Can you tell us more about Aristaeus? He seems like such a sweetheart

I cited a bunch of sources here already so I’m not gonna do all that again, there’s more on the Aristaeus Wikipedia page (quite a few i added myself o7) if you want to look into it. Anyways since i threw up almost all info i had on him on the other post (there’s not that much to him yes i know im sad too) here are some of my headcanons on him:

He big-brothered his full-sibling Idmon a lot because Apollo wasn’t usually there. After Idmon’s death he helped his dad to set up all the commemoration for his brother

He joined Dionysus on his campaign in India and got the shit beaten out of him. Apollo had to fix him up and his mom gave him house arrest even though he was 150 years old

Since Cyrene (the city) was pretty notorious for their medical dabbling in contraception/abortion i like to think he was partially involved in that development (maybe after he and his wife lost their son and didn’t want to have anymore children together) and he had a big fight with his father about it because of the hippocratic oath

He took his wife to Olympus after Semele got resurrected so Autonoë could reunite with her sister although Autonoë was never defied so she was like 60+ by the time

Classic TOA time travel back to lightning thief AU but instead of just Apollo, or Apollo and Meg, it's those two plus the emperors. Good news! No need to deal with Python as he's not resurrected yet, and Apollo has godly status back.

Bad news! Literally everything else. Apollo has to deal with Kronos rising, protecting Meg (she is not happy at being back as a 6-7 year old), grappling with the fact his dead children are alive again, and getting ahead of the emperors and not arousing any suspicion while he does so. He fails at the last one constantly. Everyone is extremely confused and frankly worried for him.

Anyways as people know me I would say I love anything underrated (yes I also LOVE the classical Greek connotations -especially since people do not always do them justice either- but yeah I am a sucker for underrated stuff)

So I would say that even if it is not really really favorite you know because I mostly see stuff with equal love, there are things I wish I saw more. Obviously bronze age fashion;

combination of colors or accessories being endless obviously.

There is also another part that I find super underrated; Archaic fashion

Sleeved dresses, drapped overcoats and peploi, long and pleated dresses etc things that I do not see as much and ironically they would look fantastic for character designs. They also signify the passage between bronze age and iron age towards the main classical antiquity

Last but not least from classical era I would love to see more of; Ionic fashion

the iconic sleeve design I hardly ever see on designs and is a pity because it would fit so many characters! It is a style even known to be worn by Apollo in the vase paintings (far right of the image);

so it is a pity I do not see that style more often especially by people who draw in a classical greek style

Good to know there is indeed a source that states how Persephone treats him in the underworld. Perhaps it was all simply because myrtle was used to make wreaths during the mysteries and myrtle was just as important to Aphrodite. Also Adonis is born from a myrtle tree.

My new favorite category of Apollo is him arguing with death—its giving enemies flirting and I’m here for it. It’s a little different from how I portray it in my stories, they’re a little softer with each other, but the essence is the same. Apollo bartering with death for life, putting himself at risk as an Olympian being so close to Death itself for the sake of a man and his wife.

This plays a huge part in the work I’m going to release soon, which I’m very excited about.

Newsflash: NONE of the gods OR goddesses were feminists! If your conclusion came from Medusa’s myth (which btw Ovid made up) then with that means ALL the goddesses are misogynists. I mean, Aphrodite and Persephone treated Psyche horribly, Artemis punished Aura and Callisto cruelly even if they were HER hunters, and Hera with Leto, Semele, Alcemene, Lamia and Io? All of them are equally horrible, so it wouldn’t be JUST ATHENA.

Also, gods are very complex and may happen to contradict themselves. Like how Artemis tells Agammemnon to sacrifice his daughter (even though his daughter counted as a virgin- which she protects). Or how Hera, goddess of women, punishes women who sleep with her husband. But a misogynistic goddess wouldn’t save a girl from being raped (by her least favorite uncle, but still). A misogynistic goddess wouldn’t gift a woman wisdom and skill for the sake of giving wisdom and skill to those who want to. Sure, a PRIDEFUL goddess would hate people having sex on her temple, a temple of a VIRGIN GODDESS, regardless if it was consensual or not. A PRIDEFUL goddess would hate if a person who she gifted BESTS her at HER craft. Arachne was hubristic, people. She was hubristic.

I mean, I understand why people want to shape the gods into certain tropes, to view them in the modern world or make them more relatable, but THEY’RE GODS! My favourite part of this, because the post is going around again, is wondering what beef the pantheons have between each other based on their history.

Obviously the Greeks hate the Romans, but would the Egyptians? Rome is the reason they lost their Pharaohs. Greece also conquered Egypt prior, so I bet they're still salty about that.

The Norse are depicted as pretty clueless and goofy but if they were a bit more serious I think they would hate the Romans. They pinched a lot of Northern gods and merged them all together, which had to be majorly annoying. Greece might be in the inbetween (I mean, Frey and Apollo had a hookup) but they're probably chill with the Egyptians.

I wonder how that would translate to the demigods/magicians like
