maybe i like my tech a little bit inconvenient
maybe i like pulling out my debit card instead of using apple pay. maybe i like untangling my wired headphones. maybe i like typing something into the search bar instead of using siri or whatever. maybe i like curating my own social media feeds over an algorithm. i just don’t think everything has to be perfectly streamlined and efficient i like it when things feel tethered to the real world.
everyone be nice to the living things we share this world with Now. yes this includes bugs and plants that annoy you. no this does not mean you cant hurt anything ever. but it does mean don’t be cruel about it and don’t say mean things about them.
i really like the framing of living things being our relatives. i like framing us as having relationships with them. with mosquitos. with plants we tend to. with the land we can burn. i want to move in the world in a way that helps every living thing thrive. when i collect seeds i leave some, i take some, and i grab some to disperse nearby. i try to avoid walking on plants that do not tolerate disturbance as well. i pick up litter. i disturb the invasive plants to allow the native plants to grow in a little thicker. i swipe at mosquitos that have landed on me cause that is the relationship we are in. they are beautiful and special and important but i will play my role as Monkey That Does Not Want To Be Bit lol
very often i run into people who insist they love nature and its majesty and its beauty but the way they talk about it is so foreign to how i think and feel about the earth. they own the land. they travel to spectate. they anthropomorphize animals instead of being curious about how they actually live and feel. they speak with disdain about plants and animals that are inconvenient or unpleasant to them. it hurts to see.

Fascinating how what's considered feminine and what's considered masculine can change over time. The rebranding of being a horse girl into being a stereotypical feminine girly trait needs to be studied.
Look at classic children's novels. As recently as the 50s and early 60s, being obsessed with horses as a girl was depicted as strange and tomboyish, and the very concept of being obsessed with horses from early childhood and loving toy horses and desperately wanting your own horse being a "little girl thing" and not a "little boy thing" would send someone from the 1800s and earlier into a coma.
There's maybe a point to be made here somewhere about how when keeping and riding horses stopped being necessary to the functioning of society and became a more "frivolous" thing, it was rapidly rebranded as silly and girly and for women, but what do I know.
i wrote a paper in my masculinity studies class in college about this exact phenomenon, specifically about how high heeled shoes started as a practical way for Persian cavalry to keep their feet on their stirrups, then likely due to that association, became a popular fashion item and status symbol among the upper classes of Europe, before the Great Male Renunciation of the 18th-19th centuries, when men started shunning opulence in favor of utility, leaving them as a fashion item for women instead.
I've joked that the two genders are Aesthetic and Utility before but thats just kinda the case

idk man sometimes i like it when video game writers are allowed to plan a series of events that happen in a specific order and affect each other in turn to become an overarching narrative, and i don’t mind trusting those writers to take me through those events in the order that is emotionally effective. i don’t really care if a game forces me to go through the forest area first before i can attempt the icy area because maybe there’s things that happen in the forest area that inform later scenes in the icy area. maybe we don't need more superficial player choice open world concepts if it comes at the cost of the ability to write a story with actual significant plot events and character development in each section
