Fall from Grace

Fall from Grace: FfG is a companion story that acts as the antithesis of Sacred and Most Favored. These are snapshots of the Black Family’s lives (and occasionally others) in a world without Hermione. This story will be as close to canon compliant as I can make it as I want readers to be able to watch as the House of Black and Magical Britain slowly fall to the darkness encroaching on their world. I also want to use this as a bridge between Canon and Sacred to create a more realistic evolution of the characters in both storylines.

This account will get the first look at it!!!

These chapters are significantly smaller than their SaMF counterparts, essentially a chapter per arc or so, until the story reaches existing canon content.

The first chapter will be Un-Encountered, the story of Sirius in the park, without the Grangers to intervene.

Someone asked about the Hospital Bills, since the UK has NHS.

At one point in collage we had a reading assignment that involved the NHS in the 1970s. During this time London had a bit of a staffing and room shortage in hospitals. If you wanted/needed a room to yourself you had to pay out of pocket and use 'private rooms' in some places.

William had to be placed in his own room because of Krane. With it unknown by staff who attacked who the individuals involved had to be separated and most hospitals have rules that they can't be visible or have easy access to eachother.

This happened a few times in real life, especially when the police/a crime was involved.

The bill isn't big (think under $250 US today) but for people in dire straights thats a lot of money.

2 New Potters

Alright so Henry and Albert Potter are making their way into the story it seems. Which is pretty nice cause they were going to die:

Henry- as a 19 yr old in an Auror training ‘accident’ (kidnapped during a simulation, tortured, and killed) in which Charlus had been unable to reach him in time. Was trained under Moody.

and 

Albert- as a first year from a bludger to the head during a quidditch match that Dorea and Charlus had been attending, dead before he even fell off the broom (why first years can’t play quidditch).

Some of you have wondered about the fact that no one has dealt with Arcturus yet. 

In SaMF the Heads of the House (Patriarch/Matriarch, Lord/Lady, Priest/Priestess, etc) are protected by the rites and rituals of their house. This is to ensure that there isn’t continuous infighting and people aren’t relentlessly attempting to murder the Heads. People who go against the rites die at the hands of the family magic (whether they’re in the right or not). Unfortunately, this means that its hard to dislodge Arcturus. 

There are ways around it. 

For example Orion could have fought his Father in a duel for the position of Patriarch after Sirius and Regulus were born (an heir and a spare), a clause within the rights because Arcturus had given the house only one true heir. But he suffered the dueling injury that cost him his career. He technically still could, but Arcturus is a nasty piece of work who isn’t above killing his own son. Orion could easily outduel him, but his injury is a large weakness that makes him susceptible to dark magics, something Arcturus would capitalize on. He’d also need a second who could hold his/her own (Arcturus’s second is Pollux, Walburga’s Father). 

Orion would likely die taking out Arcturus, which would leave Pollux in charge, which would piss off Walburga who married Orion in part to have more power over her parents than they did over her, and who hates her parents on a good day (they represent everything wrong with pureblood apathy and disgrace the name of Black in Walburga’s opinion, they also represent all of her crushed dreams and desires).

Sacred and Most Favored is the title of my first fanfiction. After a rough start and several setbacks I’ve been able to return to it after abandoning it for over a year. 

It’s a Sirius x Hermione story based around the idea of ‘what would happen if Hermione had A) been born in the marauder’s era and B) had influenced and been influenced by the House of Black’. The characters will be a little ooc but their core characteristics will be the same in the end. (You’d be a little different to if you had a different life than the one you have now).

The concept works off of the idea that the Black Family didn’t start out as a super-evil house, and instead started with flawed people who ended up in a position that led to their eventual destruction.
