You know what would be funny, Megatron trying to give an announcement to the decepticons but his kids get in the way. Like you expect the information about main jobs that had to be done but you just hear your leader arguing with his three children and talking about Starscream who is also their parent and the whole thing escalates. Like:
Megatron: Today's announcement will be AGNA DON'T TOUCH THAT, DARK START SABER IS NOT A TOY!
Agna( small sparkling 3y.o in human age) is shiny!
Agnos(Agna's twin brother) DAD Look what I found*holding a live scraplet*.
Megatron:PUT THAT DOWN! Ahm- where was I, So today's announcement is...
*Interrupted by a loud crash*
Megatron: YOU TWO WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT NOT TOUCHING MY SWORD!
*Gets up and picks up the twins*
Megatron: and where is your Father?
Agna:He has a day off.
Agnos: yeah and he said that if that idiot can't handle his own children that it's his problem.
Megatron*fake smiled and annoyed* Really that's what he said?
Agna: He also said he told you yesterday and he doesn't care if you are fighting Unicron and Primus himself you are taking us with you.
Agnos:CAN I CARRY YOUR SWORD!?
Megatron: STOP IT, NO ONE'S FIGHTING ANYONE!
*Whispering* Frag he was right, it is his day off.
Megatron:Agna, stop it, and Agnos put that scraplet down.

Athena: That you are just an idiot that doesn't care about his family and only reacts when kids make a problem.
Agnos: and that we only make problems so we get your attention.
Agna: and that you don't even know us.
Megatron: HE WHAT? How did you know?
Athena: Everyone knows dad, especially now since you left the broadcast on.
Megatron after realizing that the whole ship heard them and that his family drama is out: Athena you are the oldest and smartest out of three, please take your siblings away and I'll call your father to talk.
Athena: Oh No I'm not a babysitter and I have things to do! You are stuck with us dad.
Megatron exhaling: Today's announcement is simple, day off for the whole ship and don't interrupt me because I'm stuck with my kids that want their heads chopped off- ATHENA LEAVE MY SWORD ALONE!
Athena: But I wanna try some cool moves.
Megatron:Not with that.
Starscream: I'm back!
Everyone: THANK THE PRIMUS!!!

Divorced MegaStar with kids and Starscream marry Dreadwing also having kids.
So this happened before the war and Megatron had been married to Starscream and has a daughter. Eventually they realize they are not good as a pair and get divorced but stay close so that the kid doesn't have to suffer.
Meanwhile Starscream gets married to Dreadwing also before the war and Megatron was invited because both like him and they wanted someone to see their wedding. Now he has kids with Dreadwing, two daughters, and basically gets himself together with his current and ex boyfriend making them throuple. Megatron thought he was in for the kid but after a while ge realized he just wasn't marriage material and wants to be with both Starscream and Dreadwing because hey, two is better than one. Meanwhile Dreadwing is happy that he has a wonderful husband and boyfriend that make his family happy. And Starscream is over the moon because he now doesn't have to choose between his very hot gladiator ex and his very hot, calm minded military husband. Also kids love each other and see all parents equally making Optimus and others wonder how they are so calm and normal for a Soo unique family.
Bonus points if Optimus acts as a cool uncle that tells kids yes right after Megatron said no just to piss him off for all the things he put him through.
The crazy over the top Starscream who would do anything for attention and thinks dignity is a nice name for a pet and Honorable, serious Dreadwing who wants nothing but peace and quiet madly falling in love with Starscream who was ready to defend his most loyal follower from Unicron himself, let alone Megatron, and is willing to stand up when Dreadwing wants conflict and Dreadwing respecting him and feeling happy that someone is here for him (Let's just say he either doesn't know about Skyquake's death or he somehow forgave Starscream after he put his brother to Peace somehow)
Bonus points if two got kids together and it's just a big seeker family trying their best to be "normal" but being normal is hard when your parents are high ranking military personnel and one is basically a chaotic cat defending its family.
all hail starscream: why my boy’s the rightful ruler of the decepticons, and a genuine menace
okie dokie, so this is specifically referring to his prime version. i’ve been rewatching the series (for the millionth time) and every time i become more and more convinced that no, nearly everyone in the show is wrong about starscream. so i wrote an essay detailing why he’s not only the better option for the decepticons, but also detailing why the characters in the show are wrong to paint starscream as just a spineless and stupid coward.

and when i say essay, i do mean essay. it might jump around a little bit.
pre-prime leadership
in the time period before the show, starscream was single-handedly leading the decepticons for three years. three years. absolutely no megatron (that we could see). soundwave served to keep him in line, but starscream was still running shit.
and under whose leadership did the decepticons capture not one, but two autobots, managing to get optimus prime’s message from one of them? starscream. yes, it took convincing from soundwave to go to shockwave, but here we see starscream’s willingness to listen to people, something megatron doesn’t do (we’ll get back to this).
(starscream also deduced that since he had to deliver energon anyway, going to shockwave was killing two birds with one stone.)
and it wasn’t just starscream that caused the prisoners to escape. don’t forget that shockwave gets not only blinded by arcee, but stranded on a dead planet. it’s so funny later when in season three he references that. bro you were literally there too.
starscream was already an air commander before the show, so he has plenty experience leading troops.
let’s also remember that starscream had like how many energon mines? he makes sure to save some energon for himself for safe keeping. he was fighting a war of attrition — and winning.
2. his kill actually stays dead (and is actually relevant)
obviously i have to mention cliffjumper. although yes, you could argue that killing an already beat-up prisoner isn’t much of an accomplishment, but let’s not forget that starscream’s one of the only decepticons to kill an autobot in the show; with arachnid, megatron, and dreadwing being exceptions.
megatron should really have an asterisk next to his name, since bumblebee didn’t stay dead. arachnid also killed an already wounded prisoner. dreadwing is really the only kind of competent example (he blew up seaspray).
but the differences between these deaths and the death of cliffjumper is that his death has the most impact. he’s mentioned multiple times throughout the series, and his death sets the tone for what the autobots are truly facing. who strikes this fear? starscream.
seaspray is never mentioned again; the only reaction he really gets is a few second show of sympathy. you could argue that his death ignites the whole feud with dreadwing, but i’d argue that it would’ve happened regardless.
tailgate is only really relevant in arcee-focused episodes; half her episodes don’t even mention him.
bumblebee was dead for like two minutes; and he got his voice back. then he killed megatron. his death was basically a feel-good moment. way to go, mr. i’m-always-the-smartest-in-the-room. literally the funniest shit i’ve ever seen.
(no, but seriously. bee getting his voice back is one of my favorite moments in the series.)
meanwhile, starscream’s killing of cliffjumper strikes terror in the autobots. arcee says in the same episode, “we’re alone wherever we travel on this rock, cliff.” it wasn’t just his death that impacted them; it was also the fact the decepticons were still lurking around. the autobots thought they were safe. they were wrong.
also, don’t forget that starscream would’ve killed wheeljack if it wasn’t for soundwave. he could’ve offed two autobots not even halfway through season one. that’s crazy.
3. master chef
when it comes to planning, starscream’s cooking gourmet. let’s first discuss his plans outside of his solo arc (we’ll get to those later).
obviously we have skyquake. i don’t know why he was chilling in that plateau unused, but whatever, megatron. don’t use your assets. whatever.
after a beating from the aforementioned mech, starscream later uses dark energon to raise skyquake from the dead. he came up with his revenge plan almost instantly.
as soon as starscream finds out wheeljack is heading to earth, he immediately jumps into action, using makeshift to impersonate the autobot. he would’ve found their base a season before the decepticons ended up finding it. the plan didn’t fail because of starscream. literally everyone around him caused the plan to go up in flames.
also, this isn’t confirmed, but in season three, i think the reason starscream was so certain that wheeljack would escape — certain enough to put a tracking device on him — is because he did it before. starscream doesn’t underestimate wheeljack as much as the others — he underestimated him enough to think he wouldn’t find the device — because he paid for that mistake before.
the silas plan, also in season three, was also due to starscream. he told knock out only a drop or two of dark energon should be used; knock out injected a whole vial. that’s on him. knock out didn’t face much of a punishment for the zombie fiasco; starscream gets beat for the millionth time.
and let’s not forget his most devious plan: getting the autobots to destroy the predacons, with the aim to also get predaking to destroy them — or vice versa. it could be argued that this is one of the smartest moments in the whole show. it’s okay because of knock out’s big ass mouth that ratchet was able to tell predaking the truth.
megatron hardly plans. he’s not someone who acts — not like starscream does. he’s literally an npc until someone else does something, and half the time it goes like this (paraphrasing from the energon zombie episode):
“master, i’ve just made the most intriguing discovery! :D”
“nOt NoW sTaRsCrEaM! >:( continue, shockwave. no, it’s no one important.”
like girl WHAT.
megatron’s stupidest fuck-up has got to be the whole orion pax thing. for such a supposedly cunning mech, he’s really dumb sometimes. i came up with better lies to tell orion while watching the episodes. telling him starscream was dead was just…seriously?
just lie and tell orion that starscream left after trying to kill you! that’s it! that’s all you had to say, megatron!
small lies build up. if megatron lied about something as seemingly inconsequential as that, then there’s got to be more to things, right? sure, i don’t think anyone expected starscream to find the ship, but underestimating him is a common theme in this show. besides, if megatron wants to cover all his bases, it's better to, you know, lie better. ratchet being a warlord? bro wut.
also, encrypt your files better. or maybe do better at restricting his access? orion was recharging at one point; do it then. you’re telling me soundwave couldn’t figure out how to do that? he can do literally everything else.

4. starscream alone
this is a continuation of section three. halfway through season one, zuko becomes starscream’s literally me character. you’d think he’d fare terribly, but no. if anything, he performs better when allowed to spread his wings (haha).
it could be argued that megatron holds starscream back (as seen by his immediate dismissal of him when conversing with shockwave). by being the tyrant he is, he keeps starscream from doing what he does better than most on the show. notice how starscream’s best plans happen when megatron isn’t around? even the silas plan, which again, failed because of knock out, was smart.
let’s go down the list of feats:
starscream was able to find the decepticon war ship on his own (seemingly without any extra technology to do so).
not instantly killing orion pax and letting him elaborate on the situation was a smart move. if the vehicons hadn’t appeared, starscream likely would’ve gotten something out of orion in exchange for the truth, as orion’s nature wouldn’t allow starscream to leave with nothing.
megatron doesn’t barter the same way starscream does. with megatron, it’s mostly lives he barters with (bulkhead, the kids); with starscream, he expands his avenues.
megatron only teamed up with the autobots because he couldn’t let someone else rule earth who wasn’t him.
starscream allying himself with MECH wasn’t a good idea by any means, but i do see where he’s coming from. he’s all alone, running low on energon, and would be captured/killed by decepticons if they found him. wanting an army makes sense for his situation; not only for protection, but for the obvious reason of taking out megatron and any decepticon that still supports him. it’s also here that starscream almost permanently takes away bumblebee’s ability to transform.
losing his own t-cog didn’t hinder starscream as much as it would for some; if anything, it brings the best of his intelligence out of him. even though he’s working with the limited resources in the harbinger, he concocts and pulls off scheme after scheme.
with cloning being in starscream’s means, this was the next obvious step. upon talking to the clones, who by their own admission tell him they are exactly like him, starscream realizes that he miscalculated. he knew that even before he sent them up to the ship. i think part of him was hoping they would fail, just so he wouldn’t have to deal with them running around. starscream also knew that the last clone would try and kill him.
starscream takes advantage of dreadwing and optimus being distracted in order to get the apex armor. they were forced to work together to subdue him, and only succeeded in sending bro to the bottom of the ocean, which does absolutely nothing to deter him.
even after starscream loses the armor, does he let that stop him? of course not. he secures red energon, and becomes the only reason the decepticons are able to get all the omega keys. the whole plan with the dead clone was genius. starscream’s also the one that helps knock out figure out how the keys work.
5. starscream isn’t cuckoo for cocoa puffs
here we are. the meat and potatoes. this section won’t just discuss the differences in megatron and starscream’s psyches, but differences in operation.
after starscream absorbed the dark energon shard, he viewed himself as invincible; Optimus shooting off his arm showed him he was not. after he returns to the nemesis, starscream takes the shard from his chest and looks down at it with an uncomfortable and disgusted expression; he never goes on to inject himself with dark energon again.
the fact starscream is willing to yell at megatron not to do something is proof of how seriously he took the threat of dark energon. because yeah, maybe injecting yourself with the blood of the cyber-eldritch embodiment of pure evil isn’t exactly a good idea. imagine that. but apparently megatron can’t imagine it.
now we gotta talk about earth. lemme ask the obvious question: why didn’t the decepticons just, i don’t know, take over cybertron? it’s abandoned. there’s no way for the autobots to even get back there!
but no! no! megatron just has to cross the fucking universe in order to chase after his ex-boyfriend! besides the energon, that’s the only reason the decepticons are on earth!
starscream’s enraged when optimus destroys the omega lock. but megatron? he laughs because he knows where the autobot base is. not sure that’s the first thing you should be thinking about.
megatron didn’t care about restoring cybertron for the sake of it — he wants to rule. if he can’t do that, then fuck cybertron. this mentality was evident when he said, “why rule over one world, when i can rule two?”
you did not have to raise that zombie army! you did not have to create an emo star saber! you did not have to cut off a prime’s arm AS WELL AS YOUR OWN and switch them out with each other! you did not have to do ANYTHING except go back and conquer cybertron! there is NO ONE THERE. THE WAR IS OVER. but nooooo, he’s gotta be all obsessed with optimus. like bro he’s LITERALLY the original yandere.
“nO oNe KiLlS oPtImUs BuT mE!”
starscream tried. what happened? megatron beat the shit outta him. my boy didn’t even DO anything but try and make his life easier.
it’s because of this treatment that starscream is completely reasonable to beg megatron for mercy, or when he sucks up to him. megatron is a former gladiator, who routinely beats him — who could kill him at any moment.
although starscream doesn’t feel bad for committing violence — and is shown to revel in it from time to time — he’s nowhere near the level of megatron, who’s simply in it for the love of the game. starscream will and can fight; despite this, he still isn’t physically imposing.
unlike megatron, starscream knows how to be chill with the autobots.his inability to beat someone the way megatron beats him requires starscream to use mind over matter. starscream has to rely on his wits.
it was only because of starscream that the autobots found the space bridge. in exchange for ratchet treating him, of course. starscream later brings his cooperation up after he contacts the autobots a second time. trying to get them to go after arachnid, even for selfish gain, just…made sense? if you’re happy and enjoying your life, arachnid will take that personally and try to put a stop to it.
back to the violence. starscream isn’t typically someone whose first resort is brutality. when starscream snuck onto the nemesis, he hesitated killing those two vehicon soldiers — even though he did it without any effort.
this sort of restraint is partially why he’s able to be so chill with the autobots at times. if starscream truly hated optimus prime like megatron did, he would’ve just launched those missiles right at his spark; instead, he hears orion out and eventually stops pointing the missiles at him. for the rest of the conversation, starscream goes along with orion’s amnesia, and is no longer hostile with him.
he spared arcee when he easily could’ve added another one of them to his kill count. starscream had absolutely no reason to even the score, but he did. megatron wouldn’t have been so generous.
starscream’s clone also doesn’t immediately attack bulkhead when he encounters him on the ship. he was completely ready to let the autobot go, because the only person he was there to kill was megatron. sure, he would’ve left bulkhead to figure things out by himself, but that’s better than, i don’t know, blowing his head off with a missile?
i will acknowledge that starscream was trying to be stealthy, but if anything, that only shows difference in restraint. megatron wouldn’t have given a fuck about alerting others, because his ego and love of violence outweighs rationale.
(i do think this also applies to the vehicon situation.)
after megaton wakes up from his coma, what’s the first thing he does? he orders the death of the autobots.
there are a few times starscream indulges in megatron-like violence, such as when he used the harvester on a vehicon. he did it to intimidate knock out and breakdown, so there was strategic purpose.
speaking of breakdown, starscream not only wanted to rescue him, but he covered for him by not telling megatron the truth about bulkhead coming to the rescue. although he ordered breakdown to destroy the autobot, starscream was clearly paranoid about a potential change of heart; this was a way for his contemporary to prove his loyalty.
megatron is fully self-aware of how diabolical he is. when talking to soundwave about orion, he says that his innate sense of right and wrong will eventually kick in. megatron knows that he himself is “the wrong.” he just doesn’t care.

Now for my counter argument,
I always feel like such a devils advocate when talking about Megatron and Starscream's highs and lows because I love them both.
I think a dynamic we don't talk about enough is how these two both compliment and yet are opposites to one another.
Starscream as this post and even the video illustrates wonderfully is that he's smart and very adaptive to not only his surroundings but in regards to his enemies! He would be what most considered "educated".

Listen, I get it. I've made my fair share of jokes myself BUT I can't skirt over this.
Megatron isn't just simply crazy, he's DRIVEN. I know this is a very not so positive personality trait many people do not like. BUT it's a character trait nonetheless. Megatron is by all means a self taught mech, not by choice but by NECESSITY.
Which I feel is very important to note.
Megatron as a character even going back to his Origin and all the way to the show, surrounded by imagery and even literature of folklore. Now, I know what you're thinking but PRIMES ARE REAL, everyone knows that.
This universe has one of the most popular Autobots and best friend to Optimus PRIME. Act as an agnostic, brother. He didn't even think Unicron existed much less the BLOOD OF UNICRON could be found. Even Starscream himself says "LEGENDS TELL..."
Megatron even says "Ancient texts refer to..." these substances have no official name to it and we need to credit this man for finding this shit. I'm so serious, I know we all think Dark energon sucks and it just makes you crazy but like HE JUST PROVED A LEGEND WAS REAL.
And he's gonna do this AGAIN. Mostly because he wants to and that's creative as hell, like idk maybe I just adore out there concepts like a zombie army but no SCIENTIST WOULD THINK TO DO THAT! Some dude hyped up on the books he was reading def would!!
That's SICK AS HELL! And it sucks we don't even know how he came upon finding this, maybe the ANCIENT TEXTS had hints but that in itself is also really smart to piece together, a mystery of the ages to find something as lost to time as Unicron's blood.
And this is why I love Megatron and Starscream, there two very different sides of creativity to me, one that's more grounded and also ambitious to a point while the other is more fantastical and faith based.
Like Megatron has solidified beliefs; he believes in the Primes, he believes in the battles they have fought eons before he was born. That is apart of his character!

I disagree with this for two reasons
- Megatron getting the dark energon was obviously apart of getting the planet back, is it a good reason? No but he was TRYING

Anybody would want the goldmine of Earth especially Megatron and even Starscream would if he had the chance because it HAS ENERGON and the body of a GOD they can keep!

i did mention the energon mines in part one, but i completely glazed over the whole ruling unicron (and primus) thing. like that should’ve been something i put in there???
i agree that megatron is definitely driven, but i would say he’s driven to the point of insanity. he’s also quite rigid, which causes starscream to have an edge over him, as he’s very adaptable.
but you are completely right about megatron being a nerd lol. it helps make a great dichotomy between him and screamer. due to Megatron’s devout belief in the supernatural (is that the right word?) aspects of cybertron, he already has a point of reference, and therefore crafted his entire mission around said references. so when something doesn’t go his way, it fucks with him.
meanwhile, starscream only learned what dark energon did like, a week or two before he performed his necromancy on skyquake. his ability to incorporate new information into spontaneous plans allows for more flexibility, but if it goes wrong…welp. Back to the drawing board. And he usually faces harsh consequences before going back to said board, because he lacks the sorta relentless drive megatron has.
i will say that through their usages of dark energon, one of the main differences between the two is spotlighted. when starscream is told the details of dark energon, he’s immediately cautious, referring to it as the “anti-spark.” when megatron says he can hear unicron’s thoughts, starscream rightfully freaks out a little.
ignoring his ambitions, now he has a legit reason to want to get rid of megatron. i’d be terrified bro 😭
(this part isn’t relevant, but it’s also funny because soundwave’s so whipped that he basically tells starscream to stfu about it.)
unicron didn’t rise until the end of season one; as starscream left the decepticons halfway through the season, he wasn’t around for the whole fiasco. he was only away of the ability for dark energon to resurrect the dead.
after skyquake, starscream only uses dark energon once more in the series, and that’s when he concocted the silas plan. i’m sure someone told him about unicron, so starscream shouldn’t have been ignorant to previous events.
however, starscream isn’t the one who aims to control silas; the plan is to provide supercharged-undead warriors for megatron to control. by then, starscream likely deduced that there was no point in trying to convince megatron NOT to use the dark energon, so he might as well indulge him, as starscream was actively trying to gain megatron’s favor at the time.
one of starscream’s biggest weaknesses is his need for validation, which is why he was willing to take such a risk. this is an example of what happens when he lets his insecurities drag him down. but even when taking this kind of risk with dark energon, he’s aware of the need for being careful with it.
starscream tells knock out to use only a drop of two, showing that he’s still fully aware of the dangers…but then the good doctor goes and just injects a whole bot’s worth of dark energon in silas? like bro WHAT are you doing?
(this is more a criticism of the writers’ inconsistency, because seriously, why would they write it like that unless they clearly wanted to make the pair out to be stupid?)
(also, i do think i changed my mind a little bit about the silas plan being smart, because i’m basically headcannoning that it would’ve worked if they simply used less dark energon, and don’t really have evidence to prove my claim. but i hope i was able to provide a substantial argument as to why starscream’s usage of dark energon in this particular instance was different than how megatron continues to use it.)
meanwhile, megatron continues to house that dark energon shard in his chest — even after the whole unicron arc. he’s egotistical enough to think he’d ever be relevant to the chaos bringer; not to mention crazy enough to wanna work with him. megatron only fought against unicron because he couldn’t let someone besides himself rule earth. it wasn’t for anyone’s gain but his.
it’s an objective claim that the energon on earth makes the planet an invaluable resource, and should therefore be preserved. if i were a decepticon, i’d have this mentality; however, i highly doubt megatron was even considering this, as it isn’t in his nature to think of others before himself and his ambitions.
megatron continues utilizing dark energon even after unicron. later, he tries using dark energon to control the nemesis, which backfired so bad that three teenagers (aligned with the autobots, no less) had to risk their lives navigating a possessed war ship to save the lives in a whole city — not to mention the decepticons themselves.
the dark star saber was made from dark energon. megatron had his arm surgically replaced with the arm of a dead prime, just so he could use the forge to create a sword to compete with optimus’ star saber. which is so crazy that it’s funny. bro is OBSESSED with that mech.
but considering optimus has an unironic “i can fix him” mentality, it balances out. they’re both crazy for each other.

It kinda makes me feel like Megatron see's himself in Starscream. (Unintentionally) There both characters desperate for attention and proving their worth. In very different ways.
I wanted to type more actually especially about the Prime arm but I thought I was going into HC territory too much but I think I will add it here because again I totally think we're underestimating how incredible that is, he knows A LEGITMATE Prime's grave. That's not shit some regular JOE would know, like where the fuck did this nigga figure out "I can just get his arm and use GOD LIKE TOOLS" That's like taking Wukong's arm and using his staff!

I'd use Mythology instead of supernatural since well, these are legends, gods of their world that have effected the long term aspects of their species since Primus, Unicron and the 13 represent different types of Cybertronians. Like the greek gods. That's my opinion.
I went off topic omg, BASICALLY what I'm saying is, I don't disagree with the fact he's driven to insanity but we also need to realize, the dark energon is apart of that solely because it's making him hyperaware of another existence much the same as Matrix does for Optimus. The series goes out of its way to make these weird parallels between it. Cause you know the matrix is from PRIMUS.
And it's LINKED directly to others subconscious, just look at how Optimus connects to Alpha Trion that ONE TIME. It's eerily similar to when Megatron FEELS all of Unicron but bigger cause WELL HE'S HUGE. Big Dude. The 13 are regular sized compared to this devil.
So, I sometimes wonder if that insanity is mostly caused by that and Megatron very clearly as I stated earlier, HE WANTS UNICRON TO USE HIM. That's what he wants. He THINKS, that'll net him what he wants just like how Starscream thinks he'll be happy once Megatron is dead.
Seriously go rewatch that scene of Unicron and Megatron talking near the volcano, its like Megatron is acting out his inner Starscream, ITS SO WEIRD and yet in character because let's be real here:

Megatron may be selfish but he's not stupid. He knows he NEEDS people alive for his goals, he needs Cybertron, he needs something that can HOLD CYBERTRONIAN LIFE. Like we can talk about how WRONG IT IS but you can see his actions are directly linked to Cybertron being alive. He can't do anything without that connection.
Because he also holds onto it with his alt mode. A Cybertronian alt mode. That in itself is saying alot for him. He's a Cybertronian first and FOREMOST. He said fuck that robot in disguise mess. That's largely why I do think even for selfish reasons, he was doing it to get Cybertron back. Which again makes him interesting. His ambitions link to saving that dead planet so he can have the big seat on top with maybe Unicron at his side UwU (It's not happening bro, let it go)
I ACTUALLY LOVE HOW YOU HIGHLIGHT how Starcream reacts to Dark energon, I love how the cons are shown to like not be cool with it, even Airachnid says something against it to Megatron in that season finale. Or the ep before it I think? YOU KNOW THE ONE, "It's weakening the troops" (Minus Soundwave as you said, that's TRUE)
But Megatron is the epitome of "Okay but I'm built different" He's not THINKING LIKE STARSCREAM. He will NOT think like Starscream cause he's just that dude. And that's another large reason why I would pick Starscream over him to lead, I love you megs but you need to be somewhere else on the ship.
But also, I love his fuckups he's so unintentionally funny JUST LIKE STARSCREAM. Like it makes him shockingly enough feel so human, like this larger than life robot makes mistakes, he accidently threw a car off a ship and watched him fall. Got his own ship to come alive cause he's a hoarder. He's so devote in what he believes him, he'll die over it like some zealot til it feels like "wait this isn't actually benefitting me..." And then his selfishness comes back like a crashing wave.
I see why Optimus thinks he can fix him, he just a weird guy with alot of issues once you peel back the dramatics. Put him in the library or something to chill out.
Idk how I feel about the Silas part tbh because how do I explain this properly; even a small amount would have been too much imo. Which directly connects to what I said earlier about it being like a liquid matrix of evil. We need to stop using it altogether. Unicron doesn't need more roommates when he wakes up again. That's my opinion.
BUT I agree the writers were very inconsistent with many things in the series, as I've illustrated with my rant about Megatron's really weird mythological field trips. Imma just say HOW THE HELL ISN'T MEGATRON CONNECTED IN ANYWAY TO A PRIME WITH ALL THE PRIME ONLY STUFF HE WAS USING, stop it! i DON'T LIKE THAT IMPLICATION even though it'd be funny if we had Megatron Prime.
But also necromancy Primacy is WEIRD. Especially, after Orion Pax arc omg. I could talk about that all day.

As you can tell I've thought about it since I watched the show live on TV for a long time, I get it he's a brony but he's also like in canon a mythology nerd who keeps touching stuff he SHOULD NOT AND USING IT.
I know Alpha Trion is rolling in his grave every time he does it 😂 Starscream just has to LIVE through it.
One thing I had to add is parallel between Megatron and Starscream respecting each other.
Now transformers Prime has books called exodus and exile and in the books we see Starscream in his natural environment.
In the books he was also the bodyguard of Alpha Trion, and was way more cocky and is sometimes willing to not take orders from Megatron. And Megatron had a dose of respect for him and Wes actually depending on his support in the early stages of a war. And Starscream was respectful towards Megatron because he actually did something about the cast system.
(one of the biggest things about Starscream Is that he didn't care for the lives cast system took but how it affected Cybertron and planet's health)
In the show both lost respect for each other because Megatron went crazy over the dark energon and Starscream went from cocky and scary commander he once was to a basically traumatic wet cat. They both wanted the same goal but the only difference is that Starscream stayed somewhat True to himself by wanting to revive Cybertron and not caring about the cost it takes and Megatron who went from wanting to save his planet to a power hungry monster
You know, sometimes speaking two languages is a very, very bad thing because I have two different personalities living inside me, tearing each other apart yet still understanding one another.
One is showing real pain, the other wants to hide it, one speaks truth while the other is covering it with small lies. But the most painful thing Is that the one who is speaking the truth is unable to tell the others what's happening because the language is not understandable for them. One is allowed to cry while the other hides it. One wants to jump and run, the other wants to stay. Being torn apart by the truth you can say out loud yet not be heard due to the language barrier is both a prison that tortured me and a wall that saved me.
But both of them share one body, one mouth and teeth, one tongue that bends the sound so others can understand. Sharing your body with the two version of yourself is something I wish I didn't have to experience. All because one language gave me freedom to yell while the other tried to turn my screaming into song.
When English lets me say "I wish I could jump and break my neck" Serbian said ,,To nije pristojno, ućuti". When English lets me be alone Serbian is pushing me in crowds. But the most important part, when Serbian is quiet, English is yelling.
If I had to choose between these two, I wish I could stay mute just so I don't feel pity knowing that I betrayed one for the other because at the end of the day my soul feels so divided that it cannot be understood as one.
