5 Tiny Writing Tips That Aren’t Talked About Enough (but work for me)
These are some lowkey underrated tips I’ve seen floating around writing communities — the kind that don’t get flashy attention but seriously changed how I write.
1. Put “he/she/they” at the start of the sentence less often.
Try switching up your sentence rhythm. Instead of
“She walked to the window,”
try
“The window creaked open under her touch.”
Keeps it fresh and stops the paragraph from sounding like a checklist.
2. Don’t describe everything — describe what matters.
Instead of listing every detail in a room, pick 2–3 objects that say something.
“A half-drunk mug of tea and a knife on the table”
sets a way stronger tone than
“There was a wooden table, two chairs, and a shelf.”
3. Use beats instead of dialogue tags sometimes.
Instead of:
"I'm fine," she said.
Try:
"I'm fine." She wiped her hands on her skirt.
It helps shows emotion, and movement.
4. Write your first draft like no one will ever read it.
No pressure. No perfection. Just vibes. The point of draft one is to exist. Let it be messy and weird — future you will thank you for at least something to edit.
5. When stuck, ask: “What’s the most fun thing that could happen next?”
Not logical. Not realistic. FUN. It doesn’t have to stay — but chasing excitement can blast through writer’s block and give you ideas you actually want to write.
What’s a tip that unexpectedly helped with your writing? Let me know!! 🍒

Cale being aroace is one of my dearest head canons
Both of them
Like, part of why tcf is so dear to me is because of how it showcases that love is universal in all forms. It has no romance, and for me,that’s what makes the story perfect.
Its not like I don’t enjoy romance or even Cale being shipped with various people around him,god knows how many fics I've read of tcf that are just romance focused, but there’s a comfort in knowing that the story will never go in that direction.Because it doesn’t need to.
It doesn’t need romance in its life to be loved so vividly, both by me and other people. The idea of burning down the world for someone you love but will never be in love with, the thought of relationships that are clearly ’just friendships’ but showcasing that love so beautifully.Just as beautifully.
I am in love with tcf because of it.
Alberu or Choi han or any other person with Cale could get the same treatment of ships by people of the fandom. But those relationships themselves are built on what everyone reads. And in the end the reason why is because the bonds between all of them are so ridiculously precious, imagining them to be in love is not so far fetched.
And they do love each other.Dearly.Its a bond that’s ’just’ friendship but its so damn beautiful that you cant help but love every part of it.And the best part is,that its treated just as importantly as romantic love interests are in any other novels.
The cast of tcf. They found each other, broken and tattered, and reforged themselves into the family that most of them never had.
Platonic love.Thats what tcf is built on and i will forever treasure this story because of it.
Me, as a writer: *writes one sentence*
Also me, having just written dialogue or someone's pov: 😧 no, baby, why would you say that? 😭
funniest thing I've seen an ace character do in a long time: having the dictionary entry for "normal" up on the computer
TCF manhwa chapter 176
Cale no, baby, no, just no....
Cale, baby, no, you did not understand the assignment...
Alberu: *gently extends palm to escort him* oh no can you walk?
Cale: *shakes hand* 'why is asking for a handshake in the situation? What a weirdo.... Oh well'
Alberu: *improv hug to make it look natural*
Part two has come ₍˄·͈༝·͈˄₎◞ ̑̑ೃ࿔
Literally me jajaja
I'm fine with others enjoying my fics, but those things I write are for me to go back and compliment for myself
It's that feeling of having the characters feel so real and just like how I imagine them with the tropes and the dynamics that I want. How could I not re-read them?
It's litterally always like this. They all love him it's so funny.
the best thing you can do to a character make them averse to touch and absolutely starved for it
hirakagi fic recs!
…because i’ve been reading an absurd amount of fanfic lately. send help.
Was re-reading Albecale interactions for my fic and had this eye-opening thought:
It might be casual and unserious for Alberu and Cale, but if Deruth, Violan, Basen, Lily and the entire Henituse household (I would even go s far as to say the dukedom) ever heard Alberu curse at Cale, they would probably overthrow the kingdom.
NOT VICEVERSA! If the Henituse or even the dark elves heard Cale curse Alberu, they'd go, "Ah, typical Cale."
