straigt up one marvle they are smaller and less harmful than a bowler ball.
I think it's actually essential to children's moral development to be exposed to short stories moderately beyond their reading level where a bunch of fucked up shit happens and then instead of offering a moral lesson or any sort of emotional or narrative resolution it just ends.
(Ideally these stories should be presented in the form of poorly curated anthologies with the most generic titles imaginable, thereby rendering their contents impossible to identify or find later in life and leaving the affected individual wondering whether they dreamed the whole thing.)
Shoutout to Paul Jennings and whatever he had going on. I still remember the Box Kite Flyer randomly and go... huh? the fuck?

Aaaaa new Zelda, and she's the protagonist!!!
Happy Valentines Day!
Yoooooooooo Gang of Youths reference!!!!
By existing as a citizen in and paying taxes to the imperial core, we automatically hold complicity in imperialist oppression because we are literally footing the bill for it. That is just the basic nature of being born to privilege in systems of oppression in general. We can be disadvantaged and marginalized in every single other consideration and we still have to understand and cope with this, and ensure we leverage it as effectively as possible.
Voting abstinence/sabotage does not absolve us of our responsibility to do everything in our power to lessen harm, but it DOES show that when our personal morals aren't satisfied, we retreat into (imperialist, this time) privilege to 'wash our hands' of the situation and declare it's not our fault and it's not our problem.
Someone is going to win. Trump or Biden, and thanks to FPTP voting it has to be one of them. I need to make it abundantly clear that Biden is also a terrible human being and president, but literally the only alternative is a man who has stated he wants gaza to become a parking lot; who has expressed support for bills banning gender-affirming care, gay marriage, and no-fault divorce; who has openly admitted that he would feed NATO to Russia at the first opportunity.
This is something pseudo-liberals seem to forget. Yes, Biden is bad. There's a long list of things I could complain about with him, but you have to come from a place of extreme privilege, or extreme naivete to genuinely think the alternative is better.
i’m so over 2013 and it hasn’t even started yet
There's a lot of things from the early days of the internet that have aged... poorly to say the least, whether due to a change in society or in internet humour. But I have to give massive props to Epic Rap Battles of History for STILL pushing out really solid battles over the past 13 years.
Like don't get me wrong, not all of them are bangers, but there's rarely more than one stinker in a row and even the early years had some really good battles (Napoleon vs. Napoleon, Einstein vs. Hawking). There's dense references (Shakespeare raps in iambic pentameter; Poe raps in trochaic octameter; Stevie Wonder sings "I'm a man that comes from a Higher Ground/And I say that DC is a whole step down", referencing the Stevie Wonder song/Stevie up higher than Wonder Woman, D-C is a step down in music/DC Detective Comics).
Even the newer battles (mainly Ragnar Lodbrok vs. Richard the Lionheart & Karl Marx vs. Henry Ford) are still really dense raps and don't show a drop in quality by *any* means, just.
Everyone involved in this channel is really good, high recommendation for best yt channel
thanks tumblr, maybe i will try ringworm if you dont have anything else

Today's bird is this weka I saw on a hike in Paparoa National Park, Aoteroa New Zealand!
Aotearoa has so many fun and weird birds i love living here. Weka are comparitively normal.
Oh fuck off
I've seen this so often and even putting aside Jowling Kowling Rowling's disgusting views, it's a dogshit first line. A first line, ideally, should tell you something about the world, the tone, or the characters. Take 1984 for instance
It was a bright cold day in april, and the clocks were striking thirteen
Immediately the tone is established, and theres a sense of unease with the clocks striking 13. Also with 13 being an unlucky number, so it's not exactly going to be positive.
What about something a bit more... realistic, Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Thurston
Ships at a distance have every man's wish on board
A book written during the height of the Harlem Renaissance by a prominent black female author, with the deliberate choice of the words "every man", and not "everyone", setting the stage for a mixed race woman navigating a world not meant for her.
Even classic literature does better
Two households, both alike in dignity, In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
Setting? ✅
Tone?✅ (civil blood makes civil hands unclean)
Characters? Eh, we get the "two households" and "ancient grudge" but nothing about Romeo or Juliet
Rowling gives us
Mr and Mrs Dursley of number 4 Privet Drive were proud to say they were perfectly normal, thank you very much
Putting aside the clunky prose, this doesn't actually *tell* you anything. It introduces the Dursleys, a pair of minor characters that have very little bearing on the overall story, and says they're normal. I can only assume it's to contrast with the weirdness of the wizarding world, but it doesn't achieve that, because they're already super normal.
It's probably one of the worst opening lines because it doesn't DO anything, but because she's "being oppressed" and "a feminist icon", people like to think the sun's shining out of her ass
i dont think a lobotomy would fix me i just think it would be fun
i go into the lobotomy room i come back out hours later zero change but i seem like i had a pretty good time
They go to pull out my brain and just hear a party horn and confetti come out of my nose
I love listening to my entire music library on shuffle cos where else are you gonna hear s class by stray kids immediately followed by big iron by marty robbins. where else can I feel the emotion that elicited.

Pyromancy is ridiculously dangerous. Most pyromancers die before they turn 20 and 25 is considered ancient by their standards. You have reached 30 and show no signs of slowing down.
Hey guys! Guess what? You can point the fire away from you!
kitten, stop fucking around and tell daddy where you hid his prozac or daddy's gonna add another 'hey there delilah' to the sex playlist
