It's really the unseen that gets you in destiel. First time you see them meet is NOT the first time. Camera panning out to leave them staring at each other in an alley. The excruciatingly long stretches of looking at Dean raking leaves, carrying the trenchcoat from car to car. Of waiting for the other to come back from the heavenly war, from captivity. Man, they had so much. So much domesticity, so much yearning, longing to be in contact, to just be with each other, to be safe. To love.

as a little baby you are happy with plain milk and just some sort of mono-coloured paste, but as you eat more and more that just doesn't cut it any more. you need more flavours, more textures, more extreme foods. that's how you can tell it's not harmless, it's frying your dopamine receptors. some sickos even eat foods that literally hurt to eat because they're so eager to chase their fix.

I went to this Northwest Passage museum once where they had the white explorers' journals on one side of the exhibit and the native people's accounts on the other side of the exhibit and the explorer journals were like "our canoe had almost sunk when we encountered some kindly Indians" and the native histories were like "we watched a bunch of strangers come down the river in the shittiest canoe you'd ever seen.
