i hate that diet culture means all the tasty drinks everywhere are loaded with stevia now. this isn't even a stance about health, I just think it tastes so fucking bad
stevia is cross-reactive with a common environmental allergen: ragweed! if you've been drinking your fun little drinky drinks & have been feeling off there's a chance you're actually allergic!
I can't have artificial sweeteners because they give me migraines. I can't have stevia because I have an anaphylactic reaction. this new wave of "make everything 0 sugar" coming back into fashion could literally kill me if I'm not careful. nothing is safe, nothing is sacred, if I'm getting a little treat, better check the ingredients in case they changed em! :)
*head in hands* it's like ragweed??? Ragweed?? Oh my god everything makes so much sense
Ty for sharing that I had no idea
related to my previous post: this is my POV on the eternal "it is/n't that deep" debate always going on with everything, as someone who now just goes "cool okay whatever" and leaves when something disappoints me instead of wasting time raging about what went wrong or waiting around for it to get better. i think it's good to have all those crazy what-if thought experiments, but i also think you need to make sure you're not setting yourself up for heartache! be nice to yourself and be nice to other people (as the moral so often is...)
The way some people react to the Monty Hall problem is a good illustration that correctly identifying that you're being tricked and correctly identifying how you're being tricked are two separate skills. Some folks immediately intuit that there's a statistical sleight of hand in play, but because they have no insight into how it works, they interpret any attempt to explain what's really going on as further trickery. It's like showing someone that the rabbit was inside a secret compartment in the hat the entire time and having them respond "haha, you won't fool me that easily!"
(And, of course, while hypotheticals like the Monty Hall problem are a relatively harmless way for this to happen, they underline a very important fact: going in against a scammer without fully understanding how the scam works can easily have you doing exactly what they want you to do while totally convinced that you're beating them at their own game.)
Look, I'm glad to see more Asian representation in media, but this hype over the Wasians (mixed white-Asians) is making this Asian borderline uncomfortable 😬
Firstly, Blasians (mixed Black-Asians) don't get this much hype for being mixed and we all know why 🤡
Secondly, media and the public almost always put on a pedestal a very specific type of mixed Wasians, those of East Asian descent. I don't see as much hype for the Wasians of South Asian, Southeast Asian or West Asian descent. And of course, we all know why 🤡
Like I thought we had this discourse back in the early 2010s criticising how Asian representation in YA fiction tended to be Wasians?
Bring this back cos no one talks up the Asian heritage of the Blasians like Anderson Paak, H.E.R and Saweetie or the Latinasians like Bruno Mars. No one raises this much hype for the mixed white-South Asian actors. No one includes Olivia Rodrigo (white-Filipino) in the "Republic of Wasia"
The way none of these Wasians are darker than a paper bag 😬😬😬
(Left to right: Lola Tung, Alysa Liu, Megan Skiendiel, Laufey, Hudson Williams)
Precisely. We need to kill this phenomenon of the Wasian nation memes dead. Wasians are literally being used as a trend, at the expense of dehumanising themselves and erasing/ignoring mixed race Asians who don't pass the paperbag test.
God forbid non-white mixed Asians and monoracial Asians criticise the recent hype around Wasians and talk about proximity to whiteness, antiblackness and colorism, or butthurt Wasians will flood their comments sections accusing them of being divisive or complaining about how they are excluded by the Asian community. Babes, Blasians actully get excluded a lot from the Asian community becos of antiblackness, these feelings of not belonging and alienation aren't exclusive to Wasians 🙄
The Wasian meet-ups are just boba liberal bs. Becos yall were so annoyingly loud with your damn meet-ups during AAPI month and acting like victims when yall get called out by other mixed Asians and monoracial Asians for centering your whiteness. Nolan Wells is literally mixed Asian with a Blasian mother who's grieving him, they're from your community as well, but yall are staying mad quiet about his murder and the harassment his mother is receiving 🤡
Here is Nolan Wells' family's gofundme:

Me, passing a car covered in horny thirst-trap anime girl stickers: while I personally find this to be cringe, given the national push for censorship, I must concede that this is technically Praxis.
#driving my Toyota Praxis
The Japanese name for cars with those stickers is itasha. Which literally means “pain chariot” but is more idiomatically translated “cringemobile”.
Just like itabags for those of you enjoying the pin-bag trend as it's picked up steam in the west over the last decade or so!
Embrace cringe! Enjoy yourself sincerely! Decorate your car or your bag with your fandoms!

why would you ever outsource fun to chatgpt? are you stupid? you can make mediocre shit by yourself too.
you're missing out on all the crazy euphoric moments where you execute an idea flawlessly, sending it to your friends and feeling the genuine happiness at their reactions to something you made authentically. you're robbing yourself of something beautiful.
and I get it, writers block, artists block, depression can really be terrible, but once you break out of it (and you will) it will feel like climbing Mount Everest.
peace and love on planet earth! you are saving the environment AND you’re cool!
WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!!!!

i really do dislike how people utilize the term "unmonitored/unsupervised internet access" because on a regular basis they take issue with the internet part and not the neglect. i dont believe internet access is traumatizing, i think being neglected is.
the differences between alcohol, tobacco, and anything else in america is kind of absurd and it’s hard to wrap your head around without going kinda insane
you can drink alcoholic drinks in public if you want BUT ☝️ only in some places. you can smoke cigarettes almost fucking anywhere though, even though that makes the environment way worse for everyone around you. however you cannot smoke cannabis anywhere. you can’t even have it at all in a lot of places. having open containers (i.e. a bottle of liquor you’ve drank from before) of alcohol in your vehicle is illegal EVEN IF you’re sober as a nun. you can smoke in your car. everything has so much caffeine in it that sometimes a drink just hospitalizes or kills you. you can buy caffeine pills to stay awake at drugstores and gas stations. you need a drivers license to get decongestants and you have to jump through hoops and bark like a trained seal to get any kind of hrt or psychiatric medication. they sell cigs literally everywhere. they wreck your life and finances and make you smell horrid and give you cancer but a bunch of rich people are dumping so much money into keeping them legal that seemingly the only thing the government can do is “ehhh they give you cancer but we can’t BAN them.” cannabis has well-documented medical properties but old white people think smoking it makes you a satanist because of racist government propaganda. hell world
The parking attendant paused by the double-length bay. Intended for mobile homes and cars with trailers, it was currently occupied by a sleeping dragon.
No parts of it extended beyond the lines, and the paper ticket was clearly displayed, impaled on a horn.
The parking attendant moved on.
I was going to just queue it for later but then it stuck in my brain, and I decided to make it everyone's problem
So many ads are just “we at corporation care about our customers which is why we [thing we are legally obligated to do]”
I think about this so much more after working at a call center and being told “you need to not say outage unless we actually have a confirmed outage because we legally have to reimburse people if we fail to provide service” and then seeing that in ads as a really cool and nice thing the company does instead of something they’re forced to
