Author Events, The Fuck Do I Do?
Alright, listen up.
I survived my second ever event as an author and I have some take aways from it. Does this make me an expert?
Fuck nah.
Do I have some ideas on how to survive on now?
Yep.
So first off, EAT. Bring snacks and bring a water bottle. You gotta stay hydrated and you gotta stay energized
Secondly, multiple ways of taking payment. Make sure you can take card through a card reader, QR, or cash. On top of that, you gotta keep yourself financially educated on how to handle transactions
Third, freebies be handy. Whether character art, bookmarks, or business cards, these come in great with sales. Business cards are great for making connections
Don’t break your back and get yourself a tote with wheels. Manhandling a tote is only gonna hurt your back
And lastly, simple is always good. You’re selling a product and you want that front and center. Keep your prices visible and don’t show all your books. People will try to buy more if they think there’s not much left
