So…after some nervous (over)thinking, wrestling with my desire to write, and my general angst about resuming fic writing, I’ve decided to relaunch my Shakarian fic, A Second Chance, on AO3.

A Second Chance is set during ME2 and associated DLCs. I will probably start a new fic for ME3 once I get there.

My current goal/plan is to update it weekly to biweekly.

For now, I’ll probably keep it updated on Fanfiction.net as well unless they do something else to make me crazy. I’m really impressed by AO3 so far. :)

Karin couldn’t deny it. When Joker showed her the “new” Normandy, in all her glory, her heart had soared against all rationality. Now, however, as she walked through the CIC for the first time, logic and reason had taken back over. She schooled her face into the collected, in control Commander Shepard mask, but her thoughts were another matter.

None of this makes any sense. This ship, amazing as she might be, isn’t really Normandy as far as I’m concerned. In fact, none of this seems “real”. 

The surroundings were oddly familiar, but aside from Joker, the faces were not. The uniforms were markedly different; the lighting and smells less so. The Cerberus logo below Normandy’s holographic image disrupted her scan of the CIC. She was suddenly very aware of Jacob and Miranda behind her. Two of the Illusive Man’s hand-chosen minders, apparently.

Making this mine and not some Cerberus-guilded cage is going to take work. Fortunately, THAT hasn’t ever stopped me.
