Saw this twitter post and instantly started looking for pictures of Stratt to use it with
once a teacher always a teacher
spent half an hour on a train today thinking increasingly abstract thoughts and this is all it really boils down to
unraveling at the seams thinking about how graces reaction to remembering that he was drugged and forced onto the mission was to come to the conclusion that he was a coward. like on some level sure he was angry at stratt but he was far angrier with himself. he built up this story in his head that somewhere somehow along the way he developed the courage and bravery to choose to sacrifice himself for earths sake. he clung to this story when he didnt have anything else. and it wasnt real. not only was he a vicious coward but he threatened to sabotage a mission to save the entire world because his desire to live was so overpowering. there was nothing that couldve convinced him otherwise. not his kids, not the rest of humanity, nothing. and he tears himself APARTTTTT for this. if you want rocky to get this secret out of grace youre gonna need twelve hours, some elbow grease, and industrial grade lube thats how deep the shame lies. i think grace is incredibly angry about how it all went down and i also think that if you told him he didnt deserve it he'd probably bite your head off

no monsters, no demons, no j*hn. it's just that bobby and dean came to visit sam at stanford, and bobby said they had to take a picture
john really woke up, looked at THIS, and said, âokay monster bait, get in the trap.â
you know, misha was kinda jensen's manic pixie girl
that one story where misha orders three least ordered dishes on the menu for himself and jensen? manic pixie girl behavior tbh
Honestly, thinking about two TOS episodes that are both flawed (esp when it comes to "the landing") but still interesting and ambitious, far beyond what the easy dismissiveness of the fandom prepared me for, but alsoâ
"Metamorphosis":
KIRK: Companion, do you love the man? COMPANION: I do not understand. KIRK [sounding passionately heartbroken beyond anything the situation explains]: Is he important to you? More important than anything? Is he as though he wereâa part of you?
"Turnabout Intruder":
KIRK [bodysnatched & trying to prove his identity to Spock]: You are closer to the captain than anyone in the universe. You know his thoughts. [Clearly inviting a mind-meld] What does your telepathic mind tell you now? SPOCK [understands and effortlessly, silently melds with him, recognition all over his reaction]: I believe you.
#as written they're still '!!!!!' obviously but onscreen it's just. well. okay!#the metamorphosis speech /could/ come across as less personal but holy shit did william shatner not choose to perform that way#sandra smith could have delivered the turnabout intruder declaration more breezily but absolutely did not make that choice#good for her it's a fantastically 'this is the same person as the james kirk we know' move to make it full of intensity and that bit weird#thank u bill & sandra for your service in Jim Kirk Always Having a Normal One (X @anghraine)
ZUKO & KATARA

â please don't use, download, or screenshot my gifs without permission or credit! these are specially made and took time to create, so please ask first!
I do think itâs funny that kataang nukes the importance of so many critical plotpoints in every atla adaptation. Like Aang has to let go of Katara and find healthier coping mechanisms to deal with the loss of his people in order to become a more responsible avatar? Lmfao u thought no he doesnât. Aang is struggling with being the last airbender and literally gets his friends killed trying to restore his culture? Well he has kids with Katara anyway so who tf cares.
I think there is something so significant about Elizabeth thinking that Darcy circumvented a will to screw over Wickham in Pride & Prejudice because that is a legal document. The thing that protects married women in the gentry is also a legal document: the wedding articles, a prenuptial agreement that grants women an allowance (pin money) and money after their husband dies (jointure).
âAnd of your infliction,â cried Elizabeth, with energy; âYou have reduced him to his present state of povertyâcomparative poverty. You have withheld the advantages which you must know to have been designed for him. You have deprived the best years of his life of that independence which was no less his due than his desert. You have done all this! and yet you can treat the mention of his misfortunes with contempt and ridicule.â
Why did Austen choose to make the issue between Wickham and Darcy an inheritance? I think for the same reason that character and morals are emphasized so much in her novels. A woman is putting her life in the hands of her husband, she needs to know that he will properly take care of her. She needs to know that he won't circumvent the legal documents designed to protect her. And especially in this match, where Mr. Darcy holds so much more influence and wealth than Elizabeth's father, his reputation, character, and past dealings are everything.
âLizzy,â said her father, âI have given him my consent. He is the kind of man, indeed, to whom I should never dare refuse anything, which he condescended to ask." (Mr. Bennet is endlessly sarcastic, but he's pretty sincere in this scene so I believe him here)
If Darcy could do something so cruel to Wickham, his father's favourite, what could he do to Elizabeth, if one day all of his objections to their marriage overwhelmed his love?
