Had a weird moment today you might relate to.

Skinny guy with hair he bleached over a month ago, smoking habit, mtg player whobis VERY attached to the game's faction of nonconsensual body modifiers, a little nervous, not the most sensible person, wears a hat indoors.

And after talking to them for a while for the 2nd time in a few months, remembering their name is going to be complicated because all that I have for them now...

Did you have a term of art for someone who conflates women with nonbinary people?

i don't think there's yet a term for someone who is not themselves nonbinary who does this but there really should be an insulting term for this. "theyfab" has gotten a lot of good use for afab nbs who fundamentally view themselves as a weird type of woman (and thus ontologically incapable of harming others)

why do you think it's acceptable to base your worldview on falsehoods? what's your justification for being religious?

Why do you think you're doing anything else but basing your worldview on falsehoods?

And this has nothing to do with if a giant beard in the sky exists or not, because that's irrelevant to this conversation.

The idea that I have a religion or don't is something you have no information on. It is a theoretical concept, to you unverifyable because you have done pretty much nothing to discern if it's true or not, or even to change your world view based on the evidence or lack thereof you've discovered.

Instead, you took it on faith that I must be, because to your personal dogma, only someone who believes in a god would disagree with how you behave.

I MUST believe in a divine being, or beings, or falafels controlling humanity from a secret moon base. Because otherwise, YOU'RE the asshole here.

To those who don't get the joke: The issue isn't if god(s) are real or not, but the patterns of behavior that lead to being unwilling to question or grow because that would challenge the preconceived world view. It's what we call 'Religious Thinking', and deciding you're immune to a kind of mental trap because you don't believe in the existence of Yokai is itself the same kind of mental trap.

That you believe in fewer gods than other people does not make you immune to that kind of flawed pattern of thought that's common in people who believe in 1+ more deities than you.

basing your worldview on whatever group of random superstitions you grew up with is infinitely dumber than realize that supernatural things aren't real and living your life around that obvious assumption. are YOU willing to ask yourself "if atheists are right, am i okay with the way i'm acting?" bc right now you've got posts on your blog trying to justify the murder of thousands of innocent people on religious grounds

the implication here is that some people dying justifies military actions to kill more than an order of magnitude more people, most of whom were unrelated to the initial killings. this is a great example of how religious thinking clouds people's judgement and makes them unable to think or act in even the most basic moral ways, despite their claims. god isn't real, and you will cease to exist when you die.

It's that you refuse to admit that the war going on is based on religious beliefs on BOTH Sides.

But to be fair, when you start from the position of 'oh some people died' as the description of 'massive terrorist attack filmed and streamed live on the internet' I'm not exactly going to state your morality is the guideline I'm going to look to... just in general?

1000 people dying does not give anyone the right to kill >10000 mostly unrelated people in response. hence the "order of magnitude" comment. i am morally superior to you because i don't decide it's okay to kill people because i'm more sympathetic to one side's supernatural beliefs. i don't like islam either, doesn't mean random innocents should be bombed to death. keep being a religious idiot as much as you want, everyone with sense can see it makes you a more callous and evil person when you believe lies on purpose.
