you know,I just had this thought like okay, that's great some theater companies do land acknowledgements for indigenous people but it's kinda fucking tone deaf when you're not casting or doing pieces centered around indigenous people and keep doing the same white shows and keep casting the same white actors
learning to cheerfully dislike other people is I think a critical component of getting along with people who don't like you. Like as soon as I got a solid grasp on the fact that there is a wide swath of humanity that gets on my nerves and that it's my problem, not theirs, it got easier to be around people I find annoying. Once that's settled, it's easy to flip the reasoning around and conclude that if someone doesn't like me, that's a quirk of their own strange and arbitrary tastes, not a judgment upon either of us as a person. You can't like everyone. Not everyone will like you. It's fine. It's not a personal attack in either direction. We can exchange cordial nods across the room and then go on with our lives

look, the end goal of strong literacy skills isn’t to have perfect taste and be right all the time. i frequently enjoy things that have objective flaws. i frequently fail to enjoy things that most people would consider flawless. sometimes, i fall for propaganda. sometimes, something makes me uncomfortable, or confused, and i have to pause to figure out why. that’s life!
the more comfortable you are navigating the relationship between what a story wants to say, what it is saying, and how that affects you, the easier your life will be. you are free to criticize the things you love and celebrate the existence of the things you hate.

I was being sarcastic LMAO it seems like a lot of ppl blame not knowing things on the american education system instead of just like. voluntarily learning new information on your own. Public school is not responsible for teaching you the intricacies of everything ever like yeah a lot of school classes were inadequate especially when it comes to history & government.
