Maha has been hospitalized due to serious complications from an infected tooth. She is particularly vulnerable to this type of infection, which almost killed her last year. Thankfully her husband has returned from Egypt, but both he and Maha are unable to work and thus cannot pay for her hospital bills. They are over $1,500 usd in debt for her treatment and Maha is about to be kicked out of the hospital.

People have real issues understanding why the absence of romance and sexual desire is such a big deal. "No one bothers you over your sexual orientation! You're basically a straight person!" No wrong. The older you get the more your life is considered a failure for failing to find a life partner and get your 2.5 kids in.
Like people make fun of middle aged women for not getting married or being divorced or "always the bridesmaid never the bride" and all like "oh she's desperate! No one wants her! Old maid!' but they become straight up hostile and upset when you tell them you never want to date.
Being unpartnered after your mid twenties is just like "oh what's wrong with you" and "don't worry you'll find your guy" "aren't you afraid of being alone" "who will take care of you" "you're running out of time to have kids" and no matter what you are or aren't people straight up don't understand that you don't want them.
People tend to forget that queer is a word that means weird, and if you step out of heteronormativity you're weird in the eyes of the heteonormative society, wether you want different relationships or no relationships at all.
The core wound of this demographic is being rejected and being relentlessly asked to stop your bullshit relative to romance and sex, and to get back in the ranks. The aroace definitely qualify.
And since being rejected is obviously a veeeeery common trauma in the queer community, and people tend to reenact unhealed patterns, it's not rare to see queer people rejecting other queer people with shit like biphobia, being picky with who "qualify" as trans, dismissing aroaces etc...
Let's put rejection somewhere on a dusty shelf for a while and see how it feels. I'm sure it's freeing.

One time when I was a kid a group of girls and I had to treat another student for hypothermia by ourselves because she had so many invisible health issues that the adults we asked for help didn't believe us. The student in question was actively hallucinating. When I finally ran for help the people I grabbed were slow as shit to respond, casually joking about how "dramatic" the person in question was.
The kid was picked up by an ambulance 30 minutes later.

A person recently released from the hospital after a car accident. They had a hole in their skull and major hearing loss. They couldn't answer the owner because they couldn't HEAR the owner.
Another time about a homeless man who got around town by kicking the ground from his wheelchair. "You know he doesn't actually need that thing, his legs work fine, it's just for pity points"- Oh, so he's not paralyzed, his wheelchair is performative? Funny story Dale, I actually know that guy, he was backed over by a truck and has chronic pain from his shattered pelvis. But sure, let's make him stand up and walk everywhere so nobody feels too bad for him and tries to help him or something.

Rising violence and harassment against intersex people in the EU
Violence: 1 in 6 (15%) were physically or sexually assaulted in the year before the survey. In the five years before the survey, the rate reached 1 in 3 (34%) which is a sharp increase from 2019 (22%) and three times higher than the rate for LGBTIQ people overall.
Harassment: 3 in 4 (74%) faced hate-motivated harassment in the year before the survey, up from 2 in 5 (42%) in 2019. It is also much higher than the rate for all LGBTIQ respondents (55%).
Discrimination: 2 in 3 (61%) felt discriminated against in the year before the survey, no change compared to 2019 (62%). Most often, they face discrimination at work (38%). Intersex people are the only LGBTIQ group which did not experience a drop in discrimination since the last survey.
Bullying: 3 in 4 (76%) suffered bullying, ridicule, teasing, insults or threats at school, up significantly from 2019 (54%).
Medical interventions: over 1 in 2 (57%) have had surgery or other medical treatment to modify their sex characteristics without their informed consent.
Conversion practices: close to 2 in 5 (39%) had to go through ‘conversion’ practices to change their sexual orientation or gender, compared with 1 in 4 among all LGBTIQ groups (25%).
Mental health: over 1 in 2 (53%) contemplated suicide the year before the survey, notably higher than the rate for all LGBTIQ groups (37%).
Homelessness: 1 in 20 (6%) had to sleep rough at least once, compared with 1% for other LGBTIQ groups and 0.2% of people in the EU generally.
