Percy realising he wasn't just a mistake, a burden, a weapon, but a product of love between his parents. He was never a mistake, he was love.

It's all about Thalia.

The Furies intervention. Kronos' plot to "raise his champion." Annabeth's kidnapping. Y'all. It's all about Thalia.

We know in The Titan's Curse, Thalia is more susceptible to Kronos' narrative. She struggles with the choice Percy adamantly rejects. But this new shift at the end of The Sea of Monsters changes everything. I mean everything.

Luke doesn't kidnap Annabeth to lure Percy, he's taken Annabeth because he knows Thalia will riot. He's drawing her to Mount Othrys on the verge of her 16th birthday in hopes to kickstart the war. This book is woman-led. Percy has no business being on the quest in the first place (leading to him sneakily following because he's...well, Percy and this is Annabeth we're talking about). But because of Percy's POV (king of unreliable narration), the impact of these choices and implications were minimized in the books. We don't see the full effects of Kronos' manipulation. We don't see the whole picture.

Speaking of — never ends well when one attempts to control a prophecy. Kronos' fatal flaw, anyone?

Thalia's fierce loyalty to Annabeth will be center stage in this next season. Leah teased a backstory arc for Annabeth, leading me to believe we'll get more of her history with her mother and more of the friendship between her and Thalia and Luke. Every choice is made with friends in mind. Every decision. Every misstep. Every accidental(?) misjudgment.

Percy is already written off. But the trap set by Luke? 100% for Thalia.

I'm sorry but the way annabeth's eyes dart around before she leads percy onto the dance floor, like she's panicking studying the other dancers (she didn't grow up in the mortal world! she doesn't know what they're supposed to do!)

and the way she wipes her hands on her dress before grabbing his hand!!! probably because her own hands are sweaty, because she's about to dance with her crush, who is also her best friend, & they are 14 years old!!!

Okay, but where is Annabeth's cap?

✨SPOILERS AHEAD✨

Not me, diving into this rabbit hole. Since its disappearance — and lack of reappearance — during s2, this is no longer a minor shift in canon but a full-on plot device with the weight of...well, the sky (potentially).

I'm so curious how they'll treat its reemergence. If Luke will somehow use it to manipulate Annabeth into taking the burden of the Titan's Curse. If Luke will take advantage of it's power in an attempt to fulfill Kronos' demand at the end of s2 ep7, ensuring Thalia's position as the child of the prophecy and as Kronos' champion (hello other brilliant plot deviation). Or perhaps it'll be exactly what it needs to be, a potential anchor keeping Luke tethered to his humanity (you can't tell me this hasn't all been about Annabeth).

Perhaps it'll be all three. With invisibility at hand, Luke can do a lot of damage quickly. Instead of it being a major advantage for Percy throughout The Titan's Curse, I can see it being a significant weakness used against Percy and his friends as they quest to save Annabeth Artemis. Regardless of the timing of its retrieval, I have a feeling we'll see the full consequence of Percy's mistake unfold in s3.

My theory: Either Percy will swipe it at the Smithsonian after a fight with Luke, or we won't see the completion of the cap's "missing arc" until the tail end of s3 after Luke uses Percy's fatal flaw to lure him into a trap (again).

I fully expect it to be a vital detail in some form or another. Possibly bloody, but only time will tell. Can't wait to see what season 3 brings! (Hopefully a verbal confirmation for seasons 4 & 5, if not before.)

The way Charlie genuinely had me a bit scared during this scene. Give him every award.

Also this is the first time we've seen Luke genuinely lose it. Like 20 hits in a minute is absolute rage. I feel like he's been trying his best to hold control all season long and he's now at the point where he just can't.

And it all comes back to Annabeth always. Her "betrayal" in favor of Percy is absolutely what drove him to finally snap. Just like her being kidnapped drove Percy to snap. She is the center of both of their universes.

I really liked this scene where it looked like Dionysus was slacking off, but then the camera zooms out, and you can very clearly see that he's distracting the younger kids and keeping them away from the fights
