vader did not fully believe in the empire, he was loyal to people, not principles, he was high on the dark side at mustafar and wanted to kill palpatine to make padme empress and be her guard dog, he strangled padme not because she 'threatened his political ambitions', but because he thought she had brought obi-wan to kill him, thus betraying him and lying about still loving him

OP I love you, can you draw Obi-Wan as the really red in the face hyper embarassed woman please pleaseeee!!!
@space-blue you got me, I just gave up last night but this was the plan all along
I read many people being unable to comprehend why Padme and Anakin would fall in love with each other, constantly saying that they have no chemistry and so on and saying things like "Padme can do better":
-First: They are not meant to have chemistry, that's the point: They are two young adults who led extremely sheltered lives and have little to no experience in the ways of romance. What Anidala is actually meant to be is a deconstruction of the star-crossed lovers romance.
-Second: You have to look at their circumstances; Padme was a person who was forced to grow up too fast, being involved in politics since she was 14 years old. She had to keep her guard up and read between the lines constantly because all who got close to her always wanted something from her; power, influence....but they never actually cared for her as a person. She may be more composed about it, but she is extremely tired of being constantly dehumanized; Everyone sees Senator Amidala and Queen Amidala, but no one cares for Padme.
Now, enter Anakin; Anakin is sincere, honest and wears his emotions on his sleeve, not caring much about the consequences of what he says, something that both throws Padme off and finds refreshing because she is not accustomed to deal with honest people, yet for the first time in her life, someone cares for Padme. Not for Senator Amidala or Queen Amidala. Padme.
And Anakin understands her in a way no one else can: He also grew up on a dehumanizing environment, first as a slave and then as a Jedi being constantly told to repress his emotions and treated as an outcast, yet he was hailed as the Chosen One. Everyone saw the slave or the Chosen One, but no one cares for Anakin. Similarly to Anakin doing with Padme, she was the first one who saw Anakin. Not the slave or the Chosen One. Anakin.
At heart and despite its tragedy, Anidala is about two dehumanized people finding on each other the love and care their environments can't or won't give them.

THEM
do you think it’s possible to have a version of touch-starvedness in the force? Do you think Vader longs for Ahsoka and Obi-Wan and even the Jedi? Do you think it’s another fundamental part of social interaction that he’s missing? Do you think he’s so, so desperately lonely, and this is one more barrier?
Do you think Obi-Wan and Anakin were soulmates in the not romantic way? Do you think they were so intertwined when they ripped apart it was gorey and bloody and they took pieces of each other with them but all those pieces did was slowly rot and die? Do you think no matter how many friends and family they made nothing would ever fill the gaping hole? Do you think they were two halves of one whole and even if they had eternity to heal they’d never be fully whole again? Do you think late into the night, unable to sleep, delirious from pain, Vader calls out to Obi-Wan? Do you think late at night, unwilling to sleep, gasping from pain, Obi-Wan desperately wants to respond, but that’s not Anakin. That’s Vader.
how many years do you think it took Obi-Wan to come to terms with the fact that there’s no Anakin, no Vader, only his brother and whatever name he chooses.
Good morning I guess
giulio sabbadin is a cynic. if there's one thing he can count on, its the depths of sin the human soul can devolve into. so when he first meets aldo bellini, cold, aloof and perfect, so far above gossip and intrigue and politics, giulio feels this need to rip off that impossible marble mask that he's wearing and expose the rot he's sure to find underneath.
he scoffs at the pelican in aldo's pectoral cross. rolls his eyes at the idea that aldo fancies himself to be a savior that will provide for the needy.
he finds no opening, of course. aldo is his superior here in the diocese of milan. and that mask of his is impeccable. he feels his hand twitch, fighting against the impulse to try to reveal what's underneath that mask but does nothing. instead he opts to cop around his pockets and search for his pack of cigarettes.
it doesn't matter; time will always reveal the ugly sides of a person regardless if he does his digging to find dirt on aldo. and what time does reveal is that aldo can't help but be himself. reveals his beliefs that are borderline heresy. shows his fangs in intellectual debates with giulio. doesnt back down even if his beliefs ostracized him from the rest of the church. (giulio finds it amusing to note that aldo being hardheaded doesn't necessarily mean he can convince the Catholic church to budge). they don't agree on a lot of things but it showed a bit of a person instead of a Robot Prayer Dispenser. giulio finds that he likes him. very much. teaches him how to navigate politics and how to temper himself so as not to reveal all of his cards and how to stop wearing his convictions so openly so as not to give ammunition to his enemies.
lately, giulio doesn't obsess as much over finding out the rot on aldos soul but sometimes he still feels that impulse. he reaches for another cigarette.
giulio gets his wish one day when aldo comes to him, troubled. he sinks to his knees asking giulio to hear his confession—he is the only one he could trust with this. it should have given giulio some sense of satisfaction, that finally this seemingly perfect man has actual sins to confess to but seeing aldo this distraught just fills him with dread. aldo confesses with great shame, of his love desires of his dear friend thomas, of the cancer diagnosis. his own commitment to his oaths wavering on the face of it. how it feels a now or never for him. thomas may not have much time but he knows what he feels is a sin. that abandoning his oath to pursue his own selfishness is a sin.
giulio listens on to his ramblings. aldo almost on the verge of tears. the rot had finally revealed itself but giulio finds no sense of triumph in finally uncovering it. suddenly it all makes sense to him. that perfect mask is not meant to deceive. it's to make up for the fact that aldo is, despite all his best efforts, himself.
right now, at this moment, aldo looks so painfully human. under normal circumstances, being human would have earned giulio's scorn. after all, you can count on humans to trip over their own, well, humanness. the politician in giulio can always count on that and use it to his own advantage. with aldos confession, giulio finds himself unable to cling to his cynicism.
right now, as aldo confesses his own shortcomings, his own doubts and fears, giulio feels nothing but an almost unbearable warmth in his chest. giulio gathers the man in front of him into his arms, letting him cry on his shoulders.
he says nothing
internally, he thanks god for having met one aldo bellini.
People can handle evil characters(for the most part--usually they twist their behavior and water it down) but people really can't handle good characters that lose their head or lose themselves and have a moment of fallen grace. Fandom has shown this time and time again. They really look at them as worse than the initial evil.
related but tangential. there's a really strong unexamined belief throughout a lot of fandom -- and population outside of fandom, but we're talking about fandom here -- that what you do and say during your worst moments is who you really are.
And the assumptions underlying this, more or less, break down to:
Everybody is secretly bad deep down. They're born that way (no, this is not original sin, wdym, it's just an Honest and Realistic assessment of human nature!) and have to be taught to cover it up through childhood with facades of politeness. Everybody is lying all the time by pretending to be better or nicer than they really are, and this facade takes active effort to maintain. When the effort drops and the facade slips, the true underlying rottenness shows through.
All actions taken are rational and reasoned, at all times. Lying is always a deliberate, purposeful action meant to advance a person's aims and goals. There is never any reason to lie except to make yourself look good. Therefore, any good or nice statement or action may be a lie, but any bad or harmful statement or action must be true.
Ergo: anything a person (or a character) says or does when in states of emotional extremity, overwhelming grief, incapacitating pain, exhaustion, illness, head injury, is Peeling Back the Facade of Goodness to reveal the True Rottenness Underneath. So not only are you actually as evil as the evil character, you're also a liar.
This is, of course, utter nonsense. But an amazing number of people seem to believe it.
Literally what happened to my princess Aldo
Sith Lord Tarkin | The Beast of The Carrion Sufficed to say if this was real, the galaxy would be so fucked.
Star Wars really said "Anakin Skywalker had issues rooted in childhood trauma that was not his fault" but also "Anakin made his own choices as an adult for which he alone is responsible" but ALSO "In spite of the truly evil things he chose to do Anakin was still capable of being loved and redeemed" and I think that's important.
Not my white ass locked in the duke’s dungeon again because I fucked his favorite jester 😩
I didn’t know he was so territorial over the silly little guy 🙄
Pro Tip: Avoid this in the future by inviting the king to your chambers and presenting the situation as;
" Just warming him up for a surprise threesome. You looked so stressed, sire, so let us help you relax."
The Duke would, at best, be the fourth
The Duke’s wife is the third from time to time, and I feel like he’s not gonna be happy about that
And most importantly, the Duke is a fuck boi, he’s not invited
Ah, but I said the king, my good wizard!
If you get the king in on this, the duke can do nothing without risking insulting his monarch.
This could not possibly backfire!
In fact, I'll go perform this right now and report back my success shortly.
Dungeon
Welcome to the club
surely the duke can’t catch all of us????
Gonna try hitting up the jester when the duke goes out for another raid and report with results 👍
Dungeon.
Wow. I don't respect anyone in this thread.
feels like somebody’s mad they didn’t get the chance to fuck the duke’s favorite jester
Make a pass at the jester and there’s always a chance
That you’ll be be doing that old “chained in the dungeon” dance
I was inspired
