Rocky: we built our spaceship by unifying every mind on the planet to create a super hive mind, pooling out collective knowledge and problem solving skills to come up with a plan.
Grace: we gave the scariest woman I've ever met two coffees every morning, an unlimited budget, and enough legal immunity to cuss out any world leaders she wanted to and boy did she want to.
Ok ok ok I've seen a lot of fanart and posts about Rocky being the one to try and rizz up Adrian
But what if
Adrian was the one that basically went "please please please please plea-" on Rocky
I just think it would be funny
This super smart Eridian version of a super model saw that one short freaky guy that is physicaly incapable of shutting tf up and just went "that one, I want that one"
"Now he's my freak, and I'm going to fight for him."
And later
"this is my freak and his space monster. I won't fight for him because my freak will beat you up enough. I'll just humiliate you verbally"
You work under the single most feared and influential mob boss in the entire country. ...Not that you actually KNOW you're in the mafia, as you're not exactly the most observant person.
Well, let's continue the saga with spaceships.
I have SM-13!!! not completely like with Endurance, but nevertheless!!
This guy is incredibly pedantic and follows instructions because he realized long ago that if you don't follow instructions, you won't get humane™ treatment and you won't survive. so when Simon used his precious instructions to PUT THE GAS PEDAL he was not happy
He has a small manipulator arm, the same one that was welded to him when Simon was lifted up. it was the last gift from his creators/parents, called upon to help the СOI, and he would have completed this task with honor if not the man-. This manipulator doesn't work now, it's stuck with a piece of bone in its tenacious grip.
and, as mentioned in earlier posts, he is blind due to the accident in which the porthole was damaged!
in this illustrated I tried to emotionally show how plastic and glass were melt!ng his already g0uged out eyes \(ϋ)/♩
poor guy, my condolences
He has a yellow jacket like Ava's, bulletproof vest, black greasy hair. also, broad shoulders and narrow hips like professional swimmers.
I also think that for submarines (all SM guys) sharing data from the black box is a very personal matter (like the Eridians eating or watching the sleeping ones) so hacking the black box from the SM-8 was like desecrat!ng a grave. he knew her before her death, and it was very sad for him
so, Endurance
single dad from the post-apocalypse
His and his children's clothes are made from old military uniforms, as a reference to the sources of the parts from which he was assembled.
He has really long and strong arms; he could easily lift a taller man or bench press a lot of weight. (I don't know what's considered heavy, sorry.)
As mentioned in previous posts, he's an incredible fatalist. He started trying to read some philosophy back in the very beginning, when they waited 27 years for the crew near Miller's planet. but the endless acceptance of all the fucked up things in his life happened after flying past Gargantua, seeing the Event Horizon and the deaths of his children. and if Ranger 1 looked like a grown-up girl, then Ranger 2 was a little boy.
"Parents don't need to bury their children," Murph told Cooper. Endurance agreed, but no one asked him.
He has some problems with black holes.
So, spaceships again.
I have a ton of sketches and some ideas for their lore, so I'll probably start with the coolest. With injuries.
Probably the most interesting will be SM-13's blindness. Although in general it's quite trivial - it happened when the porthole cracked during an unsuccessful dive, when Simon didn't close it with the shield fast enough. According to my imagination, SM-13 wears protective goggles, similar to plastic tactical ones, only black. And during the dive, they, naturally, cracked. The glass inward, right in the eyes.
And then, when the air and metal started to heat up from the operation of the mechanisms, the material that got into the eyes began to melt. In short, now SM-13's face is just a strip of molten glass and pseudo-plastic.
Something else interesting is the consequences of depressurization and explosions on ships. I think if the explosion didn't damage the outer hull and the atmosphere remained, then the only thing left on the ship's body are scars. If there was a complete depressurization, then that's when things get really bad. I haven't really thought through the mechanics, but for example, the airlock explosion on Hermes, which resulted in the depressurization of a large compartment, resulted he losing his leg up to the hip. And the Ikarus-2, which didn't have any damage to its hull after the greenhouse explosion, simply sports large burn scars across its chest and part of its face. The scars are located exactly like this because it was sort of a clever reference to oxygen problems. The Endurance also had an explosion, but it didn't lead to depressurization (I think), so it just has a jagged scar on its hip.
There can also be consequences from reentering the atmosphere if the ship isn't designed for it. Usually, these are breathing problems and burns, maybe scratches from large rocks and asteroids. Well, and the overload, similar to a terrible migraine.
(Mary, while fishing, inhaled terribly tauamoeba and almost had a heart attack when her passengers almost died from the overload and contact with other atmospheres. Armando literally cried when Rocky didn't wake up after a normal sleep cycle.)
((Ranger-2, who went to a planet that was close to Gargantua, did not grow up and remained a kid, while his father and sister grew old. It's very disappointing, he thinks.))
Hmm... that's all I can remember for now
I suddenly found myself in the spaceship fandom from all these stupid sci-fi movies. I don't talk about these ships enough, they are beautiful.
Top ideas for ships from the sci-fi
1. Endurance (from Interstellar) An incredible introvert. guy spent too much time in the company of a robot and a comatose man. and he also went through a wormhole, exploded, flew on the edge of a black hole, lost his children (the ranger ships), and ended up on a distant, lonely planet in the company of another robot, a woman, and a bunch of biological material. he's seen too much shit 🚬🚬🚬 He's had enough. but at the same time he had a glimpse of the event horizon and had acquired a certain philosophy of fatalism. "What will be will be" "We are all hostages of physics. And people. And robots. Help me."
(losing children is a reference to Cooper, lol)
2. Icarus-2 (from Sunshine) the only ship that doesn't care about her people. In the film, she's downright capricious, disobeys orders, resists people, and generally behaves like a bad girl. Well, I think she has her reasons for it. People's actions caused her compartment to explode, her sun shield to malfunction, and oh yeah, how can we forget, SHE'S CARRYING A BUNCH OF TONS OF EXPLOSIVES RIGHT INTO THE SUN AND SHE WILL HAVE 4 MINUTES TO GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE TO SURVIVE (IT WON'T WORK). She might have a few bad days. She considers the other ships, more loyal to their people, to be weaklings and wimps.
3. Blip-A (from the Hail Mary project) Really Eridian. I fully support Blipmary, i love space yuri but it endlessly amuses me that they are Eridian. Their body is diamond-shaped, a pleasant copper and green color, and their legs are very long and thin. They run on their long spider legs and comically croak the dirtiest curses they know. Well, they still have twenty-two dead Eridians inside them and they don't know how to get rid of them. And then there's the tauamoeba infestation. and they were abandoned in space. They are lonely. They are happy with any object rushes around them, they are happy with anything, as long as AT LEAST SOMETHING HAPPENS. loneliness kills them.
4. Hermes (from The Martian) was incredibly reluctant to go back to Mars. Not even for the sake of the cool Mark guy. No, thank you, that's enough, no more, he wants to go home. and then his own people BLOWN HIM UP. It was very painful and offensive, thank you. He didn't become as embittered as Icarus-2 because he hoped that he would be repaired upon arrival home.
5. Mary and Armando (from the same Hail Mary) as an older sister and younger brother with autism. The younger brother's autism had gone so far into medicine that he became so frighteningly good at it that Mary totally trust him and didn't even look at what he was doing all those 12 light years away. and when she finally paid attention to him, it turned out that two of the three wards had died. Armando no longer spoke. Selective muteness or something like that, sorry, I don't have special interest in medicine. Now they both overprotective over their only alive human and forgive him everything. Ikarus-2 most confused because of the two of them. and I also think that fuel from astrophags is about the same as food from tauamoeba, so both are terribly thin and nervous.
6. SM-13 (from The Iron Lung) weird antisocial guy. he's not even a spaceship, he's a fucking submarine. He doesn't know these guys (the other ships) but he's forced to hang out with them. he has a third manipulator arm, like Victor from League of Legends but it doesn't work. It was frozen forever, as if in a spasm, holding a piece of someone's bone in its claws. He's loyal to the Iron Consolidation. He's a bit of a kamikaze, a bit blinded after that an unsuccessful dive when Simon closed the porthole too late. Perhaps I'll describe it in more detail later. In general, he doesn't really like his passenger either, but before his destruction (death) he admitted that this guy is good because he saved the Black Box.
I also have a bunch of sketches for these guys that I drew out of boredom, I hope I have enough strength to format them and post them too
Do you also have any ideas regarding the ships from Sci-fi?
Mark Watney: By the end of his vacation on Mars, he was unhealthy thin, hairy, hadn't washed in months, had bruises that wouldn't heal, maybe was lost a couple of teeth, and was generally exhausted.
Ryland Grace: By the end of the trip to Eris, he was underweight, had eaten biologically incomprehensible bacteria, maybe suffered from scurvy, for sure lost a couple of teeth, was dirty, overgrown and angry.
Simon Convict: By the end of his suffering lost an arm, swallowed mutagenic blood, was dropped into a wall several times, irradiated, almost boiled alive in a welded submarine. Oh, and oxygen deprivation left its mark on he.
Joseph Cooper: doesn't look a day older or more exhausted than at 35
This diva jumped into a black hole and was in fourth dimension and still looks the healthiest of them all
I love them all
Hold my beer
The romantic dynamic between Stratt and Grace only works if you shove Karl in the middle.
I 100% love the headcanon that Stratt and Grace are aroace and platonic whatever-the-fuck-is-going-on-between-them. But just think about it!!! This totally normal guy balances out their intellect and asexuality; he’s a buffer zone between Stratt Grace, and the rest of the world. He’s just a chill guy who suddenly found himself privy to global conspiracies but didn't lose his cool over it. He’s literally the "looks like a killer but is actually a cinnamon roll" type. He’s like the "our third" meme, but it’s "my two." Karl can pick them both up at once and "Hehehe, I swiped 'em."
To Grace and Stratt, he’s a calm haven—someone who’ll listen to a sudden brilliant idea with genuine interest, pay for the shopping, remember the Sour Skittles, bring hot coffee, and agree that they’re all idiots. He’s an extraordinarily ordinary person, and in the chaos that saving Earth turns into, he’s simply essential.
He’s just there to remind the saviors of Earth that they’re still human—that it’s time to eat, or "you need to change your t-shirt and get some sleep."
He doesn't have the neurodivergent traits Stratt and Grace do, and looking at the two of them, he thinks, "Thank God for that."
He loves his job because he can surprise people with the contrast between his serious face and powerful physique, and the fact that he’s actually the most harmless person in a room full of evil genius scientists.
I’ve lost the thread here. When the fuck did this post become all about Karl? Oh well, screw it—the man is magnificent. Just let him tuck his Director of Earth and her advisor into bed.
.....and then watch as the woman he loves sends the man he loves into space, with no hope of return.
You know, I just want to read a modern coffee shop slowburn fluff AU about Superbat and scream into my pillow from the cuteness, AND NOT SUDDENLY START DIVING INTO THE LOR OF DS

One day, a photo of Battinson appeared in my feed and at the same time, "Army Dreamers" started playing and my life was never the same again.
Realizing that Dr. Dan Lewis gets to be that role of rival-turned-ally in the narrative of the Venom movies in the place of Peter Parker.
And now I'm imagining an AU where Dan is the Venom-universe's version of Spider-man but he's like completely unaware of this.
Like he got bitten by the super-spider as a teenager but instead of like doing nothing and hoping for the best he goes to the hospital and has the bite treated, and moved on with his life--the experience convincing him to become a doctor.
He never had an occasion to try and climb a building or leap out of the way of a moving car...
He sometimes gets weird headaches though when in dangerous situations but he attributes them to stress.
He can easily lift a grown man (like in the deleted scene where he carries Eddie out of the lobster tank) but he pays it no mind.
But after universe-hopping, Eddie and Venom are realizing some things and unfortunately so are some of "Spider-man's" enemies...
Eddie, waving a literal ladle: GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE
Venom: *the menacing piece of shit that he is*
Spider-Man's enemies: *angry sounds*
Dan, in the background: ....I guess we can sue them all for trespassing?
Anne, unperturbed: in general it’s possible, but not advisable, the guys 'll figure it out without us. Your coffee has boiled over.
*
If Dan had ended up in NWH, he would have offered to give them to Venom and then would have watched in bewilderment as one spider went into hysterics and the others became ignorant.
*
I like to think that thanks to the confusion over the rights to Spider-Man and Venom, their universes are now mutually exclusive. like Dan is a failed Spider-Man and Clutus Cassidy in the MCU tripped and broke his neck as a kid.
Annie: ...Dan eats who knows what at his job, Eddie is always full thanks to Venom eating criminals, and that's why no one, no one, damn it, buys groceries for home! I come home after work and there's beer and hummus in the fridge! And sometimes there are eggs laid by Venom's chickens. This is just awful! Recently we even ran out of fucking coffee and for two days no one bothered to buy it! I live in hell!
