The very first photoshoot that my beautiful husband and I did, took place on 21st July, 2014. It's hard to believe it's already over 4 years ago - it feels as if it was only yesterday! Above is one of the photos from that shoot. It's still one of our all time favourites! <3

Last week one of my colleagues did her PhD-defence.  As usual at the department, we had all put some money together for a gift.  The 2 colleagues responsible for buying the gift decided to get her a set of different colours of nailpolish, a handbag, a cupcake making set and an aloe vera plant.  When I saw that I had contributed 20 euros to that, I was so angry! When a guy defends his PhD, the usual gifts are art books, a special selection of spirits etc... But for a girl they buy nailpolish and a handbag?!

Politici die dit soort dingen mogen verkondigen zonder dat daar enig gevolg aan wordt gegeven... Draait de wereld door of ligt het aan mij? Wordt het niet eens tijd dat we DAT opkuisen???

Wat zegt dit trouwens over Francken zijn idee over vrouwen, wanneer hij "schminken, wenkbrauwen epileren en zwanger zijn" als "ongein" bestempelt???

Yep, it has started! 24th August and the entire house smells like Christmas. The first bags of "pepernoten" arrived at the supermarket, and my son insisted on buying some :)

Am I a bad person for not being very happy about my boyfriend going to a job interview today? He is currently over halfway his PhD, but since last winter he has been thinking about quitting. I can understand why he wants to quit: the university where he is doing the research is a complete shithole, he has lost interest in the topic, his promotor is the most unavailable person in the world, and gradually he has realised that research isn't his thing at all. On the other hand, it has taken me such a long and hard route to obtain a PhD-position, that I cannot even begin to understand why anyone would give up, especially being over half way! I would rather jump off a cliff than ever giving up now that I came this far... So this job interview is bothering me. And it's bothering me that it is bothering me....

Just started this today. Not quite Literature with a big L, I know, but an entertaining holiday read :)

All right, this is it.  I’m officially fat and officially fed up with being fat. 

I gained 30kg in the past 4 years, and I can say I’m most certainly addicted to food.  Over the past 3 years I have tried so many diets, but each time gave up after a few days as the satisfaction of the weight loss just never ever overpowered the satisfaction of eating nice food... My worst vices are Ben & Jerry ice cream, bread, cheese, pasta, brownies, coca cola and mattentaart (which is a traditional pie with a cheesecake-like filling, typical in parts of my country).  I used to say: “I never want my weight to be over 80kg″, and at some point that shifted to “I never want my weight to be over 90kg”, and now I’m at 103,5kg for 1m78... :(

But now I’ve had enough.  I’m fat.  What really starts to annoy me, is that it is the only thing people seem notice.  I’ve been turned into a fat person, and it’s like that it all there’s left.  People see a fat person, they already have their prejudices ready and don’t look beyond.  It’s annoying me to the point that it gave me the motivation to do something about it.

After I gave birth to my son 9 years ago, I managed to lose 16kg with a protein diet, so that’s what I’m going to give another go now.  As it is always a good idea to replace a bad addiction with a good one, I decided to create this tumblr account, so whenever it’s difficult to keep up, I can come here.  I won’t just be talking about food and dieting, but about pretty much anything on my mind.  If anyone reads this blog and finds it helpful or can relate, that’s a nice bonus, but my main goal is to keep myself away from (thinking about) food :)
