Ok idk the context of your post but...

Adrian had to do something during all that time Rocky was gone. So I like the idea that while Rocky and Grace were out saving their planets, Adrian was doing her own adventure and stumbled onto Simon and they had their own adventure happen (where she had to save Simon and he, too, got a mark. Maybe she burned her own hand so she could cauterize his arm idk...).

Then Rocky and grace get back to home and settle in, Rocky is going "where's mate?" Cuz Adrian is still missing. then a month later or somethn she returns. with Simon. Like, other eridians just think they adopt humans now.

Idk, id wanna write a fic of this but I feel i need to read hail mary first and rewatch iron lung (cuz tbh the story is confusing to me but I still love it).

i want to put my thoughts behind this: this was supposed to be a piece for pride month, titled "you were loved". the sky is the color of the aroace flag (just upside down)!

basically, i wanted to show an aroace person — an old aroace person, to be precise. being aroace myself, i am always told that i will forever be lonely and miserable if i don't get a partner. so showing grace, who is aroace to me, as old and happy and fulfilled and oh so loved by his best friend, was really important to me <3

This is beautiful, as an ace person this means alot, seeing other and older ace people thrive and have people and communities is just.... hope filling.

You know, for all the complaints I see about Garak being "overrated" in DS9 fandom, I actually feel like I see relatively little discussion of Garak outside of the context of Garashir. Shitposts and silly headcanons, sometimes, but not much in the way of serious and lengthy analysis. I'd actually be very interested in seeing more commentary on Garak through the lens of fascism, imperialism, intelligence work and state-sanctioned torture, queerness and masculinity, etc.

I’d eat my hat for more of this kind of thing. That essay I read the other week made my brain go pop. I only do critical-creative these days because trial and error taught me that that’s my mode, but I love to read this kind of thing precisely because it stimulates the creative. (David K Seitz’s section on Garak in A Different Trek is of course gold.)

Oh, I'd just add that speaking for myself, I've come to think over the years that it's precisely the grit or discomfort produced by rubbing the shitposting against the academic work that produces the real pearls for me. What happens if I take seriously some of the things that Garak does on-screen that even the show itself doesn't take seriously (I think of this the "six months for genocide" problem). What exactly is going on when I'm in playful mode and I don't take those things seriously? (Or don't hold them too far to the forefront, since it's been my experience that I'm mostly doing those two things simultaneously.)

Been going between this, violin, and precalc.

Then I wanna write more....

Anyway, any ideas for the next watercolor? Or any tips from what you can see?

postcanon cardassia garashir kid fics always have cardassian or half-cardassian children g&b adopt (or hatch) but i wonder what would garak do with a human baby,,,, walk with me.

his first instinct would be to keep the child warm. in terms of physical contact though... the baby is so soft with basically no ridges for him to know where to pet or caress, making him wonder where he could accidentally hurt them, so he abstains.

just like bashir would be at a disadvantage with a cardassian child due to the alienness of it, the only thing that garak would consider familiar would be that the human baby is, well, plumpy, like babies are. cardassians get really fat when they're toddlers to better absorb heat, but of course this is a newborn, so it's all contradictory and he ends up more lost.

also. a child mirroring a parent's behaviors is one thing, but imagine a human child trying to bask in the sun like a cardassian. bashir would lose his mind trying to make sure the poor thing doesn't get a heat stroke,,

garak would consider this very endearing maybe. so instead of pushing the child away, he'd bask calmly while offering shade to the kid with his own body.

Woke up to some awesome Garak-related things in my inbox! Posting the relevant part of the video here. He left me with more questions than answers, very Garak of him 😂

I guess this really was all a coincidence!! That's nuts 🤯 But I'm glad I asked because, as Garak taught me, coincidences happen everyday, but you should never trust them without investigating! (Crying that I failed at getting him to quote my favorite Garak line lol)

Anyway, "Don't know, don't remember!" is the answer to MOST of the strangely specific questions I've asked the DS9 cast about decades' old projects, so here's one more for the pot! 😅 (Fun fact: The only one to give a definite answer to one of my essay questions so far has been Armin Shimerman!)

Anyone else think the reason ds9 deeply resonates with Queer people is because, at its Heart, its about a third space created but a group of patriotic people fundamentally alienated from their own people. Like obviously garak and quark but consider how were told in the first episode that Kira has been sent there to get her "out of the way" of the civilian government, how the things shes needed to do to both survive and secure their freedom seem deeply uncomfortable to all the civilian leaders. Dax considering both Joran and her eagerness towards reassociation make her basically a non entity on Trill. Bashir takes a while but the augment reveal puts him firmly in this Category. Obriens difficulty with his ptsd and moving passed personal préjudices puts him at odds with a lot of federation ideals. Siskos deep trauma around the loss of his wife and inability to move pass this, makes him very inconvenient to a federation desperate to pass itself off as a Utopia. He then becomes more and more unacceptable as he leans further into his role as in emissary, with the federation seemingly very uncomfortable with this religious expression. Jesus, Worf begins his tenure by getting himself exiled from klingon space.

Like idk, I dont think its all that shocking a Bunch of Queer people most liked the show about having a complicated relationship with your culture and never being allowed to go home.
