Once again taking Ron’s lines.

The movie made no sense here. Even if Hermione knew the meaning of the insult, she would still not feel the emotional harm it intends to do considering she hadn’t really lived in the wizarding world enough to understand the same beyond a theoretical level. Also, the fact that Ron was pissed enough to explain all of this while in the middle of something as unpleasant and physically taxing as vomiting slugs, shows how bad the slur was and how protective he had grown of his friend (note that only the previous year he was questioning why anyone would want to be friends with her). By diluting this scene, they didn’t only not make sense, and belittle Ron to the comic side-kick, but you also never got to see how the Twins were protective of Hermione (the one person who would eventually be able to tell them off properly other than their Mum).

Also, as an audience we are in the same shoes as Harry and Hermione and it is the Twins’, Ron’s and Alicia’s reactions that let us know truly how degrading and demeaning the insult was. The movie just makes it seem like he called her “silly” till Ron alone tries standing up for her, until Hagrid’s hut.

This scene also says a lot about the Weaslys as a family.

Ron is 12 years old in this scene and it’s not common for such a young child to make a speech about “dirty blood and common blood” and about how Wizards would have died out by now if they hadn’t married Muggles.

fun fact: painters back then painted yellow fruits (most often lemons/other citrus fruits) to show off their skills. yellow is one of the most difficult colors to shade for with paint, so it showed off their skill in mixing colors. oftentimes, when theres a PEELED yellow fruit, the peel is way longer than it should be, too, just because the painters wanted to flex on people.

if you put the peel back on the lemon in your mind, you’ll find its way too long. this is genuinely just bc this painter in 1643 wanted to flex his painting skills
