the thing about luke and leia is that they aren’t just replicas of their parents. the whole “luke is like padme, leia is like anakin” thing reduces their own complexities and lacks nuance. luke IS like padme, but he is also very much like anakin. he has anakin’s headstrong carelessness (which is why his uncle and aunt, and obi wan and yoda, see him as too much like his father), and in juxtaposition with padme’s relentless sense of purpose, it creates a new dynamic all of his own.
and leia isn’t just like anakin because she’s fiery or whatever. she’s like anakin because, despite having her mother’s composure, she has her father’s passion for things. they both care so much, albeit for different things. however, i believe she would see herself more in padme, because while anakin’s big attachments are to people, leia and padme are generally more attached to causes and values and morals (also a similarity leia shares with obi wan).
but their traits can be attributed to other things, as well. luke is very genuine and honest to a fault, like his upbringing on tatooine would have taught him to be. leia is regal or well-spoken, but not because of her mother. she’s like that because she was raised in preparation to be queen of alderaan. and their wittiness, their charm, their love, their grief, their hopes are all original to them.
