ITS BACK
She-ra
wait until They see this
I love that, since this video came out, we now have the added context that this was during his Year Of Halo
so i'm in this backyard chickens group on reddit and someone just discovered their hen is transitioning and everyone is stoked
anyway in case you didn't know chickens will sometimes spontaneously f2m and it's pretty cool
good news for weird little critter enthusiasts
(me included)
GOLDEN MOLE POST SPOTTED
Made this for u 💝
Don't hide this in the tags @voluptatiscausa
I got to hold a 500,000 year old hand axe at the museum today.
It's right-handed
I am right-handed
There are grooves for the thumb and knuckle to grip that fit my hand perfectly
I have calluses there from holding my stylus and pencils and the gardening tools.
There are sharper and blunter parts of the edge, for different types of cutting, as well as a point for piercing.
I know exactly how to use this to butcher a carcass.
A homo erectus made it
Some ancestor of mine, three species ago, made a tool that fits my hand perfectly, and that I still know how to use.
Who were you
A man? A woman? Did you even use those words?
Did you craft alone or were you with friends? Did you sing while you worked?
Did you find this stone yourself, or did you trade for it? Was it a gift?
Did you make it for yourself, or someone else, or does the distinction of personal property not really apply here?
Who were you?
What would you think today, seeing your descendant hold your tool and sob because it fits her hands as well?
What about your other descendant, the docent and caretaker of your tool, holding her hands under it the way you hold your hands under your baby's head when a stranger holds them.
Is it bizarre to you, that your most utilitarian object is now revered as holy?
Or has it always been divine?
Or is the divine in how I am watching videos on how to knap stone made by your other descendants, learning by example the way you did?
Tomorrow morning I am going to the local riverbed in search of the appropriate stones, and I will follow your example.
The first blood spilled on it will almost certainly be my own, as I learn the textures and rhythm of how it's done.
Did you have cuss words back then? Gods to blaspheme when the rock slips and you almost take your thumbnail off instead? Or did you just scream?
I'm not religious.
But if spilling my own blood to connect with a stranger who shared it isn't partaking in the divine
I don't know what is.
(Source) (highly recommend watching)
feeling stupid as hell because I somehow only just now realized that the companion cube is to chel what chel is to glados. like as far as being an object, a research tool, something towards which an emotional attachment is ridiculous but also inevitable. something that you know you'll have to throw in the incinerator later and which never says a word to you, and yet you can't help yourself from falling in a strange kind of love. damn this game gay
normally id put this in tags but fucking. the bit in portal 2 about the companion cube. where she taunts you with it again. a return of something that might have affection or compassion for you, but you cant be sure. a surprise reunion.
she taunts you with companion cubes that are out of reach but keep getting destroyed by her. upset about how close you were to finding that connection again. she even talks about how maybe one couldve talked. but we'll never know now because it's gone. and the fact that she gives you the ORIGINAL beat-up companion cube, still just fine (if burnt), when you finally leave the facility for good at the end.
Fucking.
the lesbian undertones are suffocating
I know her tumblr would be fire
One of my sister's friends posted something about her attic being creepy and it ended up getting 50k notes as everyone argued about why it was creepy, whether it was real, and if it was actually just perfectly reasonable.
Candace would have dozens of posts like that with her describing some crazy shenanigans of her brothers and a couple weirdly out of focus pics attached.
They'd blow up initially with people scoffing about how dumb it is but then someone pipes up with "oh yeah the rocket race around the world was crazy when they came through our town". And suddenly other people are adding their own photos or reblogs.
Sadly when Candice thinks she has proof and shows her mom, Tumblr's search function tells her they can't find any records of her own post.
important addition
Sun Tzu is so fucking funny to me because for his time he was legitimately a brilliant tactician but a bunch of his insight is shit like "if you think you might lose, avoid doing that", "being outnumbered is bad generally", and "consider lying."
My personal favourite is his lengthy lecture on the subject of Supplies Being Very Important I Cannot Stress Enough The Importance Of Protecting Your Supply Lines But Also Supply Lines Are Expensive As Shit So Steal The Enemy’s Supplies At Every Opportunity.
via- @elidyce
One of the more important things to consider about any historical work is the audience it was published for. The Art Of War was aimed at fancy nobles high on philosophy with little practical military experience who were nonetheless leading armies.
Sun Tzu, after desperatly trying to explain extremely basic logic to a bunch of upper-class twits, basically sat down and wrote the most elaborate "As per my last email" ever
the art of war is tedious and irritating when you read it as like, immortal prose by the most brilliant man ever to kick ass. but it’s incredibly fucking funny when you realize that sun tzu had to write every single one of those entries because someone somewhere did not know this ahead of time and made a really, really expensive oopsie doodles.

Wouldn’t leave my mind sorry
me: “yeah I dated a guy in high school who came out as gay. it was before i knew i was a boy so needless to say it didn’t work out”
coworker: “damn dude was preordering”
other things this coworker (who is a cis guy) has done/said:
—got confused about why I’d never been a boy scout because he forgot i was trans
—told me he was gonna get top surgery scar tattoos to match me after i get mine
—laughs at all my trans jokes, even if they’re supremely unfunny
—calls me big dog (and him little dog) even though he is about as tall as two of me
— “I can’t believe she would say that transphobic thing to you. In June? Pride month?”
Once I said "My gender is whatever's funniest at the time" and my coworker stops dead in his tracks, turns slowly and says "So are your pronouns honk/honk?" killing me instantly
