It’s time for a re-introduction. Hi, I’m Kaitlin. 🤎 I’m a writer living North Carolina where I’m currently pursuing my Ph.D. in comparative literature. I write romantic fantasy and literary fiction, poetry, and essays of the academic and personal sort.
Authors I admire include Anne Carson, Toni Morrison, Gabriela Mistral, bell hooks, Rebecca Ross, Adrienne Rich, Audre Lorde, and Mary Oliver. I enjoy reading (and writing) literature that interrogates the world as we know it and demands better; complicated female characters that don’t shy away from their flaws; poetry that reflects the gritty parts of life back at itself.
In my studies, I research women’s writings in the nineteenth century. Particularly, I research how women have engaged in classicism or classical reception as exemplified in their writings. As I’m only in my first year of studies, the details of my speciality are still developing, but I look forward to recovering understudied women’s writings.
For regular updates on my studies and writings, please subscribe to my substack. It is my intention to create a public dialogue on what it means to be a writer and an educator through all stages of becoming so. Anyway, hi. I’m glad to be here.
