I didnāt think I was going to post this today, but I just did hot yoga for the first time in months (thank you, @newerconstellationsā) and Iām feeling really amped, so Iām hitting publish on chapter 1.Ā
I took some liberties (especially in this first chapter, where I had to set up a lot of Star Wars stuff), but I really tried to capture the tone and the humor of When Harry Met Sally.Ā
Iāll be posting the next chapter tomorrow because that will complete the road trip part of the story and I donāt want to leave it hanging. From then on, Iāll try to update regularly, probably on Tuesdays.Ā
The biggest possible thanks to my Exec. Prod. @delia-pavorumā who has been my #1 enabler/cheerleader from jump. I canāt believe this started with one little reference. Oh wait, I can, because itās me and Iām extra like that.Ā
And to @reylocalligraphy for popping up and offering to beta this chapter despite the fact that I am a nobody from nowhere and she is a famous tumblr calligrapher and writer.Ā
Oh and random shout out to @postedbygaslight. Months ago, I asked him how he updated his amazing fic so fast and he clued me into writing on the PHONE. And that is how I wrote and edited most of this fic! At my desk. At work. Shhhh.Ā

Modernized, gender swapped, slightly angsty, but still funny version. Rey is Harry. Ben is Sally.
In the summer of 2010, Rey and Ben argue about sex, death, Luke Skywalker, and basically everything else as they drive from Chicago to New York.
In 2014, they meet again. Theyāve both changed as individuals, but their contentious dynamic is the same as ever.
In 2018, they meet again as single people and become best friends. Itās the ultimate platonic relationshipā¦until sex gets in the way.
He feels a flash of resentment, imagining how Han would respond to Reyās genuine interest in this stupid trash pile on wheels. Theyād probably converse easily about the pneumatic struts.
How the fuck am I still jealous of a fucking recreational vehicle?
He takes a breath. Sometimes it helps when he feels himself start to spiral, but more often than not, it doesnāt make a damn bit of difference.
