Now that more people know who squirrel girl is, I think nows a good time to share one of my favorite comic panels
one major issue I have with the current cap run is that he is constantly getting praised and called “the best of us” and treated like he’s perfect and it does not work at all when he is supposed to be the main character. Like this is HIS book, he should be the protagonist who is allowed to grow and change instead of a perfect symbol for other people. It doesn’t allow him to have any kind of interiority or internal conflict

this whole time i thought charles's paraplegia was a result of the war bc i knew he was in a war at some point before creating the og 5 and i assumed the injury came from that, then today i look it up and i was right he was in the korean war but that didn't cause his injury, which makes sense no problem there, but then i find out the real reason is that an alien invading earth dropped a stone block on his legs. okay. my fault for not knowing that. my fault for not thinking of aliens when thinking of the x-men.
civil war era comics are like
Tony stark: please I don’t want to fight I just want to figure out a solution that keeps everyone safe!
everyone else: kill yourself!
Tony: okay I will but that was not helpful
also the civil war is so fun for me once I stop thinking about the actual argument (since my friend pointed out that it’s an impossible debate to have in universe since it fundamentally breaks the suspension of disbelief that makes all super hero comics) and just think of it as a source for interpersonal drama. And then it becomes nothing more than Tony making morally dubious decisions for what he thinks is the greater good and Steve insisting he’s making morally correct decisions while also projecting his daddy issues onto Tony stark. Incredible delicious conflict
