You were visited last night. The telltale signs were all apparent as you awoke. As you stirred, the visions your unconscious mind saw never faded from your mind's eye. You sat up in your bed well rested, feeling better than you had in a long time. The other sign that this was a visitation, not a dream, was the telltale code you found on your device. You had no recollection of writing this link. It felt unsafe. You were aware of the deep web, in fact you may have already trolled through the internet's less-than-savory parts.
As you went through your daily chores, the visitation's images still clung to your mind. The night's rest dissipated, but the eyes, the garbled words, the incomprehensible feelings and ideas they shared with you meant nothing, yet held so much weight. These Specters weren't vicious. In fact they tended to be benevolent. You knew of people who were visited. Perhaps you had been visited before. The images were incomprehensible without the proper context.
You knew what to do. Perhaps on a whim, you opened your deep web browser and entered the link nestled in your device's notes. The page you visited was nothing like anything you had seen before. Colors, swirls, and the vague idea of completeness. This was one of many fabled codices.
The site morphed as you stared. Soon you finished ingesting the patterns and the incomplete visitation was almost complete. You knew there was now one last place to go to unluck the final part of the message from the Specters- your local modern art museum.
Regardless of your personal feelings, your curiosity compelled you to go. You walked through the many experimental and expressive works, unsure of what to look for, but you knew that when you saw the right thing from the right perspective the message would reveal itself. Perhaps on your journey you found pieces that spoke to you- the candle burning, the procedurally generated noise over some long forgotten pop song from the 80's, or maybe the grid of multicolored stickers that said "You got this, champ."
Finally you saw it. What it was doesn't matter as much as how this work gave you the fundamental context of the message of your visitation. One simple word rang in your mind. HELP
