Buck's narratively satisfying "full circle" moment regarding his love for Eddie!
Bobby dying tonight (it's likely to be a FAKE death because PK was spotted in a BTS video with AH, KC, OS and RG), could give Buck a "possible" narratively satisfying full circle moment, that is, if the showrunner handled it right. Everything started back in season 1 with the relationship lessons Bobby taught Buck regarding the difference between meaningless s*x and intimacy along with him stepping into a relationship.
Full Disclosure: I will not be watching tonight's episode because I don't believe Eddie will be in it. Also, since it's likely that Tomato will 🙄, I'm already pissed off because he's not a main and I'm sick of seeing his face.
Now back to regular programming.
Earlier today, when I remembered something Bobby told Buck in season 1, I thought about the possible reasons why Tomato could be in 8x15 and I realized it could be a full circle moment for Buck to finally choose himself instead of letting people treat him like all he's good for is s*x.
Just in case someone's unaware of this fact, BOBBY IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PEOPLE IN BUCK'S LIFE and he told him that in 3x10. He also said if anything happened to him, he didn't know what he would do. This is a CANON fact, it's not debatable and neither are the other things that have happened in CANON.
In 1x6, while Bobby was helping Buck get ready for his date with Abby, Buck asked him what he was supposed to do if he ended up having s*x with her and Bobby's response was, "It's not uncommon for a guy to use quick and meaningless s*x to avoid real intimacy." Reminder Buck was a "self-proclaimed" s*x addict and it's the thing he used to try to get people to learn more about him. However, NO ONE wanted to do anything with him but have s*x, including Abby.
That was eight years ago and it's season 8 but by Buck's own admission in 8x11, he's still using s*x to feel things or because he's lonely. Therefore, he's still avoiding real intimacy and he validated it with his own words to Tomato when he said, "You know, I don't have to sleep with everyone I have feelings for and I don't have to have feelings for everyone I sleep with! 🤪😜 LOL.
For those who didn't catch it, Buck DOES NOT HAVE FEELINGS FOR TOMATO!
IMO, this season has been leading to Buck's full circle moment and it's possible it could happen after he learns that Bobby's the one who died. In the promo, he's seen crying and wailing and I think after he cries, he might think about the things Bobby taught him regarding relationships. If he admits to himself that whatever the hell he's been doing with Tomato was nothing but s*x and that it NEVER was real intimacy, then he should tell him that to his face in a way that makes things final. Also, he should remember the conversation they had in 7x10 (no, I didn't include a GIF of that scene because I don't want to see Tomato's face). But the gist of it was Buck was attempting to have a vulnerable conversation with him about Bobby being hurt but as usual, Tomato turned it into a s*x thing and he made a daddy kink joke.
This is the reason why Bobby's death could help Buck understand once and for all that having s*x with someone is different from sharing real emotional intimacy with them.
The truth is, Buck's only shared REAL EMOTIONAL INTIMACY with Eddie and he never shared it with any of his previous love interests. Just because they had s*x, that doesn't mean they shared intimacy especially since he didn't know them and they didn't know him. Abby proved she didn't know him in 1x10 when she admitted that she didn't even know who she was. When all of Buck's relationships are examined, it's easy to see that Abby, Ali, Taylor, Natalia and Tomato didn't/don't know him at all. Abby used him as a distraction, Ali knew he was a firefighter but she ended it because of his job even though she knew that's how he identified himself. Taylor only wanted to hook up with him, Natalia only wanted to learn more about his death and Tomato only wants s*x from him. And before someone says anything, Buck and Taylor living together didn't prove they shared intimacy. Hell, roommates live together too but most times they aren't intimate. Furthermore, them saying "I love you" in 5x9 wasn't real because she didn't know him and he didn't know her. Buck didn't even define love until 5x18 and that was right before he broke up with her.
A lot of people confuse s*x with intimacy but they aren't the same since people can have s*x without having feelings for the person they're with!

YES! It was and he meant it.
For two people to share real intimacy, they have to know each other at their core. It's about being vulnerable and emotionally connected in a way that they aren't with anyone else. Love is born out of that shared intimate connection hence the reason why Buck told Maddie that he understood why Tomato would be concerned about what him and Eddie share. The fact is the only person Buck knows emotionally and he allows himself to be vulnerable with is Eddie Diaz.
Additionally, in season 1, Bobby told Buck to step in with Abby but reminder it didn't work. However, it did work with Eddie because in 2x4, Buck took Bobby's words and stepped into Eddie's dilemma regarding him needing to find someone who could help him with Chris. Buck contacted Carla and the rest is history.
In season 5, after Eddie's mental breakdown, Buck contacted Bobby again without telling Eddie he was going to do it and he asked him to come over and stay with him so that he could take Chris to school. I've posted about this numerous times but the fact is WHO DOES THAT? What person do you know who would call your manager/captain/supervisor and ask them to come over and sit with your coworker so they can take their kid to school? I don't know anyone who would and if they did, it would be interesting especially since most employees don't even want to contribute to the collection for their leader's Christmas present.
It happened again in 8x9 but this time, Buck told Bobby, Hen and Chimney about his plans without telling Eddie. Reminder, he told all of them that he submitted his notice to end his lease so that he can take over Eddie's. Therefore, it's like I've been saying for years, THEY ALL KNOW and MADDIE does too (posts linked here, here and here).
The point of this post is to illustrate the possibility of Buck having a full circle moment after Bobby dies and he gives himself the time to really reminisce on the things Bobby taught him. He'll be in pain and he won't know how to handle it.
Also, in the past, whenever Bobby was hurt, Buck ran to Eddie just like he did in 5x16 after the Metro Dispatch fire. His then girlfriend and the woman he kissed were standing to the side but Buck was with Eddie worrying about his dad Bobby.
Buck and Eddie are soulmates and whatever the "F~CK" Buck's been doing with Tomato is nothing but meaningless s*x and that's by Buck's own admission.
Hopefully, after 8x16, Tomato will be gone for good especially since Eddie won't drink the water in 8x17. Reminder, I've already posted that I don't believe Eddie will return to the 118 until 8x18 (related post linked here) because Tim is dead set on paralleling season 5 with season 8 and every episode starting with 8x10 has mirrored season 5. Therefore, if things continue in that manner, it'll be the same thing this season. Eddie will be at the funeral but Gerrard will be captain of the 118 again which means Eddie won't get his job back until Bobby returns from the dead.
