Anything But Dumbo

Now that I have my program dates (Jan 25- May 19) I’ve started to think a lot about my role of attraction and where I would love to be placed… and all I have to say about this is….. please don’t put me on Dumbo… that’s all I ask in life, I’m not a picky person but if I could avoid the Dumbo’s I will be a happy camper… also while we are at it, maybe avoid barnstormers as well. I know what you are thinking, I should be happy no matter where they put me, and believe me I will be, it’s just those two rides are just like the rides I’ve been operating at the amusement park I work at for the past 6 months and I would love a change of pace! So now that you know the 2 rides I don’t want, here’s a list of my top 5 dream attractions!

1.       Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor- Although some people may not agree with me, I think I’m a pretty funny person, and would fit in well! That and on Saturday when I was checking a little kid’s (about 5 years old) restraint he told me that I scared him because I looked like a monster… so my grotesque looks would fit in to the theme of the attraction…

2.       Jungle Cruise- Let me just begin with I’m a little klutzy so standing up in a boat might prove to be a challenge, but idk Skipper Kyli has a ring to it!

3.       Pirates of the Caribbean-  Drink up me Hearties Yoho, Hey why are pirates called pirates?? Because they RRRRRRRRRR! 

4.       Ellens Energy Adventure- Ellen DeGeneres and Bill Nye the science guy, do I need to say anything else?

5.       Space Moutain- This was my favorite ride when I went to Disney, so I do think it would be pretty cool to work here.

Now although these are the attractions I would love to work at I know I have to be realistic, and realize I will most likely get placed at Small World. During my interview I was asked what my favorite attraction was, and my mind completely blanked, and for some reason I said it was Small World, because the song was catchy….. I’ve never even been on Small World, but it’s the only ride I could think of at the time…. Oops.

Is this real life?

So it turns out, the third times the charm!!! I made it into DCP Spring 2016 for attractions!! I'm pumped. This was a shock to me seeing how I thought I did so bad on my interview I even forgot I applied until the congratulations email popped up in my email! I'm so ready for my next adventure in life! But now I have to make friends 🙀 and I'm not sure if I know how to people?!

Journey Over.

Well I just got the email that everyone dreads, NLIC :( but oh well I still have 4 more chances to try again. Spring 2016 here I come! I just wish I knew what I could do better next time around :/

Hey I am glad to see other people that are in the same boat as me :) I applied the first day and have been waiting 7 weeks tomorrow (since my phone interview) without a singe word from Disney. I am just trying so hard to be patient and not lose hope!! Good luck and I hope we both hear back soon!

I know how you feel, I always feel better knowing I'm not the only one waiting this long, but I feel like if they didn't want us they would of NLICd us already, and we both survived the giant wave of them last night! So let's just hope no news is good news! They're obviously just saving the best for last! Good luck!

This is the wait that never ends.

Do you guys know that song that never ends, it just goes on and on my friends? Yeah well that song defines how this wait feels! Call me over dramatic if you must, but I feel as if I'm going to die of old age by the time I find out. For those of you who don't know, this week coming up will mark my 8th week anniversary of my phone interview, and for awhile it got easier, but something hit me today, that had me obsessing over my dashboard all over again. The good news is it's the end of March and apps have officially closed so I should have my answer soon! I've already made plans with other DCPers for when we arrive, now all I need is a little Disney magic to make my wish come true!

About that first wave...

Soooooo remember when I said I wouldn’t be as on edge when the first wave came out?? Yeah I lied… I’ve been obsessing more than ever! Every time I see someone post an acceptance I start checking my email every 5 minutes! So as you can guess I have not yet been accepted but, it’s only been three days, I’ve got 2 more months ahead of me, so fingers crossed!

3 weeks and counting

This week will mark my 3 week anniversary since my phone interview and since apps went out, and it’s been a long 3 weeks! Many people believe that the first wave of acceptances will come out this week, and I hope that they’re right!! Even if I’m not in the first wave it will be exciting to know it’s started!! For everyone who’s still waiting for their interviews good luck and I’m sure you’ll do great! Also it’s two days after valentines day so all the disney themed chocolate hearts are 75% off, today’s the real holiday… Not the 14th.

It's been a little over a week since my phone interview, and if I've learned one thing, I'm not a fan of waiting! Disney is starting to take over my life! I'm at that point where it's all I talk about, and I can tell my family just wants me to shut up, you know by their subtle hints like when they say "shut up Kyli!" So in honor of my 1 week wait, here's a photo of my first and only time at Disney world!!!

Get'er done!

Hey, Hey, Hey! In my previous post I talked about waiting for the second day of apps to apply, well that plan went out the door two hours after apps dropped… Oops. Well now that you know I applied I’m sure you’re all curious on how I did right? Well I’m happy to announce that about 30 minutes after I applied I was able to schedule my phone interview! This was a great sigh of relief seeing how last semester I was in submission for over a month before receiving my WBI. So my PI is going to be Thursday at 1:00 and I’m sooooo pumped, and nervous so I’m going to spend my snow day/days practicing! I hope you all have just as much luck with your applications!!

May the Odds be Ever in Your Favor.

Good morning people of tumblr!! Its now 7:30 am on Monday January 26 and the sun is not shining, it's kinda brisk out oh and did I mention APPS COME OUT IN LIKE AN HOUR!!!! In case you couldn't tell I'm a little excited, but just a little. Now for the big decision, should I fill it out today or some other time?? I might wait until tomorrow or the next day seeing how I'm going to be snowed in for awhile and it will give me something to do! As one last application tip just remember to write down as much of your work experience and volunteer work as possible! Last season I didn't think it was that important so I only wrote about 2 of my jobs and none of my volunteer experience, hmmm and I wonder why I was stuck in submission for over a month. This time will be different I'm going all the way back to the paper route I had in 4th grade! It's time to kill it, good luck everyone, and may the odds be ever in your favor.

Dashboard Addict Anonymous

With apps dropping in 3 days I feel like I need to share a little something about myself, hi my names Kyli and I'm a Dashboard Addict. It's pretty embarrassing to admit but last recruiting season I would log in to my dashboard about 4 times a day.... No matter how many times I logged in nothing happened that an email wouldn't tell me first. Now that I've had a two month Disney dashboard detox, I'm going to try to limit myself to once a week. Let's see how long that will last... Also APPS COME OUT IN 3 DAYS! That's some exciting stuff right there!! I have a job interview the same day and I think I'm more nervous for the apps than the interview....

So are you like going to be a princess?

When telling people you’re applying for the DCP you are going to receive the same questions over and over again, so I’m going to take some time to address three of the most common questions.

1. No I’m not going to be a princess…. Besides for the fact I can’t take a picture without making a complete derp face, I’m too tall for all but one of the princesses height requirements… And something tells me I can’t play Tiana, you know based on the fact I’m whiter than white… Also how many princesses do you know that have a Boston accent?

2. Oh so you must really like Disney? No… I completely hate it… I’m only doing this to corrupt the company from within. But seriously what gave you the hint? Was it my Stitch USB drive? Or the fact that I’m currently singing be our guest? You’re really observant!

3. Are you going to live there? Umm probably not, I think I might just drive 12 hours to Florida everyday. (In case you can’t tell I can be kind of sarcastic… Only a little bit though :P)

To my fellow DCP hopefuls don’t be surprised when you start hearing these questions, also don’t be scarred of my above sassiness I promise you I’m a nice person! :D

Yes you can be overly prepared for your interview, and I think that's where I went wrong! Last recruiting season when I found out I received a phone interview I sat on the internet looking up questions that past recruits have received, and wrote them all down on flash cards with my answers, seems like a great idea right? Wrong! To me that's what messed up my interview, I spent so long looking over my answers and at the end I sounded kind of animatronic reading word from word. This season I plan on changing it up and going in with little to no notes, and I would encourage you all to do the same, after all the best answers are ones that come from the heart!! <3

Almost There!

Ahhhhhh the applications for DCP fall 2015 are just weeks away, and the excitement just hit me! So instead of going to bed I'm writing a post on Tumblr.... For a blog.... That no one follows... So yeah I'm just going to talk to myself no biggy!! Anyways apps are coming out soon which is both exciting and nerve wracking! In one hand it brings me one step closer to my dream, on the other it brings me one step closer to my dream being crushed again:( but hey that's no way of thinking!! So now that apps are about to come out, this week I'm going to review what went wrong last application period and try to fix it for the next one! And of course sharing all my finding on here! Wish me luck!!! And if there are any other Fall 2015 hopefuls out there, I would love to talk to you!!!
