I love a character raised to be a weapon as much as the next guy. But what really gets me is a character raised to be a shield. Who can’t fathom being needed—or even being wanted— beyond keeping others safe. Who believe they are alive only to insure someone doesn’t die. no matter the cost. Characters who self-sacrifice not because they think they deserve it, but because no one else does deserve it, and it’s their job to protect.
Characters who’ve been told that’s why your important. Your worth something because this other person/ thing is important, and you are here solely to keep them safe.
Bonus points if it’s not a legitimate job they’ve been given. Maybe at one point it was, but now that they are free from it, they haven’t given up that mentality. No one is forcing or asking them to do this, but they need to. They need to in order to be deserving.
it's so funny how whenever phoenix says something that doesn't make sense and the prosecution says hey that doesn't make sense he goes MEAN TO MEEEEE 🥺🥺😖😖😫
couldn’t resist adding some of my own
also, bonus edgeworth:
Perfectly legal, consensual age gaps in fictional relationships are one of the most bonkers things that people have started getting up in arms about. I do not understand why.
Age gap relationships have been a pervasive staple of absolutely normie romance novels for decades. Centuries! Trying to frame every age gap as inherently predatory blows my mind.
Framing legal, consensual age gaps in fiction insistently as predatory... I can't help but see it as an insidious aspect of the continued infantalization of young adults. And when the younger partner is an adult woman? It comes off as incredibly paternalistic and misogynist.
Sometimes we’re unsatisfied with a thing we made because when it only existed in our head, we saw all the things it could have been and when it’s done we know all the things that it isn’t, but we can’t see the way it expands into a million new things when someone else unpacks it in their head.
this was posted in 2015. the years come and go but tumblr is eternal.
Made this Romeo and Juliet meme cuz this lukewarm take pisses me off
Reblogging this weekend on purpose for those who need support during the holiday. If you're in a safe place, don't feel guilty for putting her on blast. She forfeited her privacy the moment she made you her victim(s).
Reblogs are always appreciated~
Even a master of her craft and her lawyer boyfriend need to goof off from time to time!
"You can't ship them! They're literally like family! It's basically incest!"
Why do you think it's so disgusting for close friends to start dating one another?
What is your problem with characters who have an actual emotional bond being romantic?
Friends to lovers a beloved ship dynamic for a reason.
It's come to my attention that a good portion of the younger generation has not been made aware of one of the greatest and most hated PILLARS of millennial society.
So I apologize, but I must take on this task. A new hand must touch the beacon. The knowledge must be passed on. The chain can not be broken.
So.
The Game.
The following are the rules of The Game:
there is no winning The Game
once you know of The Game, you are always playing the game
the point of The Game is to not think about The Game
if you think about The Game, you have lost The Game, and must announce this to those around you - causing them to also lose The Game
A "reset period" of roughly an hour or two before loss announcements is common in colloquial rules to allow yourself and those around you to properly temporarily "forget" about The Game, however that is not an official rule.
Go forth, you next generation, and I am sorry.
What have you done
once in high school someone managed to seize control of the intercom and announced, "Attention, all students, this is an announcement: you have just lost the Game," and i got to find out what it sounds like when an entire school shrieks in rage all at once.
Our friend group got so into the game back in 2005-2008 that all anyone had to do was groan or quietly curse to themselves in the wrong way and we'd ALL yell we'd lost the game.
I am a Millennial who managed to go my entire formative years without running across this
Where... did this come from? How did it get so widespread? I heard about it at summer camp in 2008, I'm pretty sure.
Love it when antis think that narumayo shippers don’t exist anymore…
Like nah. We still do. :)
Reblog with every US state you’ve visited in the tags!
Imagine Phoenix going to some sort of party or like courthouse meeting or important Lawyer Thing and everyone there walking up to him like “hey good to see you, where’s Maya?” and Phoenix just being like “why does everyone keep asking me that?” And someone has to be like um, I’ve literally never seen you without that girl with you I thought you guys were married or at least law partners, you’re telling me that’s not the case???
And Phoenix being like “she’s not always with me” and everyone looking at him like :/ okay whatever you say.
And he doesn’t want to admit that Maya WAS supposed to come with him she just had important Kurain duties or something at the last minute so she had to back out and he doesn’t even really want to be there without her, but he didn’t think EVERYONE would notice her absence.
So he leaves early and goes home to pout because he didn’t get to see her for one whole day.
you really can write whatever you want
Heads up everyone, there's a new scam in town!
(Or perhaps an old one and I am late to the party)
Reasons it is a scam:
1) long, but doesn't reference the fic or characters at all
2) wants money - and will only communicate through dms, they don't have a public profile with proof of their work
And finally!
3) I googled this copy paste text and... suprise! It is a copy paste text. Loads of other people have the same ask
Stay safe and don't fall for this all!
I get this in DMs a lot. Definitely just ignore it.
