The 27 Club got it’s name and reputation during the early 1970’s when it was realised that Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison all died at the age of 27 and in relatively quick succession, since then their ranks have been boosted by other musicians including such famous names as Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse.
