This is the finished product of my Black family tree!! Most of it is canon, with a few reworkings, speculation, or just completely made-up fanon.

Most of the dates are made up, with few exceptions, as well as the names of the kids from marriages of Black daughters. Also there's crossover with @katakosmos & their Rosier family tree with the fanon marriage of Elladora and Felix !!

Black Family Fatherhood Headcanons for Father's Day:

-Walburga sends her father the exact same bottle of cognac for Father's Day every year.

-Every Sunday evening Orion would read his sons a story before bed - from Nature's Nobility: A Wizarding Genealogy. This tradition stopped when Sirius was around nine and had developed an allergy to sitting still long enough to listen.

-Cygnus's favourite child is Bellatrix, because her skill at 'masculine' pursuits such as hunting was the closest he'd get to being able to imagine having a son.

-Arcturus personally taught Orion to play chess, a tradition Orion carried on with his own sons. Although Orion forced them to learn the hard way and never let them win out of kindness, he never once snapped "Idiot boy" at them when they made mistakes whilst playing - unlike Arcturus.

-Lucretia has been 'ill' for the last seven consecutive Father's Days, in an effort at least one of the three-times-a-year pecks on the cheek her father expects of her (the other two being his birthday and Christmas).

-On his last Father's Day before his untimely demise, Regulus accidentally gave Orion the exact same gift voucher for Flourish & Blotts that his father had given him at Christmas. The day had snuck up on him and he'd been left without any alternative present. He'd had so much going on that he had completely overlooked the handwritten message on the back. Orion was too downcast about the day itself to point it out and cause even more awkwardness than there was already in the house.

-In a post-reconciliation no-war AU, Sirius insists on spending Father's Day doing 'bonding activities' with Orion and Regulus, except he delights in doing all the planning himself, resulting in the other two having to endure very Sirius-minded things such as camping or hiking.

I just know the Black Family funerals are so grandiose!! They are, dare I say, more spectacular, even, than their weddings. I just know it.

Sirius and Colette make a big decision about their future. Orion's plans for his family are revealed.

It's just a personal idea (not a headcanon or canon) but I like the idea that Voldemort was so impressed/satisfied with Bellatrix's performance as a death eater and right hand woman that he personally tried to recruit Sirius Black. Like twice the Black power and loyalty, uk? Bellatrix was not shy about the fact that Sirius was undergoing the same magical education that she once had - before he was born and replaced her as heir. She wasn't at Hogwarts at the same time as him and moved out of Grimmauld Place when he was pre-Hogwarts; she has little idea that his politics oppose hers so dramatically - beyond the fact that he's a Gryffindor. She's also a little insane about Voldemort and doesn't understand how people cannot love him. She does know Sirius from visits to Grimmauld Place - but she doesn't live there anymore.

Voldemort personally showed up at Grimmauld Place to recruit Sirius. His parents not protecting him from that or actually pressuring him to join was the last straw that terrified Sirius into running away to live with James. He didn't actually know if James's parents would accept him living there but at that point death wouldve been preferable than living as Voldemort's lackey - via fear or imperius. Walburga disowned Sirius not just for running away but for embarrassing their family in front of someone as powerful as Voldemort, whom she admired.

Sirius was never formally disowned - because as much as Walburga acted as if she was the head of the black house; she wasn't. Burning him off the tapestry was cosmetic. She had no real control over the leadership of house Black. The head was Arcturus Black, who never actually disowned Sirius - but he also didn't help him either. He stayed neutral during the war - unlike Walburga who was a supporter and groomed Regulus into being a follower.

Regulus was definitely jealous of the attention that Voldemort gave Sirius and fell headfirst into the propaganda that his parents fed him to take Sirius' place and become heir and become another one of Voldemort's inner death eater circle - hence why Voldemort asks Regulus (among his inner circle) for an elf to hide a horcrux. He was pressured into diving headfirst into Voldemort's ranks at all costs to prove his loyalty and make up for Sirius shame. (it's not enough though; Regulus has more than twice the reverence that Sirius could ever have but less than half the power and ruthlessness that drew Voldemort to Sirius and Bellatrix).
