important reminder that most people you follow online are significantly lamer than you think they are including me. and if you feel insecure comparing yourself to someone online: DON'T. theyre probably also lame and weird. most people on the internet are
Other useful trueisms about coolness
People who think theyre cool generally are not
Cool people are also broadly actually not cool deep down
There's no such thing as a cool person. We are all dogs fighting for scraps
Soon this world will be given a new purpose. The existing social structures we know will crumble and collapse

and the thing is 2011 dan WAS funny. he certainly wasn’t always funny back then, but the foundation of what makes dan funny today was there back then. how he’d emphasize words and his expressiveness, this air of disbelief. like a big part of dan’s humor is physical as he’s speaking and that’s just who he is. and so he’s always been able to be really fucking funny and dan was right to laugh at that okapi bit. i’m so glad he can see himself and not feel judgment or embarrassment just for it being his younger self. he can enjoy his past self.
a thing about me is i basically never notice a wig or other kind of hairpiece in tv/movies. it has to be party city territory for me to even twig it. people will complain about characters' wigs looking bad and i will nod along but there is like a 90% chance i did not notice for a second while watching. i consider this mostly a blessing.
i was gonna say “wow, they’re really pushing the came back wrong trope because buffy keeps repeating the exact phrase” until i googled and realise the phrase “came back wrong” literally originates from buffy. this show is like the modern shakespeare
in 2004 a thread started on buffistas.org to discuss tropes used in Buffy and other Whedonverse shows. At the time there were no formal names for most tropes so users assigned them names based on the scenes they were discussing. This thread inspired one of the site members to start the website TVTropes.org
Most of the listings on TVtropes were named after scenes and quotes from Buffy the Vampire Slayer

(and if it's not btvs, as people in the tags have noted, it's star trek or the x-files)
actually so fucking funny to play gay chicken with your boyfriend on camera while pretending you’re straight. no one was doing it like them.
guys if you’re in your 20s you have to live ok. I’m 31 and literally I am the hottest and coolest I’ve ever been. do you hear me
nothing prepared me for the intimacy of phil knowing dan has a birth mark on his back. like yeah of course he knows but the fact that dan himself was confused cause it’s a part of himself he can’t see…yet phil has observed
you are gay
