ps i would love to see headcanons discussing these things! im sure these arent things people haven't noticed before

they have tattoos!! they're obviously permanent, they didnt wash off in the river in brazil so how did they get them? who did it? did they find a tattoo gun? did Donnie make one or are they stick and pokes? either way the designs are cool, one of them has a good hand and design ideas (mikey?)

who painted the kanji on Leo and Raphs shells? do they know kanji? they can speak japanese too or just write it?

mikey has custom nikes/shoes w split toes in the first film iirc, how? do they know how to custom make shoes?! how did they even come across their shoe size..

for their size they're incredibly agile! you saw Leo do those flips during training, thats fucking amazing and impressive

also they cant stand still for shit. or atleast mikey and raph cant 😭 theyre always shifting on their feet while standing....do i dare suggest neurodivergence..

Funnily enough, I do have a headcanon for the tattoos thing!!

Let’s be honest— haven’t most teenagers wanted a tattoo in their lives? TMNTpedia confirms their birthday is in September of 1999, making them 14 years old during the first film (which takes place in March) and 14 year olds don’t exactly have the best judgement yet.

So when your dad says no to DIY tattoos and you’re a six foot something mutant that can’t exactly waltz into a tattoo parlor (not to mention you’re not even of age), you gotta get creative. And when the shady parlor in Brooklyn you found on yelp stays open until 1 a.m., well, you take your shot.

Block the entrance. Sneak in the back door. Give 25 year old apprentice Danny the choice of tattooing four giant monsters or a knuckle sandwich. Oh, and make sure everyone’s settled since they wouldn’t be back for another session.

Mikey designed a shoulder turtle tattoo for everyone to get (I’m for real, they all have the same tattoo on their shoulders!!) and Leo got some extra ones by his own design. Any time this Danny kid started slacking Raph made sure to put him back on track. Speaking of, Raph cried like a baby while Donnie didn’t even flinch. And as due payment, the turtles figured a Chloroform soaked rag to the nose and $200 would suffice.

The turtles had never been more happy. Splinter had never been more mad.
