So naturally, every time someone didn’t have a pencil she would charge them 10 house points (which, even in schools where there is an actual house point system, probably doesn’t fucking happen). She openly held the belief that she had to ascribe value to these precious writing implements or else no one would appreciate them, a concept evidenced by, i kid you not, how when homeless people are given houses for free they let them fall into disarray, because they didn’t pay for the house and therefore didn’t care about it. I, a pissed off 13 year old with a vendetta against power hungry teachers and also JK Rowling, brought a 100 pack of pencils to school so that whenever someone had to ask for one, instead of being charged a fictional currency and upsetting their fellow, deeply competitive students, i would just give them one. If the pencil didn’t come from the teacher, she couldn’t charge points for it.

This upset her. She couldn’t assert her power over the 1st period Advanced 8th Grade Math Class anymore. For i, The Pencil Liberator, had come to put an end to her tyrannous behavior.

She told me to stop about 30 pencils in.

Ive come across (or experienced) so many stories of teachers where they really could do with another adult going up to them and being like 'hey bud, what the fuck are you doing?! You know thats low key insane right??''. But unfortunately they're only doing this in front of kids, who may think it's wild, but the teacher is an adult so they assume they probably know best or would be supported by other adults.

genuinely I'm so sick of people wanting all fiction to be ethical. can we all just get a little gross with it. the point of fiction is that it's not real. we can be unethical in fiction; same goes with being perverted with fiction, being unrealistic with fiction, and being grotesque with fiction. not all fiction has to be ethical, not every character has to be ethical, and that's okay. can we stop with the puritanism. be gross. be unrealistic. be whatever. if I don't like it it's not my business as long as we're all clear that its fictional.

When I was 7 the only sport I ever wanted to play was baseball. My parents didn't let mr because it was "a boy sport" but I could play softball!

I did not want to play softball.

So, I went the rest of my childhood and even now never playing a sport. Sometimes I think about what my life would be like if they did let me play a 'boys' sport.
