Meet Queen Anaklusmos, her story is one either in the future or the past, nowhere near the time of the DOD era either way, and is more so a story of tragedy.
(Skip *___* if you haven’t read PJO and want to read it someday)
*Her namesake, Anaklusmos, is inspired by PJO or “riptide” Percy Jackson’s sword, aka the sword of Zoë nightshade, then the sword of Hercules who betrayed Zoë… *
She wears an earring, gifted to her by her brother, and lives her life as Princess of the seawing kingdom… rather isolated due to her importance. Only ever being able to see her brother… however her brother, Cove, was stuck in some rather dangerous things. He was a spy, or so that was the excuse the queen had given anyway… when she sent and assassin to kill him.
He disappears without a trace and its thought that it was successful, in some realities it was, but in many, the assassin and him fall in love. Cove and Empath end up escaping, as it’s clear if she finds out he’s not dead, they’d both be on the chopping block.
He regrets leaving sometimes, but knows if he takes anaklusmos the kingdom will fall and they would all be in danger. So he left her. His little sister. His angry. Isolated. Little sister.
She didn’t believe that Cove could ever do anything wrong. And when she found out he was ‘dead’, because of her mother, and that he had been plotting to kill the Queen and set her up on the throne…she snapped. She would do what he wanted.
Alone and confused, betrayed and hateful, she swam, outraged, quiet. She swam slowly and as she drifted by a table full of food… she in a trance… took a blade… nobody noticed. Nobody noticed until there was blood in the water, and a knife in the queens stomach. She slid the blade up as her mother clawed at her, she had believed her dragonet was going in for a hug… and began to choke on her own blood, everything froze. Besides the knife… and the twitching of the dying former queen. As her daughter’s blood mixed with her own as she clawed at her daughter unable to get away from the embrace. Leaving gashes…As her own daughter kept dragging the blade… until it reached her jaw… and she sunk to the bottom of the room. She dropped the knife. Before leaving the room… seeming… more like herself after the weeks of mourning……
Anaklusmos was young when she became queen, but certainly not stupid. She saw how they looked at her. How they eyed her talons for a glimpse of silver. They questioned her right to the throne… after all there was no official challenge. But who else was there to rule besides her? Nobody. Just how it was intended.
Unfortunately now she had to be Queen… and that was a hassle all in itself. As the council was old and snippy, and… nervous. And they were rather insistent on keeping her under constant surveillance, after all she was the only one fit to be queen… and with no mate in sight it was unlikely there would be back ups… there were cousins and nieces sure, but none with true claim. But really… they needed to watch her as much as those around her.
So of course, they gave her a personal guard. There were 5 total, but she always stood closest to this one… as this one never looked at her like she was dangerously close to another murder. Rather always seemed to be looking… at HER… rather than at… her. So she would usually send the others away. And keep this one. The others noticed. The chosen guard, Jet, certainly didn’t and wondered why the others would smirk as they left them alone. Jet honestly thought Anaklusmos hated her. Or at the very least would never really look at her… the way Jet looked at Anaklusmos.
A: really dude? She’s like taller than you, stronger than you, and could totally beat you up!
B: *sighs wistfully* yeah..❤️
Jet’s fellow guards would often tease them about it, about how Jet would look at her, and how Anaklusmos would never look her way, not once, and yet always kept her specifically … it confused her. And Jet was in the room when the topic of heirs came up in a council meeting many years after that fateful day. Jet gripped her spear tighter till her talons ached. She watched, as the Queen go still.. Jet suddenly couldn’t focus on very much, as from her stance next to the Queen… she felt something brush hesitantly against her tail, in the instant of silence. As though the Queen was reaching out… for something solid. Jet quietly responded in kind. There was a Pause for just a moment. The conversation silent, or rather, dark, as they all looked at Anaklusmos, who in totally subtle fashion bulldozed past that part to talk about the economy.
It wasn’t until later that night Jet managed to work up the courage to ask as to why Anaklusmos had reached out like that during the council meeting.
It was then.. Anaklusmos looked at her. Saw her. She paused. As she always did before answering a question.
‘… I apologize… that was not appropriate of me to do… to you… especially with ranking… you may have felt pressured—‘
They stared at each other. Jet stuttered to apologize, her grumbly rough voice coming off angrier than she’d meant,
“S-Sorry. It’s just- I- i didn’t feel pressured. I want you to.. know that”
There was a moment of silence.
Jets heart skipped a beat,
The queen nodded again, slowly, she always had this… sadness that never quite left her eyes… Jet watched her walk over to her closet, where her jewelry hung.
“Have you ever wondered what it’s like… to be with a woman?”
Jet very nearly flatlined. She stumbled over her words in an attempt to say anything remotely coherent,
“I uh- well- um- I can’t say I haven’t exactly not thought about it- er um- your magesty- ma’am, a-Anaklusmos”
Anaklusmos stared at her for what felt like way too long in Jets opinion and yet not nearly long enough. Jet felt like she was overheating in this armor of hers. And that she may snap her spear if she squeezed it any harder. The truth was Jet had wondered what it was like to be with a woman. The Queen. Often. Rather often. Almost all the time. Jet was ashamed. A horrible guard. Unprofessional and of lower rank? No chance, so not only was she violating her job description but she was also sending herself spiraling into an abyss of gay depression— why was Anaklusmos looking at her like that.
Jet woke up coated in bite marks and felt like she’d been hit by a whale. Curled around her was the Queen. She was soooo fired.
(I assume you freaks on tumblr will be fine with a little suggestion, if not, s o r r y it was funny in my head)
