There's more đ€Ł
Our system is broken. It is cruel. It is dehumanizing, degrading, and itâs vile nature is so, so unnecessary.
We need universal healthcare today in America. We needed it 40 years ago. Itâs cheaper, itâs simpler, itâs more efficient, itâs more effective and it is so, so, so much less cruel than what we have.
Additional sources/references:
Universal Healthcare Cost in America would be cheaper by trillions of dollars
The US has worse life expectancies than socialized healthcare countries
We have worse generalized healthcare results
We have the most expensive care
Our system is so cruel and unique that doctors from other countries literally canât believe what happens here
I canât tell you where or how to activate to help solve this. There are politicians, groups, and activists pushing for this in so many ways. I can tell you when, though.
Now.
contender for stupidest fucking line in sonic history
Second place goes to Eggman as well
my ancestors seeing me shrug off a diarrhea session
People in the notes confused because they're so accustomed to running water they don't know how close diarrhea might have otherwise come to killing them if they've had it even once lol it's killed more humans than just about anything in history
Weâre the granddaughters of the bowels you couldnât irritate
Mine would be baffled that I've gone 5+ years with bloody diarrhea. Inflammatory Bowel Disease has probably always existed, but they didn't have treatment.
I do want to specifically shout out Dr Thomas Latta, who is the person who gave us IV hydration, and pretty much magically cured cholera with it in his first attempt. From his diary:
I attempted to restore the blood to its natural state, by injecting copiously into the larger intestines warm water.. trusting that the power of absorption might not be altogether lost, but by these means I produced, in no case, any permanent benefit.. I at length resolved to throw the fluid immediately into the circulation. In this, having no precedent to direct me, I proceeded with much caution. The first subject of experiment was an aged female. She had apparently reached the last moments of her earthly existence, and now nothing could injure her â indeed, so entirely was she reduced, that I feared I should be unable to get my apparatus ready ere she expired. Having inserted a tube into the basilic vein, cautiously â anxiously, I watched the effects; ounce after ounce was injected, but no visible change was produced. Still persevering, I though she began to breathe less laboriously, soon the sharpened features, and sunken eye, and fallen jaw, pale and cold, bearing the manifest impress of death's signet, began to glow with returning animation; the pulse, which had long ceased, returned to the wrist; at first small and quick, by degrees it became more and more distinct ... and in the short space of half and hour, when six pints had been injected, she expressed in a firm voice that she was free from all uneasiness, actually became jocular, and fancied all she needed was a little sleep.
Diarrhea can very easily be death by dehydration, especially when you can't consume oral fluids (Cholera causes extreme vomiting as well). Not only did we solve part of the problem with clean water, the other half was learning how to put clean water into our bodies (with salt).
Also fun fact, Thomas Latta was active in England at the same time as John Snow, the father of epidemiology, also in response to the Cholera epidemics at the time.
the fuckin face in that last panel is on its own plane of emotion
Powerpuff Girls was actually a show about a group of small children crushing the patriarchy and no one will convince me otherwise
Anyone who tries to convince you otherwise obviously wasnât watching the same show.
reasons why i love this show so muchÂ
I love that the most tiny feminine delicate sweetheart of the three does the traditionaly masculine chores. Kinda makes me wanna see a teen Bubbles change a tire in a pretty dress and hair bow.
honestly i think my fav part of this gifset is the fact that those last two are probably supposed to be Their Chores but only Bubbles is doing them like that is peak sibling energy, flawless execution
Didnât PPG have a villain that was specifically meant to mock feminists as man haters that use feminism to harm others?
They did and if you watch the whole episode you see the PPG get tricked into letting the villain committ crime out of female solidarity.
Then several women step in to talk to the PPG about how the villain is using feminism as a scapegoat to get away with toxic and criminal behavior. And how what the villain is doing isnt actually feminist at all.
Like that episode was very good about addressing toxic behaivor from people who are supposedly woke or whatever.
An episode a lot of Tumblr should watch given the rampant radfem and terf ideology that gets spread on here.
in conclusion
stan powerpuff girls for clear skin
Additionally: look at Bubbleâs smile and pure joy when her sisters bring up her role. Thatâs not a child whoâs getting shunted with the sibling chores, thatâs a child who decided one Sunday morning âIâm going to wash the car, it sounds fun!â and no one has stopped her since.Â
PLEASE tell me what you think the word âtropeâ means. in your own words. what do you think a trope is. PLEASE tell me. pl
well you see a trope means itâs a popular tag on ao3. it only exists in fanfiction! :) thatâs famously why you never hear about people analyzing popular tropes in classical literature or across the works of shakespeare :) the only tropes are things like âfake datingâ and âenemies to loversâ and if a person is talking about a trope it means theyâre talking about fanfiction
like really the ironic thing is that these are the people complaining about Internet Poisoned Fandom People, but by exclusively associating a word meaning âliterary conventionâ with fandom and fanfiction and ao3, they themselves are the ones revealing they know very little about literary analysis and can only think about these terms through the lens of fanfiction. my siblings in christ you are the Internet Poisoned Fandom People
When my mom and aunt were younger my aunt was in high school and my mom in middle school. A group of girls were bullying my aunt and one slapped her in the lunch room. The principal met with my grandma and the other mom. He said they werenât punishing the other girl because he didnât get involved in âgirl problems.â My grandma asked if that meant my aunt could retaliate the next time it happened and he said no then it would be a fight and theyâd both get in trouble.
So my grandma turned away from him and to the other mom and said âI have another daughter. She doesnât go to this school and sheâs a star softball player with her own bat. You can tell your daughter to stop bothering mine or you can drive her to the hospital with a shattered jaw. Thatâs your choice.â And walked out.
Few months later that girl stole a necklace from my aunt. My grandma called the cops and they all drove to her house to get it back. The cop came outside with it and said he told the family my grandma wouldnât press charges if they gave it back. My grandma took the necklace and said âThen youâre going to have to go in and tell them you lied because I am pressing charges. Sheâs a thief and I want her treated like one.â
My grandma was a single mom in the 70s with two daughters and she took no shit from men who tried to undermine her and her daughters.
She also got excommunicated and then re-communicated after bothering the Vatican enough to let her back in
She doesnât even like being Catholic and is Episcopalian now. It was more of a âYou canât fire me, I quit!â which is even better, at least to me

You know? While is most probably true that the reason the owl house got cancelled was because all the gay representation, I had seen people who actually resent lumity because âit killed the showâ
And look, I am not going to say lumity is the entire reason the show is asom (my focus may be ships but believe me I had been gushing with other people about this showâs strenghts since episode 1) or the show would be ruined if they waited until the last episode, but it still part of the reason is so special, and Iâm dying on that hill.Â
It took me forever to watch the show for personal reasons, and while at some point I thought of watching the series and blocked the tag, even then I heard how lumity was canon.
At first, I believed it was what other shows had done; have something that could read as romantic (like blushing or similar) and people were happy because is not like we could get anything else until a finale (if lucky), right?
So when I started the show I knew about the ship, but didnât think it would go deep enough that I wouldnât need to make headcanons and fanfics to compensate.Â
We go to prom, where we get the confirmation that Amity wanted to ask Luz out, and I was surprised they went that way, but I still thought âWell, it could be interpreted as she wanted to go with her a friend, that reason could make it ambigious enough that no one would raise a fitâ
Look, donât get me wrong, I know how hard so many people working on certain shows had worked on getting the slightest of crumbs, and how normally they needed to fight to get a confirmation in the finale. I was there when Korra aired the final season, and how while the ending was sweet, it was ambigious enough the creators needed to confirm it online (And somehow still got the scene taken away in some places? Is ridiculous)
So I thought that was all I was ever going to get, at least for now; and I accepted that.
Then we go to the next episode and I am like âholy shit this is gay panic and there is absolutely no other explanation for it, they arenât playing the subtle card anymoreâÂ
I was shocked; I grew up with crumbs of representation, and that is not even getting into the fact that the first confirmed gay characters I knew were so riddled with stereotypes I could not find any comfort and famiriality in them.Â
And seeing Amity made a mess of herself (which not gonna lie, reminded me way too much when I was 13 and crushing hard on a girl) meant the world to me, hell, still means the world to me.
While watching the show I couldnât stop thinking how much this would had meant to me when I was younger; the enviroment I grew up wasnât very open minded, and I still remember how that night it finally clicked that I wasnât cishet, my first thought was that I needed to fix myself.Â
Even if I canât make my younger self feel better about who we are, the fact that kids now have this is still a lot. They would see Amity and Luz, unapologetically in love, have Raine use they/them pronouns, being respected for who they are without an ounce of doubt, Willowâs dads being as normal as the weather; and know that they, is okay.
And part of it would had been lost if they had waited until the finale.
Sure, it would still have Luz and Amity together, but I know for experience, is not the same have yourself hoping, dreaming that this character you love is like you, than having them be stated like that way early, and not only know that, but see them do the same things you do, and how no one thinks is weird.Â
Is not like having the characters be together is a only same-sex thing; it wasnât exactly homophobia why Star and Marco werenât dating until the end, or how Miraculous has 4 seasons and they are still not dating.Â
But while those pairings are way obvious, most of the time same-sex things get stuff muddled, subtle, to the point people would deny it until the very end.
(Hell I still remember when Sapphire and Ruby were show for the first time in Steven Universe, and people were insisting they were sisters and nothing else)Â
Again, not throwing shade to SU staff (for this one at least) and other creators, because I can only imagine how hard it was to fight for those tihngs.Â
However, it doesnât change how amazing is to have this.Â
I was thinking about it while rewatching Labyrinth Runners. I like Huntlow, and if you look close enough you can see little seedlings here and there, but nothing concrete enough, and yes, I had seen people say how shippers are misreading signals; same old fandom drama.
But that hit me with a realization: If there was any creator, or any other team, this would had been the opposite.
Huntlow would be the blatantly obvious, while Lumity would have minimal blushes or gestures. The fact that this isnât the case makes me extremely happy.
Even if the show could had gotten four season with lumity at the finale, Raine either being a guy or somehow avoiding their pronounds until the very end (if not erase them compledtly) and Willowâs dads maybe being the only thing to exist; I donât think this show wouldnât be as dear to me if it wasnât making my child self feel seen.
So, even if I am sure no one from the team would ever see this: Thank you Dana, and everyone else in the crew, for making this happen.Â
