it’s always “give yuki a gun” “give lewis a gun” and never “acknowledge and address the blatant racism in the sport in a meaningful way”
mad how for 5 years i’ve watched a white dutch man incite racism against lewis, refuse to speak on it and weaponise his own whiteness by claiming the british media are racist against the dutch. drop a car on lewis’s head and walk away. say outright how he planned on crashing into lewis and others. get away with brake testing. get away with his team’s cost cap breakage. get handed a world championship stolen from lewis and act like he deserves it. be handed every single thing he’s gotten on a silver spoon. and i’ve had to watch everyone gagging over it instead of calling it out. and the closest we got to righteousness were a couple of comments about lewis being an 8 time wdc and those fucking losers boycotted the media and so they bent over backwards for them. i’m blowing this place up
the fact that in the big year of 2025 this discourse is still going strong really says a lot imo. you can google any f1 driver's name and find out what business ventures they have got going alongside f1 and yet no one's writing articles about how it distracts them. this was going on even when lewis was winning everything, and it's still going on now when he's not. it's so insidious, too, because:
either they mean he's not doing well at ferrari because his ventures keep him distracted, which deflects from the ferrari being ass and puts the blame on lewis
or it rankles them that a lot of his off-track ventures focus on diversity and education and this bothers them immensely esp when compared to the white guys and their alcohol or coffee or clothing or what-have-you ventures that don't upset the status quo of this white-ass sport
either way it's disgusting that publications like motorsport.com see fit to publish this shit just to put even more of a negative spotlight on lewis, when by every objective measure his off-track ventures are putting out more good into the world. using lewis's name for clicks while also platforming old, tired discourse is such a stupid strategy and you can't tell me these "journalists" don't know the bullshit they peddle when they do this.
Do you have any other reason to hate on Max? Genuine question and don't give me the Franz Hermann bs because it's been confirmed by many sources that the organisers there ASKED him for an authentic german name. What would he have gotten out of naming himself after a Nazi Police figure? Also not to mention he didn't initially come up with it there was another person there who recommended the name when he heard what Max was trying to do. Also don't mention the whole racist thing with his FIL because he SAID it wasn't right and also how he would never condone racism etc.
(This is all coming from someone who's favourite driver is Lewis since 2018)
i have several reasons to hate on max, actually! a major one being people like you who excuse everything he does and add a lil "i like lewis" disclaimer at the end :)
"what would he have gotten out of naming himself after a nazi police figure" bro idk you tell me? i don't claim to know the inner workings of his mind. at best it's an idiotic name chosen by an idiot who doesn't know how to use google, at worst it's a nazi dogwhistle, and neither option reflects well on max.
"it wasn't right but nelson isn't a racist" in what world is someone using homophobic and racist language not a racist??
he is racist. period, full stop. he can say all he wants that he doesn't condone racism but the way he and his team treated lewis says more than enough. might i remind you he didn't take the knee either.
the way he races lewis harder than he does others even when they're not fighting also adds to the evidence of him being racist.
he's used slurs and doubled down on his choices when an entire nation called him out. another source. and another one!
stood by horner during the sexual harassment case and told him to punch any reporter that asked him about it
when asked the best thing he bought with his money, he responded "my girlfriend" but i know none of you actually take misogyny seriously lol
throws a tantrum when booed but when lewis is booed "he should close his ears and not listen"
the fact that he literally can't drive wheel to wheel and would rather kill an opponent than let them pass aka he cannot drive clean no matter what
the tantrum on the radio in brazil 2022 when the team asked him to let checo pass even tho he'd already won the championship and letting checo past would've benefited the team as a whole, he had nothing to lose
dating a fascist and defending her and her fucked up family
blew silverstone 2021 insanely out of proportion and did not respond to lewis's attempts to make amends, which led to a whole slew of racist abuse against lewis
monza 2021. "that's what you get" after nearly killing lewis
assaulted esteban ocon and had to do community service for it.
in fact he threatens to assault people quite a lot
fucked up another sim racer's drive out of pettiness and because that's the only way he knows how to drive
got rightfully penalized for trying to kill lando and insisted it's bc he has the wrong passport for f1. read that again. the dutch passport is the 3rd strongest in the world and f1 always favors white european men. he's an idiot with too much audacity and not enough sense.
doesn't actually enjoy racing lol why is he even here
abu dhabi 2022 during quali when he was about to go turn into lewis on purpose and his engineer had to calm him down
he's clearly ok with his stolen championship and how things went down in abu dhabi 2021, proving he has the integrity of a soggy teabag dipped one too many times in lukewarm water
EDIT TO ADD: that one time all the drivers were really shaken up after romain grosjean's horrifying crash in bahrain and max said "we're not sissies" to defend himself when lewis called him out for being callous
EDIT TO ADD AGAIN: that one time he said someone would have to be really stupid to crash into a recovery vehicle during the rain. here's the wikipedia page for jules bianchi for no specific reason :)))))
and finally, his fans who come into my inbox demanding i explain why i don't like this absolute necrotic testicle of a man, as if they too don't know how to google things
Just some more peer reviewed, documented additions to his wrap sheet @russilton
What @russilton said, again:
2021... The way POC Lewis fans talk about the traumatic experience of 2021 and the racist climate perpetuated by Red Bull, Verstappen and F1 institution is essential, ESSENTIAL context. The "WE RACE AS ONE 🌈👊🏿" 2020 season was immediately followed by a violent jolt to the anti-woke right. Experiencing the 2021 season for POC fans transcended being just a fan of Lewis - it became ride or die, personal, part of your own identity, you were the team, it was your own success you were all together working towards, even the social media team - also clearly POC - had got your back - fiercely, freely, authentically, with heart and soul towards one goal. QuickStopF1 did a great episode on that.
The team was the fans' shield from the heavy racism towards Lewis, towards themselves as POC - from the 'Great White Hope' of Verstappen, supported by the conservative, white bigots seething against the threateningly 'woke' activist black driver and his POC fans - Mosley, Ecclestone, Marko, the Piranha Club hated that.
((And then, the absolute betrayal and injustice of AD 2021 by the institution, the media, the silence of the pundits, the drivers, and worst of all, their perceived ride or die team Mercedes. Traumatic.))
Verstappen always was and still is aligned with the conservative institutional and public sentiments and remained unpunished for his numerous incidents on track as well as off track with impunity.
also he and his dad are friendly with (and they probably vote for) Geert Wilders who is the leader of PVV party in the Netherlands. Among other things, he wants to ban Islam and stop immigration so yeah he’s a fun guy for a totally not racist max verstappen to be cool with
and i hope people understand that lewis isn’t trying to speak italian because he was “advised” to, or to “earn the love and respect of the tifosi/ferrari,” or even because it’s necessary (idk why people keep forgetting that ferrari’s last wdc didn’t speak italian), but simply because he wants to. the same grandchildren of enzo who spent all of last year telling us that lewis isn’t ferrari enough are now mocking him for trying to speak their language—because, let’s be real, it was never about speaking Italian.
and nico rosberg didn’t teach lewis those italian phrases, please shut the fuck up!! i promise you, you wouldn’t die if you don’t attach a white man to lewis.
Soon 👀 @lewishamilton reunites with three of his most important Mercedes F1 cars with @petronasmotorsports 💚

"I’m deeply saddened to hear that Mary McGee, the first woman to road race motorcycles in the U.S and the first person to solo the Baja 500 has passed on. My condolences to her family and everyone who she’s inspired. Her legacy will live on as a trailblazer in the world of Motorsports and beyond. I had the honour to meet Mary and help support a short documentary about her incredible journey. Her grit and unshakable determination will continue to inspire me, always. Q: About Drivers' meeting with stewards and Lewis' reaction to F1's DEI Charter with the help of Hamilton Commission and Mission 44
LH: Firstly, I appreciate that. I'll answer this too. So, the meeting with the stewards was really, really productive. It's the first time we've really sat down and had a real, clear, open discussion with the stewards, who have such a difficult job to do over the weekend. Every overtake and every scenario is so different to the others. Nothing is gonna change for these two races but for next year we'll work on a process hopefully, we welcome having more conversations with them moving forward 'cause we really want to help them do a better job and they've welcomed that.
And yea (about the charter), honestly, so so proud and grateful to FOM, to F1 who really pushed to make sure that this got across the line. Obviously, it's been three years in the making, trying to push the sport in that right, in that positive direction and it's been already great to see F1 has started to invite kids and creating opportunities. I'm really grateful to all the teams signing on and the FIA. I didn't know when or if it was gonna happen so it makes me really proud to know that the work we've done wasn't a waste. We'll work closely with them, and I'll continue to work closely with F1 and the FIA over the following years to just make sure that we continue to move in the right direction. Creating opportunities for people, doesn't matter where you're from what you look like, I think that's really key.

I often think about how Lewis said he personally called so many drivers in 2020 and personally asked them to kneel for BLM. I think about how he said he personally tried to explain the protest to them and answer all their questions. I think about how he felt when so many of them still declined. I think about how he was fined for wearing shirts for BLM. I think about how F1 stopped him from wearing a shirt that simply said "Justice for Breonna Taylor." because F1 wanted to 'de-politicise' the sport. I think about how when they asked Stefano Domenicali, the CEO of F1, about Lewis' activism, he said F1 is not racist and he does not "Percieve" the racism Lewis is talking about.
I think about how Nelson Piquet, who was fined $1 million for racially abusing Lewis on video was *banned* from the paddock. I think about how he just showed up to the paddock today clearly wearing a paddock pass and hanging out outside of Red Bull, not even hiding inside.
I think how this is all so symptomatic of how rotten to the core F1 is. How Lewis being the most successful driver in the history of the sport did not spare him from this.
Not gonna say anything but I'm thinking it extremely loudly

i wouldn't say crying something came in my eye *laughs* that's an emotional one. yea, it's been a long long time, and him and i have been working hard trying to get back there and yea, baby steps, but it's taken a lot of him so far... you know when it comes down to the wire, yea, he's the one that's gonna manage the tyres and get you to the end... as soon as i get told to "shut up" i know that the game's on! - Bono
