I didn’t have trouble sleeping until I moved to Nashville. 3 years ago, on a foggy night like this one, I was tossing, turning and fumbling for my phone, checking Twitter for signs of life. Night Beds was awake somewhere (I think Winston was still living in Nashville at the time). He posted this song, and before it lulled me to sleep, I smiled, feeling the weight of that big dark blanket lighten a little. It was around then that he was, coincidentally, finishing his critically acclaimed debut, Country Sleep. I met him at a show maybe a year later and told him about those lonely, sleepless nights. I thanked him for keeping me company that one time with “Midnight, The Stars and You.” We’ve been friends ever since.
