🎧 – Incapable of having a decision or word once her mom reappeared in the room, he was already forced out but it was probably better that way. In time, things will shift accordingly in his life and in hers. He promised himself that he would get stronger to protect that woman in every possible way; the way she left him that day, she was in danger of something. That something that caused her departure from his life– To save his life once again. This time, it would be the other way around even if his life was on the line. He’ll give that up without hesitation. If it was for her.
Although, that was almost a misconception when a month later from his last visit with Soyi, a yell was heard in the facility. Due to it being the holidays, no one on the floor was at home, all visiting family, all except for Sooha. The screech alarmed his senses and on instincts his body enclosed itself to where the source was. Soyi’s apartment door was wide open, the culprit’s shadow was casted against the wall and the figure painted the scene so clearly even in only black. He held a weapon and meoni’s voice trying to reason with the thief who was surprised she was within the room as well as he could tell by the way they were standing. Startled. Defensive. Hunting for the right time to attack.
When Sooha witnessed the shadow’s arm lifting upwards with the sharp item in hand, he sprinted inside and his eyes focused on the elder woman who was cowering in fear. “Meoni!!” In the breaking moment before the blade could make contact with the woman, Sooha cradled her body in his arms, her head protected by his shoulders, while being exposed to the violent act. A sharp sting sliced into his shoulder blade but that pain only drove him into a vicious combat between him and the armed intruder. After successfully reading the other’s mind in every move he was going to do, being one step ahead, he obtained the acute shaped weapon, Sooha smirked and lifted his arm up similar to what previously just happened. “I’m gonna kill you,” Sooha’s voice was low and dangerous like a predator talking to a prey. Before he could finish the action, the corner of his eyes landed upon the woman he has known for years looking at him with fear. Those eyes– Telling him not to do it in silence. In that second of wavering, the criminal escaped just that easy. Sooha’s body collapsed on the floor due to trying to overcome the pain in the elapsed time, grasping his side that drenched his shirt in his own blood.
☂ } it was nightfall when her mother called, which was strange, because her mother almost never called during these hours. there was a chill in the atmosphere when she noticed her phone vibrating. something didn’t feel right. now, jinx was just preparing to sleep, and she hadn’t quite finished the process yet, so it’s not like she was too busy to talk. if anything, she was concerned. when she picked up her phone, she heard her mother’s voice drenched in desperation, and something else-- something like fear. the woman was too enveloped in her own adrenaline that she could barely speak properly, but somewhere in the sputter, jinx knew exactly what happened-- it was exactly what she had dreaded-- but expected nonetheless.
she left the premises of her shared apartment with the excuse that she needed to be somewhere. it wasn’t a lie, but she also didn’t want to concern anyone over her own matters, so pulling her hood over her head, she captured the first cab by the main street. the hospital was approximately fifteen minutes away, and all jinx could think about was who was responsible-- who would dare to go as far as intrusion and inflicting harm on sooha for... what? a few thousand won? as grateful as she was that the situation didn’t spiral into worse, she was also devastated. sooha didn’t deserve that pain.
as soon as she arrived at the hospital, she rushed into the building, nearly tackling a nurse down for the room number the boy was assigned to, and hurrying there. how bad was the wound? fatal? trivial? will it heal in time? or--
“ sooha! ” she burst into the room, staring ablaze at the patient with heavy breaths still escaping from her. but regardless of how tired she was from running, she still approached him, displaying nothing short of concern, “ are you okay? does it hurt? did you see who did it? are they still out there? ” she paused once she reached his bedside, and her expression seemed to soften, like she wasn’t upset, but she was remorseful.
i’m sorry. she folded her frame now, gazing up at him and eyeing his bandages, but thank you, for saving my family.
