never really wanted you to see me like… that y’know? My wolf form can get pretty intense and even last night, when Bruce showed up, I couldn’t even think straight with you near. Didn’t think about how you’d feel about it; about the fact that it was Bruce... I didn’t even think about the possibility that you could’ve gotten really hurt. I only wanted to kill whoever was intruding,” you blinked a bit at the surprising confession. To be honest, in that moment, you’d been terrified, sure, but it was never for your own safety. It had been, and always will be, for Jason’s. Jason waited patiently for a response while you carefully deliberated your next words. You knew that Jason, despite his overall appearance and brave faces, was very sensitive, especially when it came to those he cared about. You let your hand rest in his still-wet hair, scratching gently before speaking.
“Jay… I love you,” you said, plainly, visibly confusing Jason, “And that means I love every part of you, even if some are a little… intense,” you gave your boyfriend a warm smile, “Nothing you could do would ever scare me away.”
Jason sat up slightly so that he could lean forward and press a small kiss to your forehead. He let it linger before lowering his face down so that you were nose-to-nose. You didn’t comment on the tears welling in his eyes nor when one fell down his cheekbone.
“I love you, too. And I’m so happy that you love me back,” he whispered, his throat slightly rasp with emotion. You merely hummed and pressed a soft kiss to his mouth. Jason quickly licked into your mouth with a groan and you sighed when you felt his tight grip on your waist and his face lowering to your neck-
“Oh, Jaybird!” the both of you startled as Dick’s voice broke through the warm silence along with the slam of the now-wide-open door hitting the wall. The man’s familiar over-eager expression dropped as soon as he saw the position that you were in; Jason’s mussed up hair, his hand on your waist, and his lips on your neck,
“JASON!” Dick’s face was now bright red and he turned his face so that he was facing the door. Jason huffed at the interruption before sitting up, leaning on his palm but keeping a hand on your waist and his face reverted back to his usual resting bit-
“Uh, I just wanted to let you guys know that Alfred’s hosting a family move night since you and (Y/n) are here,” Dick mumbled, clearly embarrassed at having walked in.
“You couldn’t have just texted me that?” Jason snarled and you pressed your lips tight to prevent from grinning.
“Hey! I’m not the one canoodling while the rest of the family-” Jason tightened his hand minutely at your waist,
“Dick. Could you not alert the entire house to-”
“Dick? What’s wro-” Tim chimed before sticking his face into the door frame. You groaned and sat up when Tim immediately turned around and walked away. Only for Cass to walk in. Thankfully, her only reaction was a slight raise of her eyebrows and a thumbs-up.
You gave her an awkward thumbs-up back.
“So... Yeah. We’re starting in ten. So,” Dick then moved to close the door,
“Well. This couldn’t get any worse,” Jason grumbled as he laid back down, pulling you back with him so that you were back-to-his-front, his heavy arm wrapped around your stomach. With a sympathetic ‘hm’ you reached your arm back to pull his head toward your neck again. Jason conceded and pressed a few soft kisses to your nape.
“Yeah, but at least we have ten more minutes to-”
“Grayson? What is-” The two of you froze when Damian pushed the door back open to reveal the “canoodling.”
For a small, comedic second, Damian’s eyes widened and darted from you to Jason to Dick to Jason, again before his face flushed dark red. Dick winced and Jason sighed.
“TODD!” Dick had to make the first move to tackle Damian, but missed as the twelve-year-old quickly darted to the side, “How dare you attempt to defile this maiden in Father’s own home!”
Okay, number one; defile? Number two: maiden? And number three; how was this kid so fast? Damian jumped onto the bed, narrowly missing your torso with his foot, and onto Jason, who picked up the child as he attempted to throw punches and kicks.
“Damian! Down! Bad dog!” Jason growled as he sat up with Damian in hand, who was now biting him? You sat up and pulled at Damian’s stomach as he continued battling your would-be defiler. You ‘oof’ed as Damian got a rather strong kick into your boyfriends sternum.
“Damian! No! What did we say about attacking family!?” Dick shouted as he reached over you to take Damian from Jason.
“I’m just gonna—hrg—take him downstairs now,” Dick said as he tossed Damian over his shoulder, “Remember! Ten minutes.”
“Put me down! Grayson! I demand that you allow me to defend (Y/n)’s honor on this-” Dick used his toe to shut the door, effectively muffling whatever threats Damian had left.
“Wow,” you said, “I mean, I’m flattered that Damian felt so strongly about my virtue. But,” you turned toward your boyfriend, who was now inspecting a bite mark on his forearm, “He does know that I’m not a maiden anymore? Right?” Jason just rolled his eyes with his cheeks stained red.
-
The two of you walked down one of the staircases hand-in-hand and were met at the bottom of a stony-faced Bruce. Jason’s hand tightened a bit and you warmly squeezed it back.
“Jayl-” Bruce stopped himself, “Jason. May I have a word with you? About yesterday?” You turned to your boyfriend and he sighed,
“What.” Bruce briefly glanced toward you,
“Perhaps we could speak in confidence?” Jason scoffed,
“Whatever you have to say to me, you can say to (Y/n), too.” And as much as you loved how weirdly loyal your boyfriend was at awkward and inopportune times, you knew that any conversation between him and his dad was meant for him and his dad only.
“A-Actually, Jay, I’m gonna go talk to Damian. Y’know. Clear up anything about what he saw,” you then pressed a brief kiss to Jason’s hand and pulled away (not mentioning how Jason almost didn’t let go). With a slightly awkward nod from Bruce you then darted toward the main floor.
“Hey, Dami,” you called as you sat next to him on the massive leather couch in the theater room (which, just why?). The boy had his arms crossed in front of his chest and he turned his head so that he wouldn’t look at you, “Are you okay? I know that that must have been uncomfortable to see your brother in that sort of-” Damian turned to you with a small pout,
“It’s not about Todd,” he said matter-of-factly, “It’s the fact that you deserve much more than that two-bit mongrel! He thinks that he’s allowed to touch you as if you two are of the same status! Does he not know that you are worthy of a man that gains much more respect!?” You knew that Damian was raised by his ultra-conservative-mother for the early years of his life but you had no idea just how conservative. With a wince you replied,
“Well, Dami, if I deserve so much, don’t you think that I deserve to choose who I love?” Damian’s gaze hit the floor, “And when two people love each other very much-” Damian groaned,
“Please. Father has given me ‘the Talk’ already so spare all of the details.” You genuinely wondered what Bruce Wayne’s version of the Talk was, but you continued,
“Okay, but, Damian, Jason and I do those things because we love each other. It’s a sign of mutual respect and appreciation for us,” Damian’s eyebrow perked, but he remained silent, “And I know that you may feel like Jason isn’t good enough, but I love Jason more than he could ever comprehend. And I know that Jason doesn’t love me any less.” Damian huffed,
“If I were courting you I would demonstrate my respect and appreciation without the need for merely physical endeavors.” You gave the pre-teen a small smile,
“Aw, Dami. I’m sure one day you’ll find a lovely person who’s worthy of you.” Damian glanced up at you,
“If you and my brother were to end your courtship-” you let out a small laugh and ruffled the kid’s hair,
“Sure, Damian. If in ten years, I’ve broken up with Jason, you can shoot your shot,” you said jokingly, but the look in Damian’s eye showed that you may have to clarify that with him. He opened his mouth to speak before the said item of your affections walked into the theater and plopped down next to you.
“Hey, doll-” Jason started but was interrupted when Damian stood up and pointed directly at your boyfriend’s chin.
“Hear this now, Todd: if you ever make the foolish mistake of betraying this perfect woman, know that she will be cared for in ways that you would never be able to achieve even with a completed lifetime,” with that, he walked over to Dick (who was awkwardly standing at the door, having heard the declaration) with his nose high in the air.
“What the hell was that about?” Jason grumbled as he pressed a kiss to your head. You smiled and pulled his arm over your shoulder,
“Nothing. We just had a small chat about my chastity and how unworthy you are of me,” Jason’s arm tightened around you and he pulled you closer to his chest with a low growl, “Brat better back off; you’re mine and he knows it.” At that, you were briefly reminded of when you texted Tim to ask if the possessiveness was a full moon thing (the results are still TBD). You hummed and pressed a small kiss to his cheek,
“Yes, yes; you’re my big bad wolfie,” Jason sighed but relaxed into the couch, “How was your talk with Bruce?”
“Good,” a warmth settled in your chest as Jason gave you a small, reassuring smile, “He apologized for last night,” your eyebrows skyrocketed at that, “And he said that he really liked you.”
“Aw, the big softie.”
“Yup. He said, and I quote, ‘your choice in life partner is remarkably impressive,” you grinned, “and that you’re good for me.”
“Well, I’m glad that me yelling at him worked out in our favor.”
“Wait, what?”
“Also, I totally told him about the traumatic incident earlier,” Tim interrupted, planting himself next to Damian and Dick. You snorted,
“So he knows that his rebellious son is secretly a huge sap in the bedroom?” Jason ‘hmphed’ and turned away with pinkened cheeks.
(You definitely weren’t as cocky when the two of you left the next day and Bruce handed Jason a box of magnums and a Planned Parenthood pamphlet on safe sex.)
Once the the rest of the family filled in, it became clear to you that choosing the movie may take more time than actually watching it.
“No! Last time we let Dick choose we watched Clueless for the third time!” Tim shouted, “Why not watch the Wendy the Werewolf Stalker movie-”
“Drake! We are not watching your American brain-melting garbage just so that you may impress Jon’s brother!” Damian hissed and you noted with a perked eyebrow that Tim turned bright red and quickly conceded.
“Okay, but what about Little Women?” Jason offered, “Dick, I know you love Emma Watson and Cass, the visuals are amazing.” Cass simply shrugged. You were glad to know that there was at least one person who didn’t have a concerning amount of hard opinions on movie night.
“How about Pulp Fiction?” Bruce proposed as he helped Alfred carry in the popcorn, “It’s my favorite.” All of the children groaned at that.
“Perhaps, since we have a guest, we should let Miss (Y/n) decide,” Alfred said once the last of the popcorn bowls were distributed. The family all turned to you expectantly.
“Uh... Parasite? I heard that won a bunch of-” you were cut off as Dick groaned,
“Damian made us watch that last time!” Damian crossed his arms in proud approval.
“If no one can decide on anything, then I’m just gonna choose the first thing we see on Netflix!” Jason shouted as his siblings started bickering again.
“Fine!”
“Fine!”
“Whatever.”
The absolutely heinous cackle that you let out was definitely worth getting glared at by your werewolf boyfriend and his entire werewolf family when Netflix recommended...

“Get him out!” Peter jumped as a man was shoved in front of him, “I don’t want that piece of boiling human filth anywhere near me or this baby! Out! OUT!” a voice shrieked as the man that had been thrown out was then grabbed roughly by the arm and dragged away.
Peter (who had only been in the hospital as Spider-Man to visit some Make-A-Wish kids) looked into the room when he heard more screaming. And then there you were, clad in a hospital gown, legs propped up into stirrups, and your face completely drenched in sweat and wet hair strands.
“Get me a pillow, stress ball, anything, but I am having this damn baby, and I definitely don’t need that douchebag to do it! Hey, you!” Suddenly, you made eye contact with and pointed at Peter, whose eyebrows shot up.
“Y-Yeah? Me?”
“You wanna help deliver a baby, today?” Considering that he came into this hospital to help people, and how fiercely your eyes were pinning his soul in place, Peter nodded immediately.
“Yeah, sure!” Dropping his backpack at the door, Peter rushed to your side, where your hand reached out for his.
“Uh, hi. My name is Peter. Peter Parker,” he said, taking your hand earnestly.
“Nice to meet you, my name is- Aah!” you released a moan and gripped Peter’s hand.
“Is-Is she pushing? Now?” Peter asked, slightly panicking at your pained expression. In contrast, the doctor remained (almost rudely) impassive and replied,
“Nope. That was just an initial contraction. Aright, folks, we are currently still stationed at minus two and we’re going to push in a little bit so get ready, alright?” the OB eyed both parties.
“You ready?” you asked Peter, a wearied yet determined smirk playing at your lips. Peter swallowed, his pulse continuing to skyrocket, before replying,
“Yeah! Totally, let’s-let’s have a baby!” Peter made an enthusiastic thumbs-up with his free hand. You laughed a little at his energy, and nodded, repeating,
“Let’s have a baby.”
-
Being bitten by a radioactive spider gave Peter a couple of pretty cool powers. For instance: he could stick to walls, had this really neat spidey-sense, heightened agility, and-
None of those did anything to prepare him for his hand being literally crushed by your grip.
Don’t freak out, don’t freak out, don’t- OW! Peter was pretty sure he said that last thought out loud.
Peter had been there for nearly twenty minutes now and there was still no baby. He vaguely recalled Mrs. Jackson down in 4D saying that she had been in labor for twenty hours, so he supposed that this was only the beginning.
Peter didn’t remember much from the extremely graphic reproduction video he watched in his tenth grade health class, but he did remember the narrator saying, “The father, at this time provides emotional support to the mother as she continues to push.” He also remembered thinking that the father was basically useless in this whole process. And now, standing there and repeating different flavors of “C’mon, you’re doing great!” that thought echoed (quite loudly) in his skull.
“Okay, okay, take a breath in and push in 3, 2-” Another groan was pulled from your lungs as you squeezed Peter’s soul out through his fingers.
After about a minute of coaching from the doctor and some cussing on your end, the doctor said,
“Alright and...” a wet cry was heard and you let out a small sob, “The head is out!” the doctor called out, along with the station number.
“Oh my- (Y/n) you’re almost there!” Peter shouted, excitedly, and you nodded as a few tears escaped your eyes. “Hey, hey,” Peter said, reaching with his free hand to wipe at the tears, “You’re almost at the finish line, okay?” you whimpered and nodded, “So let’s get there, alright? Together?” You let out a heavy exhale through your mouth and nodded,
“Okay. T-Together.” With another countdown from the OB, you began pushing again in and out in and-
“Time of birth, 3:24 P.M.,” the doctor called, holding your slimy, beautiful infant in her arms.
“Congratulations!” one of the nurses cheers, taking the shrieking baby from the doctor and wrapping it in a soft towel, “It’s a girl!” Tears were now running freely down your face and you broke out into a smile as the nurse placed the baby on your sweaty chest.
“Hi, baby. I’m your mama. How are you?” you asked, your voice wet with emotion and joy. The infant immediately stopped crying at the sound of your voice, instead resorting to squirming in your arms, her eyes still sealed.
Peter felt tears filling under his eyes as he took in the wriggling infant, noticing immediately how alike the two of you looked already.
“She’s gorgeous,” Peter whispered, unable to tear his eyes away from the sight of the new life in front of him and her equally gorgeous mother. Peter wiped his damp hand on his jeans before fishing for his phone,
“Can I?” he asked you, and you simply nodded, face still bright and whispering at your daughter. For once, Peter found his job of taking pictures actually serving a real purpose.
He captured the sight of mother—hair and face shiny from sweat and tears with your cheeks pulled back from a blinding grin—and child—still covered in gunk which filled in the creases of her face and tiny healthy-colored fingers gripping and closing at nothing. He captured a moment so beautiful—so powerful—that no other picture he could possibly take will ever compare.
After snapping a few pictures and two short videos of you whispering to the newborn, the nurse asked,
“What’s the little girl’s name?” You replied without looking away from your daughter,
“Cassandra. Cassandra Alexandra (L/n).”
“Okay, Nurse Jack is gonna go clean up and observe little Cassandra for a second, Mom, get ready to push again, alright? It’s just the placenta, this time,” the doctor said. You nodded but Peter was still stuck staring at the baby being handed to Nurse Jack’s arms.
“D-Do you want me to keep...?” Peter half-asked, gesturing vaguely to his phone. You smiled warmly at him and replied,
“Yeah, yeah. Go get me some memories, Pete.” Ignoring the way his stomach flipped at “Pete,” Peter walked toward the baby, phone in hand.
Nurse Jack was a tall man with graying hair and a body softened by age, but his eyes and hands were sharp as he quickly and skillfully examined Cassandra.
He swiftly wiped across the baby’s face and body, and then expunged her mouth and nostrils using some weird bulb-y thing, prompting the newborn to let out a chipmunk-like sneeze. Another nurse walked over (while Peter was still snapping away) holding a clipboard and Nurse Jack grabbed a stethoscope.
“Okay, appearance is a two and respiration appears normal,” he called, prompting Peter to begin recording a new video. Nurse Jack then measured the baby’s heartbeat before calling out a few other hospital terms, with the other nurse jotting them down. Finally, Nurse Jack paused his examination, gesturing toward Peter,
“Dad, you ready to cut the cord?” Peter then shook his head nervously,
“Uh no, I’m-I’m not actually the father I’m just-”
“How old are you?” you interrupted tiredly from afar, now resting in the hospital bed, with your legs down. Peter’s eyebrows furrowed a little bit but replied,
“Twenty-three. I’m actually a photographer over at the Bugle.” You nodded and addressed Nurse Jack,
“Yeah, he’s the step-father. You get it?” Peter’s eyebrows flew toward his hairline about to protest at this (definitely probably illegal) exchange but Nurse Jack merely shrugged and excitedly gestured with his shoulder,
“Well alright, Dad, get over here!” Peter looked back at you again, causing you to chuckle and nod toward the table the baby was lying on.
“Go on, Dad.” Peter—unable to say no to you by this point—gave an awkward laugh before pocketing his phone and grabbing the shears extend toward him. The umbilical cord was clamped twice near the belly and there was a small piece of gauze underneath.
“Alright, so it might be a little tough to- never mind.” Peter snipped off the cord as if he was slicing through paper, forgetting to reign in his super strength for he was still in shock and awe at the small baby who was wriggling and stretching out her arms and she was just so tiny-
Nurse Jack then clipped a white hospital band onto Cassandra’s ankle and took the shears from Peter.
“Hey,” he whispered, forcing Peter to tear his eyes away from the infant, “Between us, this baby would honestly be far better off with you as a father than the P.O.S. I tossed out earlier.” Peter’s eyebrows furrowed at the man,
“What are you-” Nurse Jack shook his head with a sigh, turning to Cassandra with a striped blanket and a small, pink hat.
“Now, I’ve seen this type of thing before in my nine years; so many times a man walks in here with the audacity,” Nurse Jack scoffed, clearly remembering some aforementioned men, “But you? A kid who helped a stranger’s delivery on a whim? Who knows? This could’ve taken twenty-something hours but you dropped everything and took her hand like you were the real sperm donor.” Nurse Jack’s eyes crinkled a bit as he smiled, handing Peter (who immediately held out his arms in the correct position) the now-swaddled baby.
“Thanks,” Peter whispered, looking back down at Cassandra. Her eyes were still closed and her tiny fingers were peeking out from the blanket. Nurse Jack nodded gently before walking back to where you were catching your breath.
“Alright, Mom, we’re all cleaned up, and we’ll have a scanner in real quick for some footprints, but for now, I’ll let you and the little darling get to know each other.” Nurse Jack nodded promptly before walking out of the room, closing the door behind him.
You reached out your arms toward Cassandra,
“Here, lemme see the little thing that just cost me the most painful experience of my life,” you said jokingly and Peter gently placed her in your arms. You cradled the child to your chest, already feeling calmer by simply breathing in her scent.
“I’ve always loved that smell—that new baby smell,” you mumbled, completely entranced by your resting daughter. Peter pulled up the plastic hospital chair to sit next to you.
“Honestly, I haven’t been around too many babies in my life,” Peter replied softly, just as entranced by the sight in front of him. You simply hummed in response before closing your eyes and taking another deep inhale of your daughter.
Despite going through one of the most painful and strenuous things the human body can experience, your face was full of serenity and peace as you filled your lungs with the scent of new life. Peter watched silently, acknowledging how beautiful the woman in front of him was. How strong, courageous and gorge-
Suddenly feeling as if he was intruding greatly, Peter moves to stand up,
“Well, I guess I should, like, get goi-”
“No.” Peter paused at the quiet demand. You, appearing to have realized what you had said, opened your eyes and looked at him, that once fierce gaze now soft and wet.
“Please. Stay for a little bit? I’ve got no one else, right now.” To be honest, you couldn’t care less if you were asking too much of this stranger—you just gave birth!—but if you could find a way to keep this kind man with the worried eyes to yourself for as long as possible, you would.
Peter sat back down instantly, secretly cheering the fact that he was allowed—no, asked—to stay in this little bubble of warmth and magic.
“I never believed in love at first sight,” you began, “But when the nurse placed her on my chest, I could feel my heart bursting at its seams.” Peter, surprisingly, understood a little of how you felt.
“She’s beautiful,” he replied, staring at your face. “How did you choose her name? If you don’t mind me asking?” You snorted lightly, still not looking away from Cassandra, who was now clinging to her mother’s pinky in her sleep.
“You just saw my vagina spit out a human, Pete. Ask me whatever you want.” Peter chuckled a bit at that, “But I named her after my best friend from high school. She died a couple years ago back in the Battle of New York. One of the strongest woman I’ve ever met. We both promised one night while we were drunk that if we ever died young that we’d name something crazy after each other. Well, a child is something, right?” Every word you spoke seemed to pull Peter stronger and stronger toward you, as if you were an electromagnet that only increased in strength. Was it your voice? The look of love filling your eyes? The way that your sticky hair framed your face so well?
Peter only replied,
“Sure is.” A few more moments passed in silence before the burning question in Pete’s mind was blurted out, “What did Cassandra’s father do to get kicked out?” Your eyebrows immediately pulled tight across your forehead for a second, before leaning down to kiss at your daughter’s nose, face relaxing instantaneously.
“Well, legally you’re her father,” you muttered. Peter nodded (you weren’t wrong after all), “But my scumbag of an ex-boyfriend heard me crying out while I was giving birth to his child,” you said through gritted teeth, “and told me to shut up because he couldn’t hear the commentators on the Mets game.” Peter felt his blood began to heat, his teeth grinding.
“He said what?” Peter hissed, trying to remain quiet for the sake of Cassandra. You lifted a slightly amused eyebrow at his expression and tightened fists, “What kind of scumbag says that to a woman while she’s bringing life into this-” Peter stopped at the sound of your soft chuckle. His cheeks began to grow heat up and he hesitantly apologized, ignoring the cadence of your soft laugh.
“Sorry, it’s just- You’ve been so nervous and awkward all day. It’s nice to see you riled up about something.” Peter felt his face continue to heat and he carefully unclenched his fist.
“W-Well, he’s an absolute piece of trash, and you were one hundred percent right to kick him out,” Peter muttered, now staring down mutedly at his hands.
A few moments passed in silence, until Peter heard a small sniffle.
“(Y/n)? Wh-What’s wrong?” he asked, immediately standing up when he noticed small streams of tears flowing down your cheeks, gathering at your chin. Your glassy eyes turned from your daughter up to him,
“I don’t know how I’m gonna do this,” you whispered, “How am I going to raise this little girl alone? I can’t depend on my parents forever. And I definitely can’t ask my ex... Peter, what am I gonna do?” Small sobs were now racking your shoulders, and you pulled Cassandra closer toward your chest, your tears soaking into the blanket.
Peter’s heart nearly tore into two as he watched this amazing, powerful woman (who just gave birth after dumping a pig man) break down in pitiful tears. Lowering back down into his seat, he gently rested his hand on your chin, redirecting your attention on him.
“Hey, (Y/n). It’s gonna be okay,” Peter said softly. You shook your head “no” but Peter continued on, “It’s gonna be hard as,” Peter glanced down to the infant between you, “fudge.I mean—I can’t sit here and tell you it’ll be easy, because it won’t. But you know what?” You blinked at him, clearly not going to reply, “I literally just met you —like a few hours ago—and you are the strongest person that I have ever met in my life. And I’ve met Spider-Man.” You let out a small chuckle and then looked back down at your daughter.
“But how am I going to provide this little baby with everything she’ll need? What if she gets sick and then I have to go to work and leave her all alone? How am I going to pay for her college by myself? Peter I-” Peter interrupted you with a quiet shush and asked,
“Hey, can I call someone real quick? Someone I’d like you to talk to.” You sniffed but nodded. Peter found the contact and put the phone on speaker, careful not to set it too loud.
“Hello? Peter?” a thick Brooklyn accent flew from the top if the phone,
“Hey, Mrs. Jackson. Yeah, it’s me. I’m just here with my good friend, (Y/n), and we were wondering if we could ask you about Mike.”
“Oh! Mikey my little baby. Did you know that he got into medical school over at Cornell? He’s so smart and he’s gonna be a doctor!” Peter smiled at you as he listened.
“Yeah, I just think it’s so admirable that you raised him and his siblings all on your own,” Your eyebrows raised at that, “Like, I can’t imagine how hard it was. How did you do it?”
“Well it wasn’t easy, I’ll tell you that,” Mrs. Jackson replied with a sigh, “But it’s the little things that make it all worth it, y’know? It’s not just the graduations or the medical school acceptances; it’s about the little ‘thank you’s when you make them dinner or the way they look when they learn to park for the first time. Raising a beautiful soul is such a gift, you know? So you have to remember to relish the small beauties.” You felt a few more tears fall as you glanced back at Cassandra.
With the old woman’s few words, you could already see it.
You could already see her: her first steps, her first day of kindergarten, and even her wedding day—all of it. She was a gorgeous creature and you were lucky enough to bring her into this world, and let alone be allowed to love her throughout the rest of your life.
“Thanks, Mrs. Jackson. You really did an amazing job with Mike. He’s an amazing kid, just like his mom,” Peter said, looking pointedly toward you.
“Well thank you, Peter. You’re very kind. Now, how is your aunt doing? I was actually thinking of making some blueberry pound cake and I know she always loved it.” Peter chuckled and continued to make polite conversation with his neighbor. Meanwhile, you looked back into your daughters eyes and let everything go still.
All you could feel, smell, and see were her teeny, tiny breaths on the skin of your goose-pimpled chest. And you knew, then, that you’d figure it out.
It definitely wasn’t going to be easy, that much was clear. But you were given a gift, a brand new, magnificent person that you were going to love and cherish and know well after you took your last breath.
At some point during this revelation, Peter ended the call with Mrs. Jackson. But he didn’t say anything to you. He just let you have this one moment, to yourself and to your daughter, to feel at peace.
While the world outside was loud and scary and busy, in this small hospital room, it was silent.
No noise.
No scum-of-the-earth ex-boyfriends.
No loud, but well-meaning neighbors.
Just the tired breathing of a brand new mother, the gurgles of new life, and the pounding hearts of a few people, falling in love for the very first time.
-
“Daddy!”
“Cassie!” Peter crouched down and outstretched his arms as the little girl in yellow shorts and matching baseball cap came barreling toward him. She crashed into his chest, knocking the edge of her hat on his shoulder.
Peter chuckled and wrapped one arm under his daughter and used the other to grab her fallen hat. Standing up, he asked in that baby voice reserved only for his daughter,
“How was daycare?”
“It was so cool! Mr. Greene let us all choose our own books to take home! And look! I got Mommy’s favorite! The butterfly one!” Peter could only imagine your face when Cass comes home with a third copy of A Very Hungry Caterpillar. You tell a kid one time what your favorite book is and then they decide you needed a small collection of it.
Walking back to the car, child and hat in tow, Peter asked,
“Alright, Cassie. Do you remember that super secret mission we had planned for today? When your mommy comes home?” As he opened the minivan door his daughter nodded excitedly and bounced in her car seat.
“Yeah! It’s Mommy’s wedding anniversary and we’re gonna get three flowers and three cupcakes and that really pretty diamond-” Peter quickly shut the minivan door so as to not have the entire town hear his anniversary plans. But even as he got into the drivers seat and started up the “Cocomelon” playlist, Cassandra was still chattering about her never ending ways to surprise her mom. Peter’s wife.
Even after three years of blissful (but sleep-deprived) marriage, Peter still couldn’t believe that he got to call you his wife. One afternoon Spider-Man meet-and-greet had literally changed his entire life.
Sometimes he thinks about how different his life would be if he had just passed by that hospital room a second earlier and not have seen you throw out Sal (who has thankfully been loyally paying his court-ordered child support).
What would he be doing? Still swinging around from buildings and skyscrapers? Not caring about a thing in the world?
Probably.
But he never dwelled on those thoughts for long. Spider-Man wasn’t needed in Manhattan anymore, but Peter Parker was needed in Arlington, now. He was needed for lunchbox packing, nap times, and those foot rubs for his amazing wife at the end of her long bureau work days.
Thinking back to when he proposed, Peter can still remember your wide, sparkling eyes. He’d only seen that moment once beforehand, and that was when you’d first met.
So while being a vigilante in one of the greatest cities in the world had its perks, nothing compared to that look in those eyes.
All of these (amazing, amazing) changes were everything Peter Parker lived for.

-Honestly, you being a witch was literally the last thing that the Winchesters noticed when you first met.
-In fact, they only noticed how freaking fast you seemed to be.
The boys had been in Illinois hunting down some creature that was turning people inside out.
Because two of the victims had been friends of yours back in high school, you were the authorities’ prime suspect.
The local law enforcement had already interrogated you, demanded alibis, and had even busted into your house with some bogus warrant the night before.
So naturally, when two men in suits approached your door, you immediately booked it, with the Infamous Winchesters hot on your tail.
Your house was relatively secluded, surrounded almost entirely by forestry, so it was pretty easy for you to disappear.
Of course, having some... “assistance” gave you quite an advantage.
-The boys eventually gave up on chasing you after a solid mile of sprinting after nothing and just staked out in your house until you came back.
Honestly, your house did look a little bit like a witch’s cottage from a Grimm Brothers story.
Plants, living and dried, were practically everywhere; hanging from the ceiling, lined along window sills, and even potted all over the wooden floors.
There were polished crystals and incense sticks littered over every available surface (including in the kitchen).
And another major red flag: there wasn’t a single functioning light switch. The house was solely lit by candles.
Honestly, the candles should’ve been all the confirmation they needed that you were a witch.
It wasn’t until they found a hidden staircase behind an old armrest that they discovered your identity.
There wasn’t anything special in the secret basement. Just some pentagrams, old spell books, and maybe your mother’s inside-out corpse.
Whoops.
-The second that your foot stepped through your door frame, a pair of iron handcuffs were clicked onto your right wrist.
You let out a shriek and fell down to the ground and Dean slammed the door shut behind you, the other cuff clicking shut around your left wrist.
“F-Freaking hunters!” You spat, trying to sit back up and get a good look at them. “Oh, never mind. Winchesters.”
In retrospect, hissing at them probably wasn’t the best way to demonstrate your innocence.
“Yeah, yeah, can it Blair Witch Project. Now here’s what’s going to happen,” Dean said, pulling up a chair and man-spreading in front of you.
“Um, before that, could you please cross your legs? I don’t need to be reminded that you have more testosterone than brain cells.”
That immediately made a vein pop out of his neck.
-The Winchesters began interrogating you, to which you either went totally silent or retorted back some biting insult at their age or something.
“So, you’re a witch, huh?”
“Wow. The-The real brainpower that you’re practically oozing. I’m stunned, really. Does Stephen Hawking know about you? Because I think that he’s got someserious competition-”
“Dean put the fire poke down!”
-Eventually, however, they got onto the topic of the body currently sitting in your basement.
“Are you two done? I’ve already told you that I had nothing to do with those poor meat suits. I’m just an innocent witch doin’ her thing in the woods like a naked wood nymph in a renaissance painting.”
Sam rolled his eyes at that one.
“Really? Well if you’re that innocent then can you please explain the dead body in your basement?”
Dammit.
-Explaining that your mother had been murdered the same as your friends was easy. Explaining that you hadn’t been the one to murder them was not as such.
-Unsurprisingly, it took a lot of work to convince the Winchesters that you weren’t the killer.
“So, you’re telling me that we’ve got five dead people who looked like they’ve been chewed up and spitted out by an oversized bear, a witch in the middle of the woods, and one of the dead bodies in said witch’s house... But that witch is completely innocent. Is that correct?”
You shrugged at the elder Winchester.
“Sounds about right to me.”
-Fortunately, the thing that did kill all of those people showed up at your very house.
-Trying to kill you.
-Guess who wasn’t the killer, then?
“Ha! I told you, you pale-looking sasquatch!” you shouted, still handcuffed on the floor.
“Is this really the time to gloat!?” Sam shouted, shooting at the flying creature above his head.
“Uh, well I might die in a few seconds, so yeah! I’m gonna gloat!”
-You were able to recognize the monster as a corrupted familiar of one of your exes.
-How in the hell she managed to corrupt her perfect little snow owl was beyond you.
-But once the creature was taken down (after a lot of salt rocks and incantations, on your part) the three of you were able to put the pieces together pretty quickly.
“So... Roberta?” Dean said,
You nodded.
“Your ex-girlfriend?”
You nodded, again, your jaw clenched tightly.
“Sent her messed-up familiar after you because you decided to apply to community college?”
Crossing your (now-freed) arms over your chest, you let out a small snarl.
“No, dipstick, try to use those giant ears of yours to listen to me.”
The air had started to thicken a bit with the scent of lavender and Honeycrisp to the point of a thin mist falling through the dining room.
Sam had to hold Dean down from launching from his chair.
“Uh, okay, okay, k-keep going.”
“I broke up with her because she hexed my Malcolm X application, all so that she could force me to move with her to the East Coast. The guy who read my application got hit by a bus! All the while, she enjoys her cushy life at NYU all because she charmed her stupid way in! What a practical scoundrel!”
Your breathing had grown harsher and tears began springing at the corners of your eyes.
Dean’s nostrils flared, but he kept his mouth shut. Sam, on the other hand, pursed his lips and both allowed you to keep talking.
The aroma kept getting thicker.
“And-And then she found out I was dating this new guy, Steve, even though she literally hasn’t seen me in months and decides to just kill him! And I really, really liked him! He bought me a pair of Louboutins! And then, when she decides that she just can’t have enough of me, she goes for my mother! My only family in this hick Illinois town!”
You were gripping your forearms so tightly that small vines had started to bloom along your skin, with leaves freckling along your veins.
Slowly, the mist over the dining table dispersed and was replaced with a heavy silence.
Sam spoke first.
“(Y/n), I’m so sorry. We were wrong.”
You snorted and wiped at your eyes, the vines on your arms slowly fading.
“Yeah, I’m well aware. Just another garbage part of my garbage life.”
“Well, are you gonna just sit on your ass and whine, or are you gonna do somethin’ about it?”
Dean surprised you at that.
“What?” you demanded.
“Well, you know where this monster’s goin’ to school, right? Let’s head over and hang that witch!”
Despite the anti-witch joke, you allowed yourself to smile.
“For real? You’d help me do that?”
Dean stood up and stuck his hand out.
“Heck yeah!” you exclaimed and grabbed his hand.
Dean grimaced and pulled you up.
“We’re gonna have to work on your language.”
-Ever since the three of you hunted down your ex and got your... dutiful revenge, you’d been practically inseparable.
-In fact, you moved in with them at the bunker nearly the next day.
Whether or not this had anything to do with you now being wanted by the State of Illinois as a suspected serial killer, was absolutely irrelevant.
-Of course, the transition wasn’t entirely too smooth.
“No. No way.”
“Dean, she needs it for her herbs. And, besides, maybe the light will do us some good.”
“The whole point of a bunker, Sammy, is to be underground. What is the point of being underground if we build an entire greenhouse?”
You rolled your eyes at the two of them, who were completely unaware that you’d already commandeered an empty room to turn into an indoor garden.
Oops.
-But, the three of you (plus Castiel, occasionally) got along well.
“So you are a witch?”
“Mm-hmm.”
“Who did you make your deal with?”
“Huh?”
“Was it Crowley? Or another crossroads demon?”
“What?”
“How did you attain your powers?”
“I don’t know? Being born?”
“Cas, leave her alone!”
-You and Dean tended to clash... A lot. But after every argument, Dean would always fess up and admit that you were right.
And you were always right.
-But hunting together always brought the three of you closer together.
“So, when you aim, make sure to give about three seconds of-”
You interrupted Sam with a quick shot from your rifle and the squawk of a vamp.
“I grew up as a witch in the middle of nowhere, Illinois. I think I know how to shoot a whole vampire.”
You definitely noticed Dean’s smug grin at that.
-You and Castiel would constantly complain about the two of them when they weren’t there.
“I just don’t understand what he means when he puts his hands on his hips and says ‘Let’s rock and roll.’“
You chuckled and took a sip of your tea.
“I think that he’s slowly turning into a boomer and just doesn’t realize it.”
“Who are you two talking about!?”
-The longer that you all lived together, though, the easier it was to feel comfortable around each other.
“You feelin’ okay?” Sam asked, noticing you gripping your abdomen.
“Yeah... Just cramps. Can you fetch me some chamomile and dill from my garden?”
Sam was out the door before you finished your sentence, knowing exactly where you kept your period stash.
-In both good ways and bad.
“Mornin’ boys,” Dean called, walking into the kitchen wearing just his boxers.
You immediately gagged into your oatmeal.
-You naturally became a bit of an emotional translator for the boys, which they desperately needed, being two heterosexual men.
“What... Is happening?”
Sam and Dean had been aggressively eating their breakfast while staring each other down.
Neither Winchester responded to you.
“Are you still arguing over the pie incident from yesterday?”
Their simultaneous pause in chewing answered that for you.
“The two of you are absolutely unbelievable.”
You sat down next to them at the small round table and grabbed their hands.
“Sam, you knew that Dean had been eyeing the cherry, so you need to apologize for intentionally ordering it while he was in the bathroom. While I agree that his reaction was hilarious, you should’ve known the repercussions were not worth it.”
Sam remained silent but nodded at you.
“And Dean, it is not an 80s gangster film. You have got to stop pulling out your piece every time you don’t get the cherry!”
Both boys bristled but remained silent.
“Now. What do you have to say for yourselves?”
Sam spoke first.
“Dean. I’m sorry that I ordered the last piece of the cherry pie and ate it in two bites while you were in the bathroom.”
“Good,” you turned to Dean, “And you?”
Dean crossed his arms over his chest.
“Sam, I’m sorry that you’ve never grown up past preschool and-”
“Dean!”
He huffed.
“I’m sorry that I tried to shoot your kneecaps over food, again.”
The two of them sighed, but there was a definite weight removed from the atmosphere.
“Good job using your words, you two.”
You ruffled both of their heads like you would any other dogs.
Damn, are you glad that you worked at that daycare over the summer of your junior year.
-One change you’d noticed as time passed with the boys, was that they got oddly protective of you.
“Where’re you off to?” Dean asked, noticing your new Doc Martens and... Was that eyeliner?
“Out. Gotta date.”
Dean’s eyebrows flew up at that and even Sam looked up from his book.
“What? With who? Where?”
You groaned and flew up the stairs.
“With this guy I met on Tinder, it’s just a-”
“A dating app!?”
“Do you seriously want to get murdered? Do you!?”
-You always wondered (having no father, yourself) what it was like to have two dads. And now? You weren’t wondering anymore.
-Sometimes, they let you practice your witchcraft on them. Which was fun.
“Are you 100% sure about this, (Y/n)?”
“Yes, stop asking me, or I’m gonna mess up!”
Dean groaned and shifted again in his chair.
“Got the weed wacker, Sam?”
Sam threw you a thumbs up.
“Alright, three, two...”
You closed your eyes and honed in on Dean’s breathing, his pulse, and the blood rushing through his veins.
“One.”
When you opened your eyes, Dean was covered up to his neck in glowing green vines, wrapping around his arms, legs, and torso.
“I did it!”
“Wow, you really did!” Sam exclaimed.
“Yup. Amazing. Now get me out of these twigs!”
Despite Dean’s over-the-top reaction, you knew that he was proud of you, too.
-Sometimes, though, during nights where you felt anxious or your heart ached for your late mother, you no longer reached for herbs or charmed candles. Instead, you just walked down the hallway and reached out to whichever Winchester was awake.
-Or sometimes, both of them.
“You okay, (Y/n)?” Sam asked, looking up from his iPad.
Dean stood up, noticing the familiar vines lacing your arms and creeping up your neck.
You walked over to where the boys were lounging on the leather sofa in the living area and sat in between them.
“Did something happen? Was it that guy from last ni-”
“Dean.” Sam scolded.
You shook your head and tucked your knees into your chest.
“N-No. I just... I can’t be alone right now. Is it okay if I stay up with you guys?”
Both Winchesters immediately relaxed and sat back against the sofa with you.
“Of course, kiddo. Hey. You wanna make some of that old school popcorn on the stove? We could watch some horror movies and make fun of all the things they get wrong.”
You snorted at Dean’s idea but a small smile grew on your face.
“Yeah. Sure. But only if Sammy makes his hot chocolate for me.”
You gave the taller brother a small grin and he instantly stood up.
Damn. He was easy.
The three of you quickly settled back into the living room (popcorn, hot chocolate, and fuzzy blankets included) and spent the rest of the evening together, making fun of American Werewolf in London.
When you woke up the next afternoon morning, swamped by both oversized hunters, you realized that a small part of you had been put to rest.
That sharp yearning for a proper, warm, loving family had ceased.
You knew that you had a true home now, and that you were finally safe.
Well, as safe as any witch living underground with two hunters in the middle of Kansas could be.

Honestly, you should’ve noticed it sooner; the constant need for cuddles, the (literal) monster appetite, his obsession with your hair, and even his enormous family. Of course, that was just off the top of your head, but the giant black wolf with glowing red eyes in front of you was sort of short-circuiting your brain.
-
“Oh here she comes,” you sang and continued to check over your Biology homework. As you highlighted, check-marked, and notated you didn’t even notice your boyfriend enter your dorm room with a foreboding smirk on his face.
“Watch out boy, she’ll chew you up,” you hummed when suddenly two hands wrapped around your stomach from behind you.
“He’s a babe-eater!” Jason roared as he lifted you up and off your chair. You shrieked twice, once in shock, and another in pure delight as you were tossed onto your flimsy twin bed. You landed on your butt laughing and Jason was quickly on top of you, flattening you against the mattress. He wrapped his arms around your torso and clasped his hands at your back, happily nuzzling his cheek against your stomach.
“Mm, you smell so good today, gorgeous.” You chuckled and got up onto your elbows to watch your boyfriend.
“Y’know, most people say ‘hello’ before manhandling their girlfriends,” you cooed, running a hand through Jason’s black hair in the way that you knew he liked. Jason simply shrugged against you and replied,
“Have I ever been most people, though?” You rolled your eyes and plopped back against your bed.
“Whatever. I needed to take a break from bio, anyway.” The two of you remained like that on your bed for a while, just chatting. You talked about your days, some plans for the weekend, and even a few conspiracy theories. However, when your digital clock flashed “6:00″ you gently patted Jason’s shoulder and sat up.
“I have to get going,” Jason whined and tightened his arms around you. “Jason, c’mon. I’ve got a study date.”
“Date?” he growled, “I thought I was your boyfriend.” You snorted and pulled him off of you.
“Emphasis on 'study.' Besides, it’s a group study date. Angelique, Ulee, Jackson,”
“Jackson?” Jason cut in, “He’s a total creep! I heard he just hangs by the library to-”
“Jason,” you chastised. Jason grumbled a bit more but shut his mouth. “Besides, why are you complaining? Isn’t tonight family game night?” For someone who “hated” his brothers so much, you’d never seen Jason miss a game night at the manor. Jason sat up and groaned,
“I hate how you remember every little detail of my life,” he mumbled, and you saw his hand fly to the ring hanging from the chain around his neck. Ugh, he was so cute.
After packing your bag, you lowered yourself to his face, which was now pouting at his phone.
“Jason,” you cooed.
“Mmph.”
“I’ll be back at my dorm around eight, by the way. I’ll text you when I get back,” He was still silent, “I love you,” you whispered and pecked his cheek. You stood up when he gently grabbed your wrist.
“I love you, too,” he mumbled. You tried to hold yourself back from “rewarding bad behavior” as Cosmopolitan put it, but then he pressed a kiss against your palm and you tackled him back onto your bed.
-
Sometimes you wondered how you and Jason ended up together. Honestly, if you really thought about it, it verged on a series of stalking incidents.
The two of you met in your Intro to Psychology class freshman year and after a few “coincidental” meetings at your favorite cafe (always at the same time and day, too) he asked you out and the rest is history. Which, coincidentally, was a class you shared this year, along with three others. Coincidentally.
But, he’s been a loving and nurturing boyfriend who’d never even pushed you past your boundaries unlike him. Sure, he was over-protective sometimes and his family was... overwhelming (but very loving, if not emotionally unstable) but you still loved him and knew that he loved you back just as much, if not more.
Honestly? It was simply a really nice feeling.
-
“Okay, I think that that’s a good place to stop for now,” Ulee said, shutting her pastel pink binder. The rest of you nodded and began packing up.
“Man, I am so screwed for this test, next week,” Max said as she stood up next to you,
“Well, if you think you’re screwed than maybe I shouldn’t even bother taking it,” you joked. She shook her head with a smile before heading out. After packing up all of your pens and highlighters, you stood and noticed Jackson standing at the doorway of the study room.
“Hey, (Y/n). Want me to walk you back to your dorm? It’s pretty late, after all.” Your internal alarm went off at the offer. He appeared genuine, but you could never be too careful around college guys.
Maybe you hung around Jason too much.
“Sorry, but, my boyfriend’s waiting for me back at my dorm,” you said, walking past him.
“Oh, it’s totally cool. Just wanted to make sure you were safe.” You nodded politely and waved as you left the library.
“Okay, see you in class, next week!” Jackson headed off and you sped into a brisk walk toward your dorm. It wasn’t too far, but you’d prefer to get back to Jason quicker sooner than later.
You had been walking for a few minutes when you heard the second set of footsteps.
-
Jason had noticed it. But he only brought it up the one time.
“Hey, sweetheart, can I ask you a question?” Jason asked from underneath you. You were still a bit drowsy from Alfred’s Christmas dinner but you shifted your head and hummed in confirmation.
“What was your ex like?” Your arms that had been slung over his shoulders tensed almost instinctively.
“Uh, why do you wanna know?” you tried your hardest to keep your voice even but you couldn’t stop the slight tremor.
“I’ve just... noticed a couple things that I think you might’ve picked up from him?” You sighed and sat up off of his chest, sitting up on the couch. Jason sensed the shift in mood and did the same.
“Do you really need to know?” you asked, sending him a pleading look. Jason picked up your right hand and let it rest in his palm, not necessarily grasping it, but allowing you to feel the heat of his skin against yours.
“I think I do if we’re going to go further into this.” You nodded and sucked in a breath.
“Alright. What do you wanna know?”
That evening you told Jason everything about Robert, your highschool “sweetheart”: the constant monitoring, the gaslighting, the verbal abuse, the cheating incident, and even the kidnapping attempt.
Jason simply listened next to you with his eyes on the carpet and his lips pressed into a tight line.
You’d never told anyone besides your parents about him, so you were a little wary on how he’d react.
“And... That’s when he was charged with five years and I haven’t seen him since.” You clasped your hands onto your lap and took in a breath. Saying it out loud was bringing back some strong emotions and you tried to remember some of the mental exercises you remembered from your therapist. You were vividly imagining the scent of freshly mowed grass in your mother’s backyard when Jason finally responded.
“I... I am so sorry.” His voice was low and raw and when you looked at him tears were lacing the edges of his eyes.
“Wh-What? What for? You didn’t do anything,” you said with an awkward chuckle. Jason sighed and shook his head, and sat up straight so that he could look at you.
“No. I’m sorry that you went through that. The fact that you were treated and-and abused like that is inconceivable!” Was that a growl? Jason took your tightly clasped hands in his, “You are one of the most amazing people that I’ve ever met and I ardently admire and love you.” You made a mental note to make fun of him for the Pride and Prejudice quotes. But the passion and hurt in his words hit right at your heart and you felt your throat close as tears began to make their way toward the corners of your eyes.
“It’s okay, I just-I’ve just never told anyone about this before. Well, besides the police and my parents, obviously.” Jason brought his hand up to cradle your left cheek and a tear fell down toward his fingertip.
“I love you. And thank you for telling me. I know you didn’t want to or have to, but you did. And I love you.” You sniffed and replied,
“You already said that,” you joked but Jason leaned forward to kiss your forehead.
“It’s because I meant it. And I just want you to know that if you ever feel like those feelings or anything come back up you can always count on me.” A few tears fell from the corners of your eyes and replied,
“I know.”
-
You were sprinting through the dark, with only the moonlight for visibility. You’d thrown your bookbag at him a while ago and you were trying to phone Jason, but each call went straight to voicemail. Where was he!?
Robert’s feet were thundering behind you and they were growing closer. Finally, you chucked your phone toward his head but, guessing by the sound of it shattering against cement, you missed.
It wasn’t long before his fingers made their way into your hair and he pulled you back. You gasped as your back collided with the sidewalk and clutched at your stomach. Robert stood over you, panting and grinning wildly. Your vision began to grow spotty but you still shielded your face from him as he grabbed at your torso.
“N-No,” you tried to shout, but the combination of the sprinting and having the wind knocked out of your lungs caused you to wheeze out instead.
“You have no clue how long I waited in that disgusting cell for you. I can’t wait to feel your skin on mine again,” you whimpered as he pulled you up by your shirt to your feet and began dragging you off onto the grass and toward the parking lot. You clawed at his hands on your t-shirt and tried to scream out for help as you were pulled along.
“Shut up! I will cut off your lips if you even-” within a second, you fell to the ground as his hand was ripped from your shirt. You groaned and attempted to pull yourself back up, completely ignoring why he dropped you.
It wasn’t until you heard the growling and slobbering that you decided to look back at him...
And the giant wolf on top of him. For a split second, you couldn’t tear your eyes away from the sight: the animal was roughly the size of a horse, with thick black fur (with a spot of white on its tail), and teeth the length of your entire hand.
It really was a magnificent creature.
The front paws were digging into Robert’s chest, black claws had started beading with blood, and the long snout was inches from his face. Robert shrieked and tried to shove the animal away before he started calling for you,
“(Y/n)! Call 911! Help me! Get it off of me!” You blinked back into the present and immediately stood up and bolted again. You heard Robert scream again along with a squish and a snap that flooded adrenaline back into your veins.
The slapping of your shoes against the sidewalk was the only thing you could focus on to distract yourself from the growling getting closer and closer and-
You were tackled from the side into the grass and landed on your back, coming face-to-face with the monster. All four paws were planted beside your torso and its nose sniffing at your cheek. You shut your eyes and waited for the eventual bite or growl or...
Did it just lick your face? You opened your eyes to see the wolf’s ears perked up and its head tilted to the side.
It looked like a puppy.
The wolf licked you again and gave a little whine, clearly expecting something. You tentatively reached your hand up toward its nose and the animal licked at your palm eagerly.
“What the...” you muttered when the wolf nosed at your hand so that you were stroking its head. With a bit more assurance, you slowly sat up (and the wolf took a few steps back) and ran your hand past the wolf’s cheek and behind its ears. The wolf made a purring sound and rubbed against your hand, encouraging you to continue... whatever this was.
You only stopped petting him when you felt your thumb catch on a chain.
“Hm? You gotta weird collar on you, bud,” you muttered, feeling along the wolf’s neck to find the tag. You finally pulled up a silver ring, almost identical to the rings that you and Jason wore.
Wait.
You looked along the inside of the ring for an engraving and found that it read,
“We are asleep,” you whispered, yanking your own ring off of your third finger and holding it next to the one around his neck. It was a gift for Jason’s birthday a month ago. He always wore it on a chain because it “Felt better that way.”
What was that myth about werewolves and silver?
“Until we fall in love,” Jason’s favorite Tolstoy quote.
You looked back into the wolf’s, or your boyfriend’s, eyes and whispered,
“Jason?” He barked in reply and gladly licked at your face, his thick tail wagging violently.
You, on the other hand, just sat there, staring, petrified by your own thoughts.
Was this what “Family Game Night” was? Were the rest of the Waynes like this? Did that mean vampires existed? How long had he been like this? Was there anything else he was hidi-
When he realized you weren’t responding, Jason let out a whine and pawed gently at your arm, tearing your sweater a bit. You blinked back into reality and quietly asked Jason to help you to your feet.
The walk back to your dorm was silent. After picking your bag back up, you allowed Jason to lead the way back. Jason walked in front of you, his tail stiff and his ears pressed tightly against his head. Every few steps he would look back to make sure that you were still there. Meanwhile, you were still trapped in the typhoon of your mind.
Fortunately, you had a single dorm, so there was no roommate to explain away the wild animal too. Without even turning on the light, you paused once the door shut behind you and Jason simply sat and stared at you from the ground.
You looked at him for a few seconds before sighing and letting your bookbag fall to the floor and kicking your shoes off. Still in your day clothes, bra, and makeup, you stalked to your bed and collapsed face-first onto it.
Jason whimpered and nosed at your hand when you didn’t immediately address him. Lifting a hand to pet his head you mumbled,
“I’m gonna go to sleep. We’ll talk in the morning. Stay.” Jason quickly climbed up onto the mattress, forcing you to readjust your position. Eventually, you were tucked between Jason’s back and the wall as he curled himself into a half-ball.
“Goodnight, Jason,” you whispered into his fur.
He purred in reply.
-
It wasn’t as if it was the first time it’d happened, but seeing Jason naked in your bed was always still a bit shocking.
You’d woken up facing Jason, his left arm wrapped around your middle and his right leg on top of both of yours damn, he’s huge. The pins and needles in your feet had woken you.
Letting out a content sigh, you untangled your feet and allowed yourself to rest: staring at Jason and tracing every detail of his face with your eyes. Watching Jason sleep was a private luxury that was reserved for you and (quoting Jason) “whoever manages to kill” him. Seeing him completely at peace (for the most part) filled your entire body with contentment, spreading from your chest down to your feet.
Too bad you had to remember what had happened the night before.
The events passed behind your eyes in flashes: the study date, Robert, and the wolf.
The werewolf.
You were not looking forward to that conversation.
Jason woke up a few minutes later and gave you that sleepy grin you loved so much before he, too, remembered.
Oh, the blissful ignorance that comes with waking up.
“Sleep well?” you asked, slightly amused by how he hurriedly threw a blanket over his torso. Jason winced before sitting up, the blanket still covering him.
“I’m sorry,” he muttered as you sat up, covered by yesterday’s clothes.
“For what? You technically saved me last night. Or, are you talking about how you’ve been lying to me when we’ve been dating for almost an entire year? Which one?” The look in your eye gave Jason the answer. He began to pick at his nails, which were caked with grass and mud, before responding.
“For lying to you.” He really did give the whole “kicked puppy dog” look an entirely new meaning. You crossed your arms over your chest and got comfortable,
“You’re a freaking werewolf?” Jason nodded. “And so are the rest of your family, I’m assuming?” He nodded again. “And you never thought to tell me?” He nodded again. “Jason, if you don’t start speaking words I’m going to shove you out of here with nothing but a damn pad.” Jason sighed and looked you in the eye.
“I’m sorry. I’ve never told anyone outside of the family. We’ve been like this for as long as anyone can remember. I wasn’t sure how you would react, or if you would even believe me.” You scoffed,
“Well seeing you with that chain on certainly did it for me,” Jason’s hand instinctively went to the ring. “Also, I thought werewolves couldn’t touch silver?” Jason chuckled a bit at that,
“That’s silver bullets. You’ve seen me use Alfred’s ancient silverware, haven’t you?” you pursed your lips, “I just wanted to keep it on even when I was in my wolf form. And, my paws are a bit too big for this.” Jason held the ring up to his left eye.
An awkward silence fell over the two of you after that.
Jason was clearly struggling with your lack of response; his fingers were tapping against his thigh and he was gnawing on his lip, almost aggressively. A part of you wanted to make him sweat a bit more, but you put him out of his misery,
“I’m not saying that I’m not mad at you for lying to me,” his eyes flew up to yours, “But, I’m glad that you finally told me and maybe saved my life, last night.” Jason grinned at that.
“It was pretty hot, wasn’t it?” You laughed as he gently tackled you against the bed.
“Maybe. But don’t think that I don’t have a thousand questions for you.” Jason nuzzled his nose into your neck.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
“But does Damian become a puppy when he transforms?”

“So... He’s a speedster?” Logan scoffed as he began to walk down the basement stairs in front of you.
“You read too many comic books, kid.” You huffed, resulting in a small patch of ice biting at the back of his neck. “Dammit!” Logan shouted, rubbing at the snow.
Hank just gave you a look.
“Who are you guys?” Once you reached the basement, you saw a silver-haired kid playing ping-pong... With himself. You were momentarily stunned by the display, watching him flit back and forth from each side of the table. But, to be perfectly candid, you were quickly distracted once you saw the giant cabinet of twinkies and ding dongs.
“Yo!” you shouted, causing Logan to sigh, “Can I have a twinkie?” As you blinked, the kid appeared at your side. His eyes were wide as he studied you, quickly looking you up and down. You momentarily jerked back at his closeness. He stared at you for less than a second before nodding,
“Sure. But don’t take any of the Lemonheads, alright?” Before you could respond, he was at the pong machine.
“Damn, he is fast,” you muttered as you pulled a twinkie package from the cabinet. You plopped down on the couch while Hank and Logan tried to convince the kid (whose name you still didn’t know) to help break Erik out of the Pentagon. Honestly, you were only along on this road trip to help Logan out, so their arguments were kinda lost on you.
But, back to the matter at hand: your twinkie.
Crossing your legs over the edge of the couch, tearing the twinkie wrapper open, and pulling it out, you began to start your process. You split the twinkie in half, ate a small chunk of the cake off, froze it, and began to lick at the newly frozen creamsicle.
Now, you were well aware that the way you ate twinkies was, to some people, sacrilegious. But in your defense, the cake-to-cream ratio of a twinkie was way off, and it was necessary to get rid of some of the cream first in order to fully enjoy the sugar stick!
Silver Hair, however, was not having this and leaped over the couch. He was draped over your legs, his hand braced on the back of the couch, and his face inches from the twinkie in your mouth. Damn, his eyelashes are long, Charles stepped toward the two of you when Logan put an arm out.
“What. On this good earth... Are you doing?” You stared up at him and continued chewing. One second. Two. You swallowed.
“Eating. Which begs the question, why are you on top of me like a freaking Chucky doll?” You moved your knee upward, but he was faster than that, unsurprisingly.
“Okay, how are you guys okay with this!? Did you not just see her defile that twinkie!?” the kid exclaimed, gesturing toward you wildly. Logan sighed and said,
“(Y/n), you can fight with him, later. Alright? Let us talk, okay?” You huffed but nodded anyway.
Not before using your powers, though...
You exhaled through your nose causing a soft stream of ice to make its way onto the floor, layering between the couch and the wall. You smirked a few moments later when the hyperactive blur ended up a groaning mess on the floor behind you.
“Maybe next time you’ll watch yourself before you insult my twinkie method,” you teased. The kid stood up and grinned at you with rejuvenated energy as you took another bite of the treat.
“Alright! I’ll come with you guys. But only if she comes, too. Because I like her,” he said as he leaped over the couch again and landed in front of your face. “I’m Peter, what’s your name?” Chewing for a few more bites without swallowing, you replied,
“(Y/n). But I think you have about two seconds to get out of my face before I spit this twinkie into your eye.” Peter’s grin widened. Meanwhile, Logan groaned and turned to leave,
“Let’s just hit the road.” You thought you might have heard his soul die a little in that sentence.
-
You estimated that Logan was about three seconds from exploding in a rage of claws and body hair. In fact, you could see the hand on the steering wheel start to extend a little bit. But for once, you really couldn’t care.
“Okay, okay, how about this one?” You blew into Peter’s palm and encrusted it in a thick coating of frost.
“Woah,” Peter whispered as he admired the intricate corners and geometry in fascination. You snorted,
“You look like you’ve never seen snow before,” Peter stuck his tongue out at you,
“Sorry, I’ve never seen a whole frozen hand before. Alright, ready?” You nodded and watched in delight as Peter used his super-speed to shake his hand so quickly that the entire sheet of ice shattered like glass.
“There’s going to be ice everywhere,” Hank muttered.
“Woah, that was like two seconds shorter than the last one!” you shouted. Peter grinned proudly and said,
“Well, I am the fastest person alive, so,” with a scoff, you replied,
“I’m sure your girlfriend would tend to agree with you.” Peter raised his arms in mock offense,
“Wow, really assuming that I’m a man-whore so quickly, huh? Is it my devilishly good looks or the gorgeous old man hair? But for your information, I am a whole bachelor. Currently looking for a bachelorette,” he said and pumped his eyebrows up. You laughed and blew frost out to coat his nose.
“Ah! Cold!” He rubbed at the ice until his nose returned to its bright red color.
“Hm, guess this bachelor’s sensitive,” you commented as you lightly pinched his nose.
“Yeah, maybe you could test that out for yourself,” Peter purred, causing you to break out into laughter as he playfully nuzzled his cold nose against your forehead.
“Hey, six inches apart back there!” Logan shouted, glaring at the two of you from the rearview mirror. Peter reluctantly moved his face from yours before quickly switching topics,
“Have you ever frozen a whole person before?” You tossed a brief look toward Logan, who didn’t make any indication to stop, before you replied,
“Y-Yeah, but it’s not the best idea, y’know? It’s only so long before hypothermia can start causing permanent damage.”
“Woah, that’s so crazy. The human body is so fragile. Good thing I warm up really fast,” Peter cooed, leaning toward you, again.
“If you’re the fastest person alive, Peter than why are you even in my car?” Logan growled out loud. Glancing toward Peter, you noticed his cheeks were the same color as his nose.
“Guess I could figure that out myself, Logie.”
-
“Dude, you gotta admit,” Peter tossed the cap onto his head with a flip, “I look pretty damn fine as a cop.” You chuckled and tugged the brim of the cap so that it covered his eyes.
“You’re supposed to be a guard, dum-dum.” Peter lifted the cap back up and grinned
“Wow, when she calls you pet names,” you rolled your eyes and retorted,
“Emphasis on ‘pet,’” Peter smirked and rested his hands behind his neck,
“I mean, if you wanna put a collar around my neck, I’d be down.” Before you could snap back, Logan said,
“If the two of you are done being teenagers, we have a mission.” Logan was about three seconds from abandoning this mission in favor of slicing Peter open and you could tell.
“Whatever, Logie. Let’s just get this over with. Place gives me the creeps.”
“Good thing you’re the Ice Queen, then,”
“Oh really? Like you-”
“Shut up!”
Make that zero seconds until he sliced Peter open.
-
Okay. So maybe the kitchen plan wasn’t flawless. But you certainly hadn’t expected it to go this poorly.
Tapping your foot impatiently as Erik and Charles kept bickering, you barely held back your own not-so-nice words when you were interrupted by eight or nine armed guards.
“Hands up! All of you!” one of the officers shouted. You inhaled slowly, ready to use your mutation at the signal. However, you glanced toward Logan and received no signal, yet, so you merely held your breath in your chest.
Hopefully you wouldn’t receive the signal at all.
You didn’t notice Peter’s eyes on you as you were clearly stressing over the choice you were about to make.
It wasn’t a second after Logan’s claws began to extend that a sharp cacophony of clangs and crashes rang through without warning. You flinched from the shock (and the feeling of a bullet flying by your face?) before coming face-to-face with Peter, his headphones covering his ears, goggles over his eyes, and an F.B.I. cap on his head.
“You okay?” he asked, tilting his head to the side like a puppy. You momentarily blinked at him in shock before taking in the room around you; all of the guards were unconscious and there was food almost everywhere in the soaking kitchen.
“Y-You did that?” you asked breathlessly, with a small smile blooming on your face. Peter shrugged and awkwardly shoved his hands into his jacket pockets.
“Maybe. Why? Were ya scared?” you were about to reply when Logan shouted from the other end of the room,
“Are you serious!? Get over here, the both of you! Now!” He shook his head and stormed out; everyone else had apparently already made their way out.
“Sheesh, can that guy even spit out a ‘Thank You?’ I did just save his life, aftera-” You interrupted his complaining by pressing a soft kiss to his cheek.
“Thanks for saving us, Pete,” you whispered next to his ear. With that, you moved past him toward the exit.
For a moment, Peter stood there, stunned. He pressed a hand against his cheek where you’d kissed him (it’d been kinda cold if he was being honest) before coming back to reality and shouting after you,

"Don’t be suspicious, don’t be suspicious-spicious,” you mentally cursed Justine out as the stupid Parks and Recreation tune ran through your ear again. Was it what you needed to do? Yes. Was it stupid? YES.
With a huff, you grabbed the tray stacked with vibrant drinks and went back out onto the casino floor. Almost immediately out of the kitchen, you were practically slapped with cigar smoke and Balenciaga cologne.
I swear, on my next mission, I’ll be on some tropical island where the atmosphere is mostly nitrogen and oxygen instead of nicotine and formaldehyde!
“Hey, sweetheart! Thank you much!” You gave a polite smile as the portly man snatched his drink off of your tray (to be honest, you weren’t even sure it was his) and gave you a disgusting once-over. With a shudder, you continued through on your route.
“Ew, that guy was nasty. I could feel him grabbing your boobs with his eyes!” You were about two seconds away from ripping the faux earring from your ear and just finishing this mission solo.
-
“It should be simple enough; get in, find a way into the head office, plant the bug, and get out.” Justine didn’t even look up from her laptop as she spoke, clearly quite confident in your abilities. But her confidence didn’t prevent you from getting irritated.
“Can’t you at least pretend to care about this mission? I mean, Penguin, might be dead. If our information is correct, then the entire Gotham underground could fall into chaos!” Justine chuckled and took a sip of your tea before replying.
“Sis, I love you, but you’re being a little dramatic. You’re just the plant! It’s not like you’re Stage 2 or anything.” You snorted and turned to her from the driver’s seat as you were facing a red light.
“And who’s fault is that?” Justine made a face as she began packing up.
“I thought you were over that. It was just a prank.”
“Yeah, a prank that ended up demoting us!” Justine chuckled, “Whatever, what we need to focus on is the new owner. Any updates from your research on him?” Justine finally put your drink back in the cupholder and picked up her phone.
“Yup; interesting dude. Jason Peter Todd, age 27. Orphaned at some point in his childhood, which resulted in him going (and escaping) from a couple foster homes for a few years. Eventually, though, he became one of the many hot adoptees of Bruce Wayne. Honestly, why does that dude only adopt the same kid every time? Like, is it a race thing? Does he want to pretend that he conceived them? Or-”
“Justine,” you cut in.
“Right, yeah. So, back in the early 2000s, a rumor went around that he’d died but apparently he was just on some soul-searching thing through the Middle East. But, because of it, he and his dad are kinda in a spat or something.” You scoffed at that,
“Honestly, he sounds pretty harmless. Just another petty rich boy who bought a club owned by a literal mobster just to get back at Daddy. Can’t blame him for being stupid. It’s not like Wayne’s exactly Einstein.” Justine shook her head and replied,
“Well, here’s the thing. He’s been almost completely off the grid for the past decade besides some family gatherings over the years. No socials, no jobs, no real estate: nothing. Now, all of a sudden he steps into the limelight to buy the Iceberg Lounge fresh out of Penguin’s stiffening hands?” She had a point. Justine may act like a stereotypical freshman from Arizona U, but she always proved herself to be beyond capable on missions.
“That is suspicious. What about the staff? I heard that he hired a whole new crew.”
“That’s another thing! You know who he’s hired recently? The Su Sisters.” That earned a two-eyebrow raise.
“Wait, what? All of them? For what? How does someone like Todd even know them? Hold on, maybe he’s just an idiot who was infiltrated before us. Were they using their actual last names?”
“Yes. It’s way too gullible of a stunt, even for a Wayne. I think he knows damn well who they are, and that he even hired them personally.”
“You’ve got a solid point. Something definitely doesn’t smell right,” you said with a sigh, finally parking the car, “Whatever. That’s tomorrow’s problem. I’m exhausted and I have to go in for work tomorrow.” Justine was already booking it into the hotel, well before you finished talking.
-
Honestly, it was difficult to remain low-key when the Iceberg had a “dress code.” The skirt of the dress was longer than most but your whole cleavage was nearly popping out of the non-existent neckline. Nearly every man and woman that you’d served today had taken a good, long look at your chest. At the moment, one of the customers in the Gotham University alpha-beta-douche group had pulled you next to him with a large arm, around your waist. Did he even order, yet!?
“Damn, this dude is on you, hard,” Justine said through the earring. Yeah, I’m well aware! you replied silently.
“Um, sir, I’m so sorry but I’m running really behind and I need to-” the blonde interrupted you by slapping his hand against your thigh. You nearly tore his whole arm off.
“Chillax, little mama! I’m sure the big ole boss won’t mind if he knows you’re serving a customer.” Fighting back the urge to gag, you tried again, knowing that Todd was on the floor and now was your time to get moving.
“W-Well, I just got this job and I really, really don’t wanna let him down, y’know? So could you please, just-” The hand that was on your thigh gripped harshly, forcing you to wince in surprise. The dude-bro growled before turning to one of his friends,
“Penguin used to know to keep around the quiet hoes, man. Now, they’re all chatty and think they’re worth somethin’.” Before you broke your cover, a heavy hand landed on the massive pig’s shoulder.
“Good evening, sir! Anything I can get you, tonight?”Crap. Jason Peter Todd was standing next to you, wedging himself in between you and the customer, who was forced to release your leg.
“Hol- Yo! It’s Todd! Get out of there!” With a curt nod, you moved to leave when the customer began shouting at you.
“Yeah, you could get your waitresses to show the costumers a little bit of respect!” Clenching your fist over the edge of your tray, you turned to give this entitled little Gothamite brat a piece of your-
“Well, I’m sure we can get all of this taken care of. Right, sweetheart?” Todd flashed you a trademark Wayne smile before leading the way toward the back end of the casino. His arm was practically wrapped around the customer as he apologized and attempted to appease the hothead.
“(Y/n), not to freak you out, but I think we missed out on the ‘lay-low’ part of this mission,” Justine said. You would try to duck out but every now and then Jason's eyes would meet yours from in front of you.
Crap. He’s definitely onto me, you thought to yourself. You were tempted to give Justine the signal (a tug on the earring), but you decided to wait it out, just in case.
Eventually, the three of you ended up in the grand hall between the casino and the lounge area, which was marked in the middle by a wide staircase.
“Alright, this is my partner, Miguel, and he’ll be escorting you to one of our more exclusive suites.” Todd handed the man off who was led toward the flight of stairs to who-knows-where. Feeling your pulse begin to race as Todd turned toward you with a familiar-looking gaze.
“Don’t worry, Miguel’s just kicking him out. We don’t need those kinds of guests here, right?” he said with a flash of his teeth.
“Yo, this dude is even finer up close,” Justine muttered into your ear. You didn’t disagree with her. With that, you decided to change up the plan.
“It’s totally fine,” you gave a wide grin and tossed your hair over your shoulder. Todd’s eyes followed. “I mean, you get used to guys like that.” You could hear Justine eating popcorn in your ear.
“Well, I’m so sorry about that,” Todd took a step closer to you, his hands still in his pockets, which wasn’t a great sign. “Is there anything I can do to make up for it?” You sucked in your cheeks with a small pucker of your lips,
“Maybe...” you blatantly allowed your eyes to travel up and down the owner’s torso, “You free tonight? My shift ends pretty soon,” you added, batting your heavy falsies and tilting your head. Todd chuckled and pulled his hands from his pockets and rubbed at the back of his neck. Perfect.
“Haha, sure. In fact, we could head up to my office right now if you wanted? Being the owner definitely comes with its perks,” Todd gave you another cheeky grin and held out his hand.
“Well, lead the way, bossman.” Taking his arm and handing your tray off to a passing (pissed off) waitress, you mentally high-fived yourself for a successful mission.
“Damn, I hope you remembered to take your birth control,”

Ironically, the furthest you got was just a (very heavy) make-out session on his couch before he put an end to it. Despite being disappointed, you had to admit, he was talented.
“Sorry, doll, but it seems like I’ve got an appointment soon,” he said, readjusting his tie and standing up.
“Boo, but we were just getting started. And I’m on the pill!” you whined, making sure to wipe at your mussed up lipstick with your thumb. Without his eyes leaving your lips, he chuckled and made his way around to the back end of the couch. Leaning back, you reached for his arm and pressed a kiss against his hand.
“I’m so sorry, sweetheart, but I’ve got a visitor. Besides, you can always come back tomorrow, right?” he whispered, leaning in and planting a kiss on your cheek. A small (very annoying) part of you squealed as you noticed his lips smudged with your lipstick. A larger part of you clung to that last sentence,
How does he know my schedule?
You bit your lip and reached up to reach your hands around his neck.
“Mm, okay. But only if I get to be on top, tomorrow,” Jason barked out a laugh and pressed another kiss against your cheek.
“Alright, I’ll remember that.” With that, you beamed up at him before standing up and walking toward the door. Jason opened the door for you, and you were greeted with the stark face of Suzie Su. Masking your shock, you grinned at her and waved,
“Sorry! Didn’t know he had an appointment! I’ll get going!” with that, you trotted out, waiting for Justine to say-
Wait.
Justine had been silent for nearly that entire ordeal. And she’s never silent. Especially during sexpionage. Without breaking your step, you continued back toward the casino, where the employee locker room was.
“(Y/n)! Can you hear me!? You hit 24! Scratch your earlobe if you can hear me!” Justine’s voice came back to you when you reached the same hall from earlier. Quickly, you scratched your earlobe, which received an audible sigh from Justine.
“Omg, you scared me! As soon as you got into that office, the line went dead.” Crap, that’s not good. “There’s some sort of blockade around that office and I lost both audio and visual.” Making your way through the lockers and out the employee exit, you tried your hardest to appear relaxed, but you could feel your heart racing. Once you were in your car you replied,
“Justine, I’m so sorry! I’m on my way back to the hotel.” Justine went silent again. “Justine?”
“(Y/n), why isn’t the bug working? The static blockade shouldn’t affect it since it functions as a landline,” Crap. Reaching into your bra, you felt around to find the bug was still attached, not turned on, and definitely not in Jason’s office.
“Ugh, guess I’m going in for work tomorrow.”
“I know you’re not complaining.”
You weren’t.
-
“Um, Candy, have you seen Jason?” Candy was one of the Su Sisters. Whether or not it was her actual name was still unknown to you.
“Mm, I think he’s up in his office? I don’t really know. Honestly, I couldn’t care less about the boss!” She flashed you a cheeky grin before grabbing another rag to wipe down the edges of the tables.
“Uh, I have to go ask him something, is that cool?” you asked her, but you were already walking through the empty casino. It was a good hour until the lounge opened and you and Candy had prepped almost everything already.
“Bro, I’m digging this empty Iceberg vibe. It’s almost like that scene in Ocean’s-” you were grateful when Justine was tuned out as you headed up toward the head office.
However, standing at the door, again, was Suzie Su.
“Um, is Jason in? I think I left my earring in there, yesterday,” you said with a sheepish smile. The woman raised an eyebrow but replied,
“No. He’s out somewhere with Miguel. He’ll be back soon, though.” Perfect.
“Um, can I just look in and get out. I’m sure I know where it is.” Suzie snorted but opened the door for you. “Thanks!”
Knowing that Suzie was still watching you, you quickly made your way toward the couch and bent over, looking through the cushions. You hummed a little bit as you did, before reaching into your bra and clicking the bug on.
“Ah! I think I found it!” you exclaimed and shoved your arm down in between the cushions, near the back of the hardwood, and plugged the minuscule plant in. “Oh, never mind.”
“Found what?” Craning your head over your shoulder, you saw Jason standing there with that familiar smirk on his face. With a lackadaisical grin on your face, you stood up and trotted over to him.
“Welcome home,” you pressed a kiss to his cheek, “Suzie let me in if that’s okay?” Jason wrapped his arms around your back and hummed,
“Of course it is, dollface. Now, what were you looking for?”
“I lost my earring yesterday, and it was really nice, and I was just retracing my steps. Did you happen to see it?” Jason shook his head,
“Nope. Do you need any help?” While the idea of seeing Jason bend over was very appealing, you had to get out soon.
“Nah, I think I’ll rummage through my locker, again. Besides, Candy’s probably waiting for me down on the floor.” You attempted to slip out of his arms before they suddenly locked around you. Despite your earpiece being blocked, you could hear Justine squeal in your head.
“Mm, I have another idea. We have about forty-five minutes until we open up,” he pressed a kiss against your lips, “How about you spend that,” he leaned in close to your ear,
“Telling me who you work for?”
Crap.

36, 37, 38
If you were being completely honest with yourself, you’d seen worse.
Suzie had knocked you out relatively efficiently and you now had a low-grade concussion. You were alone in some sort of dungeon, somewhere, tied to a chair, without any of your jewelry and you really had to pee. The counting definitely wasn’t alleviating any of the pressure on your bladder.
“Okay, little lady,” the sole door swung open, revealing,
“Red Hood?” you exclaimed, causing the vigilante to scoff.
“Hm. I wasn’t sure you’d recognize me without the bowling ball helmet.” He walked closer to you dramatically, as Hood always does,
“What are you doing here? I thought Penguin was out of commission, thanks to you.” He crossed his (enormous) arms over his chest and scoffed,
“Shouldn’t I be asking you the exact same question?”
“No, because you know exactly why I’m here,” you said with a tilt of your head, hoping it would accentuate your chest. Unfortunately, he was wearing a mask, so you couldn’t be sure if he noticed. “Why you’re here though, is a different question. Are you trying to take over Penguin’s share? Using that pretty Wayne boy as a decoy?” Hood chuckled and uncrossed his arms, resting them on his knees so that he was at your eye-level.
“What? You like Todd? I think he’s pretty, too,” his tone, despite his voice modulator distorting it, was teasing, similar to a six-year-old mocking his crush on the playground.

You pursed your lips,
“You’re not answering my question, Hoodie. Unless you want to talk about boys all night.” Hood let out a laugh and stood back up.
“As much as I’d love to do that, doll, we still got some things to work out. Starting with,” he pulled out your earring, “Why you were wearing a wire. Very cute, but honestly, too clunky to be subtle.” You continued to wear your cool facade.
“Mm, that’s what I thought, but the big mamas didn’t agree. How about next time I break into a lounge owners office, I wear one of those anti-kidnap necklaces with a GPS in the chain?” you gave him a cheeky smirk,
“Maybe, as long as it’s not the same tacky shade of magenta,” you laughed at that. Who knew Red Hood knew more shades than just purple?
“Aw, I really wish that it hadn’t been you who caught me. I could have so much fun with you,” Hood’s right fist clenched loosely,
“Same here, sweetheart.” What.
“Todd?” Hood minutely jerked back before resuming his casual demeanor,
“Really sayin’ other guys’ names around me, huh?” Oh, yes. This was gonna be good.
“Well, I don’t know, do you not know you’re own name?” you let out an almost cackle, “Oh my goodness! Jason Peter Todd, age 27, alias Red Hood!” Hood remained silent.
You sneered at that.
“What? Are you gonna kill me now, like you did Penguin? Well, sorry but if your looking to score some real estate, I only have a one-bedroom in Queens if you wanna buy that from my beneficiary.” You almost couldn’t believe this! Not that you had fallen in love with Jason or anything, but you would be lying if you said you weren’t so happy just thinking that there was one guy out there who wasn’t a greedy, murdering narcissist. Well. Maybe narcissist was never really crossed off.
Hood sighed and pulled off his masks (plural), revealing himself.
“What gave me away?” Damn, his face was still gorgeous.
“You're the only man who’s ever called me ‘sweetheart’ without me gagging up my lunch,” Jason snorted and rested his hands on his hips before leaning in real close.
“Flattering. But that doesn’t negate the fact that now we have a bit of an issue on our hands, don’t we?” you sighed and crossed your legs.
43...
“I suppose so. How about this, I give you my number, and you can hit me up when you’re done with... whatever this is.” The door swung open, and there was Justine, stun gun in hand.
Hm, 44. Guess, your estimate of when you got knocked out was more off than you thought.
“The he-”Justine shot him with her stun gun before he could finish the sentence. In a buzzing and jerking manner, Jason fell to the ground in front of you.
“Wow, I cannot believe you let yourself get caught, Mrs. Bond,” she said with a snort before coming over to release you.
“Ha, ha. Hurry up, I have to pee so badly.” Once you were free, the two of you made your way out,
“Wait, a sec, I think he’s still awake,” Justine said, holding her arm out in front of you. With a smirk, you walked back over to him, kicking him lightly at his chin.
“Hey, sweetheart. Next time, I’d recommend keeping your conversations brief. Get to the point,” you crouched down in front of him and he glared up to you, still temporarily stunned.
Damn, he was fine.
“Justine, you gotta pen on you?”
“Always. ‘Tis mightier than the sword. Unless you’re Inigo Montoya.” She tossed the pen to you, and you turned Jason’s head, exposing the length of his (thick) neck. After scribbling your civilian number on, along with a tiny heart, you pressed a small kiss to his cheek.
“Call me! I’ll be on a different assignment next time, so it shouldn’t break any rules.” Before you could stand up, however, Jason groaned.
“Maybe next time you can leave the bugs at home,” you snorted and headed toward the exit.
“Don’t flatter yourself, sweetheart. You’re not that cute.”
Can you write a Peter Maximoff x reader where she meets him during Days Future Past, and they kinda have tension between them, but after breaking Erik out of the Pentagon she kisses him and it’s all fluffy? I love your writing, it’s literally addicting. Thank you! ❤️
Sure! I have something lined up atm, but it should be out soon!
