Recently managed to activate the most amazing infodump trap card.
I was driving through Vermont with a friend, and we pulled over at a tiny shop offering Maple Items. We were on the state highway, not the interstate, so "pulling over" meant "squeezing my tiny car into a parking bay the size of a broad highway shoulder."
As we got out of the car, an older woman emerged from behind the building where she had been pruning her roses. She introduced herself as Tammy.
Her shop offered the promised variety of Maple, but also a number of small antiques and a plethora of dog figurines, plaques, and clearly-hand-stitched garden flags.
A huge purple ribbon hung on the wall behind the register, along with many pictures of small dogs. This was no county fair ribbon. It was the size of my torso. The material had the soft sheen of actual silk.
As I placed my purchases on the counter, I asked, "Do you... Breed dogs?"
Yes. She does. She has bred Yorkies for the last 40 years. Her mother bred Yorkies before her. The purple ribbon was from her national championship winning Yorkie.
You may be expecting that the infodump was going to be about Yorkies.
It was not.
It was about 40 years of drama in the Yorkie breeding community. Where – you must understand – the judging at shows is often about who you're in with, not about the dogs. This is especially true when Tammy's opponents win anything.
And Tammy's mother! Well. Phyllis has been on the Yorkie scene since Yorkies were invented. Because of this, many women of equally venerable age hold deep grudges against Phyllis. The sort of grudges that result in episodes of Midsommar Murders.
This led to deep injustices against Phyllis on the part of judges and prevented her dogs from winning so often she retired from the scene. Judging is all about who you're friends with, after all.
After 20 years in hiding, Phyllis – the One True Queen of Yorkie Breeding – hatched a plot. She may have been out of the show circuit, but she was still breeding dogs. She entered an absolutely perfect bitch in the national competition, but sent her with a handler rather than go in person.
None of the usurpers knew who this dog belonged to, and in dog-breeding circles this Does Not Happen. This could have resulted in further injustices, but Phyllis was crafty. She knew this tournament was being judged by a man from the UK, who knew naught of the drama in the US Yorkie Empire.
With these advantages – and being the best dog there – Phyllis's bitch won the highest honor at the show.
Incensed by this insult to their ill-gotten supremacy, the other owners descended on the handler after the show, demanding to know for whom he was working.
"Phyllis," said he.
The name of the overthrown queen evoked horror in the usurpers.
"PHYLLIS!? She's still ALIVE!???"
Yes, Phyllis yet lived, and this bitch – the dog, not the woman – went on to mother Tammy's current dogs. One of whom, Lucy-Fur, is the reincarnation of Tammy's sister (also Lucy). This is certain for two reasons.
Firstly, Sister Lucy absolutely went straight to Hell upon her death, and Lucy-Fur the dog is positively as evil as Sister Lucy was.
Secondly, Sister Lucy always said when she died she wanted to come back as one of Phyllis's dogs because "mom treated the dogs better than us."
I love you, vintage gay Pikachu. You’ll find the boy for you, I promise.
My mental health has been pretty bad lately, luckily my guiding light, drawfee, will always be there for me :)
So I've noticed a subtle pattern, and I want to say this because I'm sure people don't intend to be antiblack when they do this, but it is:
Stop telling us that you didn't put effort into your art/creations of Black people
"oh it's just a bad sketch I did to the side" "oh I just didn't feel like drawing his hair this time" "oh I just didn't feel like doing her skin well"
Okay well if you didn't feel like putting effort into your depiction, why are you showing it to us? Why are you TELLING us that you didn't care enough to be thoughtful this go round, while expecting us to still applaud you for your work? Especially if you and I know you're capable? It's insulting.
If you didn't want to draw me, you didn't have to. But you don't have to make it seem like it's excessively difficult, especially if you don't say this about anyone else you draw.
Black viewers of your work deserve to know you cared. I'm not saying every piece has to be the Mona Lisa. But if your character is supposed to have deep skin or curly hair, and you just... Decide that's too hard to do sometimes... Why should I settle for your half effort? Just don't share it 😅 wait until you do care 😅 take your time until it's done 😅
literally anything other than saying "yeah I didn't feel like depicting you so take this instead please" yeah I won't be accepting that, no thank you.
And stay safe everyone!
dude, this is really scary, and liminal as well. It's like the bathrooms
Hey!
From time-to-time, I hear non-binary positivity breach the topics of going on HRT, as well as top surgery (usually for transmascs, but I will get into this separately)...
But almost never bottom surgery.
So I am here to say this:
If you presently have a penis and to ANY degree would be happier without it, this doesn't automatically mean you must be a woman. You don't have to be a binary woman to be valid in wanting to have a vagina. Vaginoplasty and/or orchiectomy aren't just for binary women.
If you presently have a vagina and to ANY degree would be happier without it, this doesn't automatically mean you must be a man. You don't have to be a binary man to be valid in wanting to have a penis. Metoidioplasty AND phalloplasty aren't just for binary men.
Being non-binary doesn't mean you have to "make peace" with your natal parts, you are allowed to transition your body in whichever way validates you the most.
Your body is yours, and only you get to live with your body for all your life.
I also think that the strength gap is at least partially manufactured women would in fact be stronger overall if little girls were encouraged to do physically taxing games and activities and eat their fill while they’re growing vs having to constantly diet and be sedentary indoors (or god forbid do intense cardio while under-eating). The amount of adult women honestly afraid to lift weights bc they think they’ll get bulky as though bulking isn’t a full time job that athletes have to spend all their time on and anyone on earth gets shredded from just using their adult muscles for their intended purpose, girl your bone density 🥀
if you say women are intentionally nerfed from birth in 2026 people look at you like you’re insane and start condescendingly telling you about how women are just better at different things (but not during their periods haha) but this was a completely basic feminist talking point I grew up with like “girls can do it too! [shot of little girls climbing and running with boys]” nickelodeon commercial tier base level I hate it how is everyone suddenly dumber than the average 7 year old
sometimes people experiencing psychosis and/or mania will come up to you on the street and talk in confusing or upsetting ways. your job is to either have a regular human-to-human conversation with that person or politely leave. your job is not to call 911. do not call 911. you might kill that person if you call 911.
I don't even have the energy to screenshot and respond to your tags- what the actual fuck is wrong with you? "the cops are scared and rightfully so" "mental health calls are the scariest for cops" OH so this isn't about the safety of psychotic & manic people this is about piggy feelings?
and no, actually, this is not USA specific and no, actually, people from other countries should not ignore this post. police violence and sanism weren't invented in the US and they are certainly not unique to here. if you (or anyone) thinks that this bullshit doesn't happen elsewhere then you are not listening.
cops r Some Guy with a Gun
do we want Some Guy with a Gun in this situation? answer is usually "NO"
This is legitimately useful reframing. A while ago I started replacing the word "cop" in my vocabulary with "a man with a gun." It really puts things into perspective.
This homeless person is making me uncomfortable. Should I call [a man with a gun]?
My neighbor is having a loud party. Should I get [a man with a gun] involved?
There are some teenagers skateboarding. Do you think [a man with a gun] would get rid of them for me?
It makes it very clear what you're saying. I can call a man with a gun to threaten or hurt someone mildly inconveniencing me. You're not calling the cops, you're calling A MAN WITH A GUN into a situation that does not warrant a firearm handled by a volatile lunatic who will not be held accountable for his actions.

sorry, but you were socialized christian. I just can't trust you in a trans space
they literally taught you that trans people were subhuman and that you were better than them. I don't know if you can be trusted around other trans people
they scapegoated and abused you for showing signs of transness? uh... no? christianity is the most privileged religion there is. stop whining
gotta say I was not expecting people to go to bat for my strawman
me: "lol wouldn't it be crazy if trans communities treated ex-christian trans people who survived religious abuse the same way they treat trans women who they call 'male socialized'"
some of you, for some reason: "wait hold on that's a great idea"
lotta people on this post going "ok well male socialization is fake and gay but christian socialization is Real and we should discriminate based on it" and I just think it's interesting how badly some people want to exclude others from queer community based on background
a lot of you clearly still believe socialization is an immutably tainting force, and you wanna be able to punish people for things you imagine they'll do because of it. can you at least wait for our hypothetical traumatized ex-christian to do something worthy of the punishment you're eager to inflict? can we wait for them to express a harmful belief instead of assuming they hold them? no? we just gotta bar them entirely? ok
I actually don't believe you're normal to trans women if you believe there's such a thing as being eternally tainted by one's upbringing
I was thinking of a pride art challenge people could do with their OCs, because I thought it'd be cute! A queer/trans artist with their creations.
but then I realised that same challenge would be infinitely more funny with folks who have atypical or horror OCs
I went to an interfaith training recently.
In related news, I found out that I am willing to tackle two rabbis, a priest, a pastor, and a Hindu leader to win in musical chairs.
#choosing to believe you decided that imams were out of your league To answer this tag, the priest actually got the imam out in the first round.
Very generally speaking, when you see a black man in a piece of media, be it tv show, movie, video game, etc. there’s something you often see a lot of writers do. To go against the stereotype of black men (and black people in general) being dumb and lazy, you’ll see this black male character being smart and an achiever.
The Black Nerd. A common character type, the nerd will always be very interested in all things nerdy: science, video games, mathematics, etc. In an continued effort to combat stereotypes, the Black Nerd will be lack athleticism, probably being asthmatic (the nerdiest of conditions). The Black Nerd will dress smartly, suspenders and bow ties. They’ll always talk smart too, using proper English with complex words.
Now, I don’t have a problem with a black character being a nerd, indeed black people are a people; we aren’t all the same and we all have varying personalities. The problem I have is that too often we see a distinct disconnect between Blackness and the Black Nerd. The Black Nerd doesn’t listen to hip hop or rap, only classical music. The Black Nerd only has white friends, the only other black characters are into not nerdy stuff. The Black Nerd never ever uses AAVE at any time in any context.
And again I must say that Black people, not being a monolith, there are no hard fast rules to being Black. I’m more than sure there are Black people like what I’ve described above, I’m not saying it’s impossible; what I’m getting at is that the only Black Nerd we see. There are Black Nerds that play basketball, that bump Kendrick Lamar, and use AAVE since it’s an ever changing dialect. I’m just saying there’s no one way of being a nerd and no one way of being Black.
Well @dumbey, seems we’re in similar boats
This ain’t about him, this is about Black/Asian solidarity. Focus.
one of the funniest conversations I ever had with my ex was when they were still getting used to Celsius and asked me "what's 20 degrees?" and instead of converting it, I said "it's the highest your dad will ever let you set the thermostat and when you say you're cold he tells you to put on another sweater, we're not made of money" and they went "oh, 68"
the fact that this reference was that fucking precise was something they went on to tell people about for years.
last night i did a drawing of a game state in hangman. i wasn’t playing hangman, i was just drawing a moment in the game, like a still life. my friend tried to guess a letter & i had to tell her, no, we’re not playing it, it’s just a drawing of hangman, you’re losing the distinction between reality & fiction
yall dont even know how to play hangman
screaaaammm somebody just called me a bootlicker for being annoyed that my coworker is so bad at her job thats its making everyone elses jobs way fucking harder i can never ever ever ever turn anon off
Majority of this website will go to warrrr for coworkers that make everyone’s life miserable bc they’re the coworker who makes everyone’s life miserable
one of the best things about commie utopia would be that your incompetent coworker could be fired without ruining their life...I spent like 6 extra months with a coworker who fucked everything up constantly because our boss didn't want him to lose his visa and in an ideal world you could be just kind of bad at things without that being grounds for deportation y'know
One argument about UBI I like to make to people is to think of the most unbearable coworker they've ever had, or the worst customer experience they've ever had, and consider whether the world wouldn't actually be a better place if some people simply did not work
