the dog: "You wanna go to jail"
I recently came out to my mother's side of the family who are majority conservative christians and it went much better than I expected. Like, they were weirdly supportive. I only got one comment insinuating that I might possibly be going to hell but it came from my aunt and she's dying soon anyway so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Anyway, I'm telling them how shocked I am and that I honestly thought that they'd have more of a problem with it when my grandma is like "Well you know we've been through this before with your uncle Nicky" and I'm like "what" and so it turns out that my uncle Nick was born a Natalie, came out as a boy at 19, and my great grandma proceeded to pay for his top surgery and hormone therapy. In 1974. And I just had to process for a bit because my entire life no one has referred to him as anything other than he/him and his chosen name. I ask why no one ever thought to mention this and they're just like "tbh we forgot. It's been so long that he's been a man" This man is married. He has a wife and three kids. I ask my relatives how they went about having kids, whether through adoption or sperm donor or what and none of them know. Apparently he just told everyone that they were gonna be parents and then one day showed up at my grandma's house with a baby. No questions were asked. Just. He and his wife had a baby now and that was that. Three times. Weeks later when I finally talk to my aunt Sarah (Nick's wife) all she tells me is that neither of them have ever been pregnant and, I quote, "sometimes you just come into children". She phrased it like people use the phrase "come into money". Like children are something that just happens to you. I ask my relatives if any of them had a problem with Nick being trans at the time, saying I'd understand if they had negative feelings about it, as it was the 1970s after all. They were like "nope" and i was just like "you didn't think anything of it?" And my grandfather was like "these things happen" while the other adults nodded sagely. So I guess the moral here is that if my conservative christian relatives could accept my uncle as trans in the 1970s then there really isn't any excuse for anyone. And also my family needs to ask more questions because I'm fairly sure my aunt and uncle stole their kids.
I'm laughing my ass off at that last sentence- But I'm so glad your coming out went well! That's one heck of a way to find out you have LGBT relatives.
I’ve never seen this with the update and it makes it so much funnier
so there’s no hot evil villain in love with me?

I found it Arashi fans!!! Here’s the behind-the-scenes story about “Carnival Night Part 2”. This was in Myojo’s album mini booklet(?), “Young Song”(November, 2006).
Question by Emi, Gunma prefecture: “In Arashi’s album, ‘Arashic’, there’s a song called ‘CARNIVAL NIGHT part 2’. Is there Part 1?”
Let’s ask Sakurai-san! “We didn’t actually record it, but there was part 1. We actually had to revise the lyrics multiple times for this song. The chorus, ♪CARNIVAL NIGHT〜, was ♪水金地火木、土天海、冥!〜 (*note: Sui Kin Chi Ka Moku, Dot Ten Kai, Mei!) lol. Turns out Pluto is no longer a planet anymore, so we changed the lyrics… But we felt bad for the lyricist, so we named the completed one ‘Part 2’. Just to sort out our feelings.”
*edit: Decided to post this since Pluto is a planet according to a Harvard Astronomers ;) We’re all waiting for the Part 1 now Arashiii!!!
I don’t understand how on TV, people can break into homes and immediately find bank statements, passports and super important documents. If someone tried that at my place it would be “I’m sure she keeps her important stuff in her desk. No, wait, this draw is full of pens that don’t work. Aha! This box looks important! Oh, never mind. It’s full of cigarette lighters. She doesn’t even smoke!”
*I* can’t even find my own important documents in my own home half the time. If someone breaks in and instantly finds my stuff they’re hired
Robber, standing in the middle of the room: Now, if I were an anxious, possibly undiagnosed ADHD, bisexual disaster with a really bad memory, where would I put the documents?
i don’t lose hyperfixations they just go dormant until I hear something about it like a sleeper agent
rewatching fullmetal alchemist after you know that selim is pride is the funniest thing in the fucking world
He goes to SCHOOL. “he’s the top of his class and got the best grade on his assignment” yeah I bet he did. I bet this prideful bitch wouldn’t be able handle getting anything less than it.
They got kimblee out of jail because they were hard on hands that’s SO funny because pride is RIGHT THERE!!!!!! But they can’t use him bc you know why? He’s too busy doing his ENGLISH HOMEWORK
EXACTLY!!!!!!! Pride is ready at any moment to slaughter an entire family but first he has to eat his 4.99 chicken fingers that his mommy got him off the kids menu!!!!!!!!
Alright now no one tell anyone
Sell in the winter to give someone a very confusing summer.
Well i can’t let those tags go unseen
I love that Leverage really goes out of it’s way to show us that just because you break the ‘rules’, it doesn’t mean you’re breaking the rules. Rules and laws and society are all made up, at the end of the day, and all you really have is your own moral compass and sense of justice; is this just to you? Is it right? Should it be OK for companies to put people in insurmountable debt for the rest of their lives just because our medical care is so expensive in this modern day and age? No law or rule should change what you know in your heart is right and wrong, and I think that’s the key thing that makes someone a good person in my eyes.
#there was a time when parker wouldn’t have noticed, #not because she lacked the capacity to care, #but because she had narrowed herself, #to stay alive she cut off as many unnecessary things as possible, #watching her get them all back, #is one of the glories of this show (via @seananmcguire)
Leverage hands down has the best character development I’ve ever seen.
This scene hit me like a brick. My parents were hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt when I was 16 bc I’d had cancer the year before (my treatment ended up being free but the initial ER bills and such were not).
But somewhere along the line they just… Disappeared. My mom says they’re not being paid and they’re not in collections. It’s almost as if someone out there did…exactly what Parker did.
Ever since I saw this the first time, I’ve imagined it was Parker doing it. That she and Hardison had a free weekend and decided to take it out on a collections agency. That I was one of the lucky ones who got a little Leverage.
Okay but like yeah, that is actually a thing that happens, albeit not exactly like this. I don’t remember the exact process but basically there’s a booming industry to sell peoples debt - the business you owe money to sells it to someone else for a fraction of the money owed, wipes their hands of the whole affair, and now whoever bought your debt is riding your ass to get you to give the money to the. But it’s also entirely possible for people to just… buy up massive amounts of debt for pennies on the dollar, and then just. Forgive it. Because capitalism is a living nightmare, but the system is broken enough that it’s possible to exploit it for good sometimes.
Like, the main reason I know about this is because John Oliver did a piece on debt buying a few years ago, and ended it by revealing that he’d bought 15 million dollars worth of medical debt just so he could forgive all of it. Both to expose how broken the system was because some random fucker like him could buy millions of dollars in peoples debt with zero regulations, and also just to take the record for biggest TV giveaway in history.
A charity where you can do this, right here.
Be Parker!
RIPMedicalDebt was created by John Oliver to do that giveaway. They’re amazingly effective and efficient with donations
