some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? And Grace being forced into the mission saved his life in the end and returned him to what he’d been longing for all along, a quiet life with friends and fog over the beach and little ones to give his love of science to.

Serious explanation here: she's teaching them the instinct of being alert around enclosure openings!
