most of the metric system is great and all but honestly fuck celsius
lemme explain smthn: farenheit is human-centered.
in celsius, you have to use the dumb fucking scale of “0 = ???, 40 = hot as shit” like damn that’s some exponential curve stuff
but with farenheit it’s simple af. 0 is v cold. 100 is v hot. the end.
celsius makes sense for water, but am i water? no, im human.
stop being smug for using a shit temperature system.
oooh but you’re not though! let me tell you why we use celsius. no one is going to listen to this i just hate fahrenheit and need to get it out
basing shit on “v cold” and “v hot” is??? what does that actually mean. 0ºF is cold yeah but how cold? based on what?? “human body temperature” ok but like what actually happens at 0ºF. like that’s a legitimate question im not american i have no idea why that system is even relevant to anything. i researched it and everything and discovered that no one can even really agree on what the heck daniel gabriel fahrenheit was going on about when he made the damn scale.
but celsius is so much easier! it’s based on the freezing (0ºC) and boiling (100ºC) points of water. and yeah, you’re not water, you’re human, but water is fundamental to life as we know it and humans are weird and inconsistent. don’t base stuff on humans. we’re not the centre of the universe. we kinda suck actually
and then you’ve got frricking kelvin (K), which is the scale you use for big spacey stuff that we use to calculate how everything in existence works, and it uses almost the exact same system as celsius. like, the degree is exactly the same, except that kelvin is 273.15 degrees lower. but fahrenheit is ???????????? who even knows how to convert that. it’s basically rejected in science. u dont use it because it’s dumb and irrelevant and annoying. u dont need it irl either trust me im australian and i find celsius perfectly serviceable on a day to day basis.
anyway that’s why i hate fahrenheit and you’re wrong thanx for listening
Nah, Fahrenheit is still better
Fahrenheit is literally invalid because people feel temperatures differently. One person’s very cold is another person’s just right. Water doesn’t feel. Water is objective.
Human temperatures are not objective. Even the average human body temperature varies a whole 2°C. That’s a big difference to base a whole heat measuring system off of.
Celcius temperatures make sense based on what you see in the world around you. Is there snow? Is water freezing? Is there frost on the ground making grass stiff and crunchy? Its <0°C. Fahrenheit temps seem so arbitrary and don’t make sense fot day to day life, sorry.
Fahrenheit is an archaic form of measurement and it’s so extra too because of its larger unnecessary scaling. Celsius is much simple and more logical..
-1 to -10 to onwards: Freezing cold (high chance of snow) 0: Cold (freezing point. the fact freezing point in Fahrenheit is 32?? like whats the logic behind such a specific number.. whereas 0 is much more memorable and a better benchmark) 10: Cool 20: About room temperature 25: Hot 30+: Very hot
and besides…

literally the fact America is like the only country using Fahrenheit while the rest of the world uses Celsius must be a sign that there’s something odd
Fahrenheit is so random it sounds like a shitpost. 0°F is the lowest temperature recorded in a random german city during a random winter, and 100°F the temperature of a horse.
