When I first auditioned for Stranger Things, I was just living in Chicago. Just looking for a job. Working at a restaurant, doing commercials and bit parts on shows. I honestly would have been happy booking anything. But I remember seeing the concept trailer the Duffer Brothers put together. The boys took these bits and pieces from all the movies that inspired them — Jaws, E.T., The Thing, Firestarter — and they cut them together into a mock trailer for what they wanted the vibe of the show to be. I was like, Oh, man. This would be so, so cool. But as an actor, you audition for something and forget about it, because you figure, Yeah, that was really fun. Probably won’t get it. On to the next one.

What a lot of people don’t understand is that the prison industrial complex goes far beyond just the fact that prisons exists.

It’s every single major corporation in the world benefitting from paying slave wages for prison labor

It’s private prisons enforcing quotas to incentivize the state to arrest and convict at higher rates

It’s the war on drugs treating (mostly black and latino) non-violent drug users as hardened criminals

It’s the school to prison pipeline

It’s a country where homelessness is criminalized

It’s mandatory minimum prison sentences

It’s imprisoning civilians for years without bail Before they get a trial

It’s prisoners leaving prison in debt because the slave wages they were forced to work for didn’t cover the cost of food and a bed

It’s former prisoners losing the right to vote

It’s employers discriminating against former prisoners

It’s abuse and substandard living conditions.

It’s a corrupt police state that falsifies evidence and unfairly targets minorities.

The problem is that a lot of y'all still just think of prison as a place where bad people go. It’s not. Most of the bad people are in board rooms, on the golf course, at the bank, in the white house. The truth is, prisons in America are just a business. The lie that they keep you safe is just an ad they can run.

Periods suck.

I was freezing all day long - my circulation felt way off in my arms and legs. Now I'm burning tf up...fuck this shit. And some idiots have the audacity to say periods are a woman's fault or that we can fully control this shit.

I mean periods are healthy but they also can lead to other health complications...like this can be a thyroid issue or iron deficiency or a dozen other things scarier than the last, women are not to blame for their periods and it's not a European thing...(I'm looking at you notep ass mfs) No woman asked for this.

You guys, I reblogged this 2 days ago out of desperation. Today I was looking through my old wallet for coins to go to the vending machine because that’s all I can fucking afford. I haven’t touched this thing since July/ August. When I found a disappointing 15 cents in the coin pocket I went to the billfold to see if any coins were in there.
