Hurrah! Submissions have been sorted!!!

Happy belated Pride Month, folks! It was amazing seeing all the creative works come out this year with LGBTQ+ themes. (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Nimona to name a popular few.) And though July may be over, we've still got more rainbow-flying works to show you all!

We didn't expect to get so many submissions in our first season, and on behalf of the Let's Say Gay team, I want to thank everyone who contributed to our colorful array. Truly, we're so thrilled! We are now in the process of formatting our selected submissions for publication on our website and the grouping will be up very soon. We can't wait to share our first publication and everyone's contributions in Let's Say Gay Volume 1: Rainbow Ink.

hi i do not like how some of you people have been using the term ‘egg’ lately. i also hate how you talk to gnc people. thank you.

so ‘egg’ refers to a trans person who has not yet realized they are trans and are in denial. usually one refers to themself in this context. i dont see this happening much to gnc women because its much normaler for a woman to be butch than for a man to be femme. but like.

if you know a man who is more femme. they may very well be a trans woman. and that is for them to figure out on their own. but yall see any man who isnt masc in the slightest bit and go ‘this must be a closeted trans woman’ no. shut up. being a trans woman is more than being a feminine male person. not only do i think youre not normal abt gnc men but i also think you are not normal about trans women.

its incredibly rude to call someone an egg for being gnc. what if we all minded our own business.

Seen a couple posts on the dashboard lately about writing with ADHD. So, for the ADHD and neurodivergent folks who like writing but struggle sometimes… check out StimuWrite.

You can set it to make little sounds as you type (or leave them off), and emojis pop up in the corner. You can change the background, dark and light themes, set your word goal, and it gives you a percentage and total word count at the bottom. Though it’s more meant for getting a draft written up, so it doesn’t have spell check or anything like that. You’re meant to just copy and past what you write here into Google Docs or Word or Scrivener or whatever else you use and go from there. Honestly love it when I’m struggling to get words down, though. And apparently there’s an update now for StimuWrite 2?👀

Anyways, give it a try if it looks like it may help. It’s currently name-your-own-price.

I cannot stress this enough: queer people don’t care if kids aren’t queer. What we do care about is queer children becoming queer adults and not dying before they get there. It really is that simple. Any additional context you’ve added to justify your bigotry is your own fiction.

Asexual and Aromantic Survey

I am currently writing a book about the experiences of those on the asexual and aromantic spectrums! As part of my research, I’m trying to compile as many personal stories as I can to include in the work - to which end, I’ve created a survey.

I’m hoping to put together a personal story of my respondents, exploring the challenges we face, the way our orientations intersect with other aspects of our identity such as disability and race, how we navigate relationships, and so on. How long the survey takes will depend on how much detail you want to go into; you could probably breeze through in a few minutes, though longer and more detailed answers will be a huge help to me.

If you are in any way ace or aro (including grey-ace/aro, demi, etc), it would mean the world to me if you filled in the survey; and if you’re not, please do spread it around! The survey will not collect your details (other than what you choose to share, of course).

If you feel like you’re disobeying God, questioning your faith, or feel wrong and dirty for loving who you love, there’s this fantastic site I found today called hoperemains that accurately and thoroughly combs through scripture and its (many) mistranslations, validates your orientation, and basically let’s you know that you’re not pissing off God. It’s insanely thorough and after reading through every page on the entire site it’s super helpful. Go check it out!

Happy Pride Month everyone! Let's Say Gay is partnering with Bridge Ink to extend and reach queer youth everywhere. We are pleased to announce our partnership, and would like to remind you that the deadline for submissions has been extended to July 1st.

Submit to LET’S SAY GAY! a literary journal for queer-identifying youth ages 13-18. We accept writing, poetry, visual art, and photography. We are accepting of all queer identities and the intersectionality and nuance that may accompany them. And it's free to submit! You don't even have to put your name out in the public. We welcome queer-identifying artists between the ages of 13 and 18 to submit to the inaugural issue of Let’s Say Gay, a new literary journal honoring LGBTQ+ art. We are currently accepting short fiction, flash fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, visual art, and photography. We only accept one entry per category, but welcome submissions in multiple genres (you may submit one entry for both poetry and photography).

LSG’s submissions are open this year from April 17th-June 1st. Submissions are free!
