The Owl House is actually Bionicle (and its AWESOME)
Mystical island formed from the body of a long dormant god? Check
Lonely but optimistic and adventurous, light-themed, ADHD coded, protagonist who is cast out from their home, doesn't fit in the islands elemental category system, and goes on journey of self discovery befriending more oddballs and learning to believe in themselves? Check
Shapeshifting eldritch abomination villain with a god-complex that posed as the society's beloved authoritarian ruler and later possesses the body of the dormant island god for ultimate power? Check
Hot wise old mentor lady with a staff whose backstory involves being forcibly transformed into a violent half-beast form? Check
Are they the same? No. But are there a TON of fun parallels between these two stories I love? YES!

there's nothing more swagless to me than people who try to make vampires less horny. where's your fucking honor. "a vampire wouldn't care about being sexy while drinking your blood because they don't need to you're just a food source to them" WELL MAYBE THEY WANT TO. MAYBE SOME OF US ARE HOT ENOUGH THAT THEY'D BE WILLING TO TRY. EVER THINK ABOUT THAT HUH.
You know, im a little interested: how many other people out there cut exclusively for fun/pleasure? Is it just me whos cutting/self "harm" has turned into something fun and enjoyable with less painful narritaves attached, or am i just making stuff up? I do get urges to act on it from rage or negative emotion, but I dont react to those and only do it in a way that makes me feel happy and am careful not to use anything dirty or broken, and dont cut too deep.

It’s 2018 and I still have no clue how CDs work. It’s a shiny disc, how do they get data on that, let alone that much?? Magic
Like a vinyl disc, where a physical groove is marked into the vinyl, a laser marks the ink of a CD in a similar manner. A laser (your disc drive) can then look at the pattern in the ink and understand it.
There’s no grooves on a CD tho???
They’re just really tiny, hence the laser. The smaller grooves means that more info can fit on a disc of the same size.
Man how the fuck did they figure out how to make that
well they looked at a record and said “How do we fit more information on this?” to which the reply is “Well either you make the record bigger or the grooves smaller” and making the grooves smaller is way more convenient so they say “Well how do we make the grooves smaller?” and that’s when a total madman comes out with eyes flashing and yells “WITH A LASER!”
And that’s how the CD was invented
how did they figure out how to fit information in grooves in a piece of vinyl in the first place????
probably got some ideas outta this
Fucking mad lads
#the really wild fact is that even purely digital forms of storing information are basically just ‘count the bump’ technology really
okay but I’ve got another fun fact for you: the bump-counter has to get smaller, too, right? Going from a big weighted needle to a fine weighted needle to a precise laser beam? So why can’t the laser in the DVD player read a Blu-ray disc? Is it because the player can’t read that much data at once or something? No.
It’s because the 650 nm wavelength of the red laser light is too big to read the Blu-ray bumps.
Blue-violet light’s smaller wavelength can be used to accurately read much smaller bumps than red light. Blu-ray is called that because the laser is bluish because the bumps on the discs are too small to be read by a needle more than five hundred nanometers across.
